Thank you for watching. Working and living in Singapore is an amazing experience but it is (more) expensive here right now and that has had an impact on many “expats”. Some employment packages aren’t fully adequate for the global move, so it’s really based on individual circumstances and what works best for you (and family, if you have one). My video doesn’t really dive into these topics though. Regardless, I hope you’re happy in your decision and wishing you the best in life and career.

@fahmidamiah
@fahmidamiah Месяц назад
London is not the best place for renting, agreed. There’s also a huge shortage right now, so many people are in sharing situations (House of Multiple Occupancy). It’s forcing people to move out of London. It’s harder for carers, immigrants and those with lower income and no (reliable) family. I truly hope those people around the world who can comfortably live with their parents, can work from home, and save for a deposit to buy a house, can see how much harder life is for people without all of these privileges.

I love ur video. I think ur experience is unique. I believe ur greatest lesson was to relax and simple enjoy where and who u r. Ofcourse if u are migrating somewhere to make ur life perfect u never will. We must make ourselves and lives perfect where ever we are. I learned this powerful lesson on the mean dirty streets of nyc where i was homeless for 6 years. I grew up in brooklyn ny but had to family, no friends to fall back on and so i was completely alone among the other poverty stricken masses. It was hard. I grew up having what i needed and here i was without those sources. My only companion was god whom i was never able to ignore. Onto cold snowy streets where i stood with others over subway vents to stay warm and into charitable auditoriums where they hearded us, shoulder to shoulder, making us run and compete for the right to eat. Hot summer nights of misery while still wearing the clothes u put on 3 days ago and still trying to give urself a sink bath in the restroom on a mcdonalds in the village while the manager banged on the door. I too eventually learned to be gloriously content while in these conditions. I believe this is the true reason for the uncomfortable places we place ourselves. It is to leave the comfort zone behind, not for good but to instead open our eyes to blessing that are right in front of us. In truth u lived well in singapore. Just a lil ways away were other people that im sure would have gladly traded situations with u. Im glad u woke up to the beauty and the majesty of that pkace, of ur place within it. God bless!!!

lol, there are reasons why so many RU-vid videos tell you Singapore is a Rich nation. It is literally for the Rich, unless you are born a Singaporean you need to be decently Rich to enjoy the perks in Singapore, both personal and wealth safety and top cheap educations and healthcare (only applies to Citizens) are the main perks of living in Singapore.. why do you think there is a movie called Crazy Rich Asian that was filmed in Singapore.. That movie wasn't a joke. Furthermore getting citizenship is getting way harder unless you are either super rich or real professional in technology/scientific fields or both. Well why I kept saying you need to be rich is because, if you are not you have to work your butts off to enjoy those perks.. And when you are working your butts off its not really enjoying isn't it plus if you aren't a citizen and you think you wanted to live in Singapore… good luck.

Thanks for watching. My video isn’t about anything you’ve mentioned, nor the multiple topics other people have brought up, but it makes me really happy that my video has opened up different conversations, thoughts and feelings from so many people outside of the topic I actually was talking about in the video: change. I appreciate your comment and everyone else’s because they matter! Imo, it’s up to Singaporeans what they want Singapore to be. But with Crazy Rich Asians - it isn’t representative of Singapore nor Singaporeans and is a racist Hollywood film that excludes groups of Singaporeans for a mainly Chinese cast. That film also makes Singapore look like a bullying, mean girl state to the sweet and innocent American-Asian. It is propaganda. Once you land in Singapore, it’s nothing like that film. Singapore is diverse in people, food and faith. People are kind, helpful, work hard and many people are stressed too. It’s a very interesting place and a lot can be learnt. But I agree: it’s very expensive for foreigners. My video isn’t really about that though ☺️

@@fahmidamiahBut sadly it was the truth, not implying that I am stereotyping every Singaporean, but it's the truth even for the women in the movie you quoted. Because even the middle class are acting that way.. Of course again not everyone.. So if Middle classes are acting that way.. It not hard to think the upper classes wouldn't and could be worst. By the way, I am a Singaporean. And I just wanted to write for others who watched your video if they thought they wanted a “retire” life in Singapore.. It's just hard to be enjoyable if you do not have capital to spend. No problem if you are there for vacation. 👍 oh and I wasn't writing to criticize your regret, if you thought I was hostile, I am just writing the reality and I thought maybe even with a lot of information out there, people would still experience it, what's better than to experience it and learning it through experience.

Thanks for sharing! Singapore is doable especially if you’re single or sharing (for families there are more factors to consider like schools). If one is happy to venture further out and try something different, it’s more accessible. And I love kopitiams! $2 teh is my go to 🙌🏽 and I love a beef rendang or ayam penyet from hawker centres (usually for me $7-8). The food and drink is closer to my own South Asian culture so that is not new for me, it makes me feel at home (I am very lucky ). For other expats, it may be too different from what they have from their own countried and cultures and that’s understandable if they don’t want to have Singaporean food every day. After all, our food preferences are set at a young age.

Start by being ok on your own skin, by knowing you’re a child lox god like I and even the person who thought or poke you into calling you a maid, This person was vibing low and so were you with your skin color insecurity.
