Brilliant. I've enjoyed listening to this CD by the Brothers and was particularly enthralled with Duane's solo. You nailed it. Well done and congratulations.
The key to Duane’s soloing is to build tension on the 2nd and 3rd strings for as long as you ca bear it then let loose on the high E. A master of building excitement. Best solo every constructed.
Very well done, saw your Let it Rain version also you nailed that one . Have you heard the Early show 10/23/71 version of Why does love got to be so sad? I think it was at the Fillmore East.
Thank you. Yes I've heard that version, though a matter of personal preference, i like the fillmore east album version better. Thinking on posting that cover too
I hope you think im crazy.... i am. however, you are worth watching til i die. This is my favorite piece of music EVER. IF you want to know #2.... then listen to Lie in Our Graves by Dave Mathews Band from Saratoga Performing Arts Center in NY. SPAC 1999. I WAS there and Boyd Tinsleys violin solo is nealry as amazing. i swear on everything you will enjoy it.... more "classical" as opposed to soul/blues, but just as beautiful. TELL ME IM WRONG...
I justt thumbed up EVERY comment because THIS is everything ive needed to see since i first found this version. God bless you, friend. Skydog is the most soulful EVER. I want to keep commenting, but ill bet you know EXACTLY who you are. And i do, too. Thank you. Ill comment again in 2 minutes, i promise.
Hahah thanks alot man, really appreciate it. I could say that i was hit the same way when i first heard this version of blue sky and the solos. Truly blissful
Outstanding playing! I still am stunned at how incredible this song was crafted. Shear musical wizardry by Dickey and Duane. One of my ABB favorites for sure!
My man, your page is the greatest thing I’ve stumbled upon on RU-vid in a long time. You’re nailing these covers and I love the amount of respect you have for Duane, Dickey, and Eric! All three legends, and my personal favorite guitarists. Keep this up brother! You’re doing us all a favor by nailing these live performances as well. Can’t wait to practice these!
Thanks man, its an uncommon selection of songs I choose to cover but I do it since there's no one else doing it. And its hard not to cover such addictive masterpieces. Im just glad its reaching the right audience eventhough the numbers are not that high. Much love
Another excellent reenactment. Well done! I've got it 95% of the way there, but you've got the crucial extra 5% in the bends and nuances of the phrasing.
Love it!!! I only picked up an electric less than 2 years ago, and this song is the challenge I set for myself. I've got Duane's solo memorized, and most of Dickey's, but it's that damn phrasing that makes all the difference. Really well done.
@@syd3610 For a beginner it's got every technique which IMO makes it a perfect song to learn. Can't play both guitars simultaneously, but I've already detected a bend v. slide on the intro which might help me. Also, at the end of Duane's solo going to the arpeggio, that's been hard for me. I need to slow this down and see if I can nail it cleaner. Either way, this is really sweet. Thanks!
I gotta say this song was a ton of help towards my improv and ear strength. Dickey's part in the intro took me the longest to figure out. Had to give up and stumble across the correct way of playing it in some random abb video where the guy was appreciating Dickey's famous licks and works haha.
