You make it so simple, It was 2 years back that I saw the clear shot tutorial which made me perfect in that, will be trying this. Nice one. Thank you. :)
Hi, thanks for the great video! I think i can improve my technique a lot, but i've got one question. Do u need to put your non-racked arm as high, as u did here, cause sometimes you'd see pro players using their arm to aim for the shuttle and just putting up their non-racked arm till their shoulder ?
Hi, it doesn't necessarily have to be as high as that as techniques do vary in style, although as a general suggestion I say to point to the shuttle in the air
Hi Liz. Best intro' music. You're not Brummie are you? I thought I heard a hard "g." Those two in the adjacent court need a rocket as I was yelling at them to get a move along!
when im getting to the position so the feather will be slightly infront of me, but i couldn’t make it as it was going down right on my head, should i just make a clear shot instead? thanks for the video :)
Hi, at the moment of impact is the racquet's shaft 90 degrees to the ground or is it tilted a little towards your head? Let's say if you want to hit straight forward. I would illustrate it like this: I or \? When you look at the player directly behind. Thank you btw, a very good video.
Balta Russow Hi, the racket is tilted slightly so that you have a combination of sending the shuttle upwards and forwards. A common mistake I see is when the general clear is too flat and this occurs when the racket is not tilted at all on impact of the shuttle
@@EssentialBadminton Thanks. What about the other tilt? So, on contact, should the racket shaft be tilted towards the body, or away from the body, or not tilted at all? So if you imagine there's tilting like a person bowing, so the racket should be a bit tilted forward on impact to get the steepness. But there's also the tilting like a hand does when waving Like how somebody waves a flag where the stick goes left and right. tilting one way and the other. How should that tilt be on contact?
@@boliussa It shouldn't be tilted sideways if you are aiming straight as this would direct the shuttle to one side or the other. If you want to hit cross then the hand and forearm would rotate (similar motion as though you were showing your opponent the back of your hand and then the palm of your hand only not as exaggerated as that) rather than the wrist/hand going from left to right like when waving. Does that make sense?
now you know why the english are the worst at badminton.....the english came to NZ and said they were national MK coaches.... they got murdered by us 21-2 21-3 stick to soccer guys
This for the video! This is one of the more useful ones compared to the other videos on overhead clear. This shot is still the weakest part of my game...
Hi Elizabeth, you make really good videos. I learned the overhead clear shot in the best way from you. However you make only few videos, request you to do more tutorials. Thanks.
Nice video, how long does it take for beginner to learn clear - from one end of court to another end of court? Because I have been training for almost 2 years and still my clears are not going to the very end of court:(
maryblack811 Hi Mary that will depend firstly on whether you have the correct technique and secondly how frequently you are practicing. Make sure you have the correct technique and then increase the speed of your racket swing. Perhaps try to video your technique as often we are doing something different to what we think we are doing
It really depends on your build/strength/technique. From my understanding, not all people can baseline clear easily. Some like myself can do so due to my technique combined with my build. I am 175cm and 91 kilograms or 200+ pounds. Armchair exercises certainly help as well. Look up coach Paul Stewart Armchair Exercises on youtube since I found them incredibly useful in building ligament and muscular strength to produce said power. It works well with backhand clears too.
Does it make a difference how one has the non-racket arm set? I naturally have my arm outstretched (as if to shake hands) whereas you're demonstrating having the palm facing the shuttle (though you also seem to have your arm outstretched in the live demo at the end of the video).
Hi Max I don't think it matters too much which way the palm of the hand itself is facing. I will generally have my whole arm and hand pointing towards the shuttle before I hit it
@@EssentialBadminton Thanks for the reply! The reason that I ask is that I've heard mention made elsewhere of pre-loading the non-racket arm by flexing the wrist so that one feels the elbow more when counterbalancing.
Max Renn I see. My opinion is that as long as you have your non racket arm up for counter balance then that’s good enough. Perhaps that’s a useful tip for players who struggle to remember to put their non racket arm up.
Good videos go on. I did like and subscribe. Please like video & then subscribe to my channel. Thank you so much. ru-vid.com/show-UC9diTuu4dzNEK7liI5-sL4Q?view_as=subscriber
@@EssentialBadminton Much better to do it in real speed then show it in real slow motion by slowing it down, we can put it in slow motion in youtube..(youtube has a setting for 0.5x speed 0.25x speed etc). We can't do that in this case since you never did it at actual real speed for us to slow down. Badminton players and instructors often don't realise that when they try to do something in slow motion they do it very differently in ways they don't notice. For example it's essential that after the back foot lands the front foot lands quickly enabling the player to come forward. We don't see that in your pretend slow motion, though we would see that if we saw you actually do the movement properly then slowed it down.
+Alvin She's a legit really good player that has played for England. Many good badminton coaches would listen to somebody like her, anybody that plays for their country is very trustworthy!
