So how did this resolve? Did you eventually get your completed table that fits and works? Having parts go out out of specification seems should have been an easy thing to catch at the factory with some properly made testing jigs - is Wyrmwood skipping QA completely and now having customers do it at their end after delivery (like the software gaming industry seems to do)?
Eek. For as much as Wyrmwood charge for their tables, that is certainly disappointing. That is just a lack of QC. Glad they got in touch to amend the repairs but that many errors shouldn’t have been shipped in the first place.
What a bummer. My table came and everything is BLACK! Not the color I ordered, a year late, & horrible QA for their accessories. Done backing any future Wyrmwood projects
Sad to hear. I ended up just building my own based on their never ending supply of details they provide on wymlife for their specs. Ended up being exactly what I want, no branding, and fewer holes everywhere. The only downside is it doesnt come apart.
Sigh. As a backer I’m super disappointed to see this but unfortunately given the trajectory so far am not surprised. Thank you for posting your experience and I hope this is a wake up call for Wyrmwood. Their leadership needs understand how deeply their reputation has been tarnished.
Sorry, but 'a free replacement' for a defect product is not great customer service nor deserving of credit. That's literally the least one should expect. The fact that it took them 8 months to get you a new one and then they couldn't even be bothered to get it right? I get that mistakes happen, and that's why the first table can be forgiven. But when it's a replacement, I would expect them to double and triple check that everything's perfect. I hope they add a free gift (some extra cup holders, hex tiles, dice, whatever) with the next (and hopefully final) table, for the inconvenience and the long wait.
I remember them having a problem with the consistency of those holes and length on their huuuuge machine they bought they had on Wyrmlife. I bet you got one of those as a replacement. Oof. Ask for Doug and tell him you've crapped in a bucket for too long to put up with this and see what they say. lol Like, actually do that. It's not a joke.
Thanks for the videos. Were they able to get that skirt out to you yet? I saw in your other comments that it took 8 months for the new table to arrive. Are they estimating something similar with the sashes? I’m currently considering canceling my order. I have yet to see any posts about a positive experience with the tables so far. Seems like a lot of headache for $2k+ 🤔
With the bolts and divets bit, we're you tightening each one all the way and moving to the next one, or do you tighten half way with ALL of the bolts around the table, then finish each up? I've had issues with cages where if I tighten each one before starting the next, the last few don't line up proper
This is sad to hear. I havent had problems with Wyrmwood for my other purchases but I had worried about their process for this Modular Gaming Table. Im sorry you are having these troubles.
Yaaa pretty bad problem for a replacement. They really better expedite your next replacement and get it to you asap given how long you waited for this one and how obviously out of spec it is
I've only gotten canned responses from customer service so far. They're sorry to hear about my issue and I should allow 2-4 weeks for them to resolve it.
How disappointing. As someone that isn’t slated to have their table shipped for what looks like it could be 6+ months, seeing Wyrmwood having issues with fit and finish still is very concerning.
Indeed, I find this very concerning. I feel like they should be taking extra care with customer service replacements. Such tables should have an additional check at the end of their pipeline to verify that the parts are perfect. Most customers will be forgiving of an error the first time if it is quickly and efficiently resolved. Messing up twice in a row should never happen.
I'll be honest, this second bad shipment has shaken my faith in Wyrmwood as a company quite a bit. I was an early bird backer, and one of the first to receive a table. I've been giving them a lot of benefit of the doubt due to the pandemic, supply chain issues, and other factors. I received one of the first tables they even made, so they hadn't dialed everything in yet and it was a little off. That's fine. I've been waiting 8 months for this table, and I was told the reason for that wait was because they were making sure everything was squared away this time and they absolutely, definitely wanted to get it perfect. I accepted that explanation. And yet I still receive a piece that is not only bad, but laughably, obviously bad. It's not like you need to use calipers to find the error. If you put the two shield aprons side by side, they are visibly misaligned by nearly a quarter of an inch, and these things were packaged in the same box together. I'm sure Wyrmwood will send me another replacement. I do trust them to be true to their word on that. And maybe in the long run I'll be pleased with my purchase, after I put the table together and have a few months or years to enjoy the table and for the memory of the hassle to fade. But I haven't backed any of the kickstarters Wyrmwood has done since I got my first table, and if I ever back one of their products again, I will definitely hesitate to be in the early waves of delivery.
@@joeldpn - wyrmwood has had issues like this on smaller products not just tables i no longer support them i was curious they burned a bridge with me when my Holloween Dice vault warped to high hell just sitting on my shelf and the stone dice i orderd from them where trash looked nothing like the images on the site there CS was not helpfull at all i have then since moved on to a wyrmwood competitor that has been amazing on both quality and CS when the odd thing goes south - I hope the best for you i was an early bird table backer but pulled out last min when they started with the exscuses early on
@@necrojo5548 Ive had great luck with products so far but would be very interested in the competetor. I always want more cool products in the gaming space.
@@chancemcclendon3906 my guess is Dog Might Games. Their stuff is over engineered, very sturdy stuff. A buddy of mine owns several of their products and I ordered their table tiles.
Wow! I'm building my own game table, and suddenly I don't feel quite so bad about my woodwork - after looking at what the pros are doing. Table leaves are challenging. I'm finding that out first hand. I did get all my holes plugged though! LOL Hope you got it all squared away! Best! 🤓
@@archer9076 My table leaves are real wood planks much like the table in this video here. The trouble with real wood is that it can bend / warp / change over time leading to gaps and such. I'm finding that out as I go along. I had to tweak some of my leaves after they changed slightly. The holes in the knots in the video, are not an issue for me because I thoroughly plugged and sanded out any such gaps or cracks before finishing my leaves. Since I'm building my own table, I'm responsible for my own scratches... lol! But so far no problem. I'm working on the game leaf surfaces now, and was hoping to publish them sometime early this spring, but... as life would have it I may be moving out of state in the months ahead. That'll slow me down for sure. You can find my videos of my table on my channel. I recommend watching episode 3B to see the assembled table that I have built. (In its dining configuration.) 😎
@@rosascreativeworks5403 looks good. How did you stop the solid timber leaves from warping or expanding? I left room to allow for it but it still did it. I'm going to move to a mdf veneer for my next one that way it won't change
@@archer9076 I didn't really. In the future, I would use a technique where several boards are laminated together and the crown in the wood is reversed. This is supposed to help. For me, I just glued pieces underneath and am hoping that will keep them stable long term. We'll see. Best of luck! :)
Still nothing so far. If you've been following Wyrm Lyfe or their kickstarter updates, their MNT machine basically shut down production for awhile and they haven't been shipping tables for the last few months. As soon as I get my table, or if I think they won't give me a table, I'll make an update video.
My last correspondence with Wyrmwood is that they delayed all replacement tables until after they get the new machine they've been waiting on, which they've discussed a lot on Wyrmlife. The last actual ETA I got is another 5-7 weeks from today.
It's really heartwarming that the wymrwood team has found and responded to this problem so quickly. It'd be one thing if this was some big youtube personality having an issue, the quick response would be expected, but this is a very small youtube channel <30 subs and yet it still got such good service. Seriously keep up the good work, yall have a great team and leadership behind the wheel.
Yeah, they actually got to it before this video had any traction at all. I made a youtube channel just to send them the video, wasn't expecting to get as many views as I have.
Hope you get sorted. You have the same table I'm waiting on. Looks like they'll back their product, which is all I can ask. Otherwise the table looks nice.
I´m in for a medium and a coffe table myself and got a little worried first watching the video. But Wyrmwood´s customer service and the fact that thousands of tables will be made before it´s my time in the international wave gives me more hope that things like this will be dealt with. However I do guess this might be somewhat rushed when watching this, seeing some problems on Wyrmlife and when they opened up for more earlier pledges in the Kickstarter. However I have bought / backed a number of things from Wyrmwood and have a trust that they will make it right in the end (as seen from Douglas and Wyrmwoods answers here in the comment section).
Yeah, if you're near the end of delivery, you've probably got nothing to worry about. I expect they'll have ironed out all the problems by the time they're shipping internationally.
The topper leaves not being flush along the length of the table was noticable in the builder too. I figured it was going to happen to production pieces. All the other issues: ☹️
I didn't notice anything wrong with the topper in the videos wyrmwood put out, which is why it was pretty disheartening to see how bad the warping was. But yeah, everything else is just even more sad trombone, as Doug said.
You're welcome! Don't be too worried about your table. The longer you have to wait, the more likely they'll have fixed all this before they build yours.
I'm sure they'll fix this down the line, especially with the new machine they've been waiting on that's supposed to speed things up. Maybe you'll be able to back the next MGT kickstarter they're planning. They'll surely have everything figured out by then.
I am pretty happy that wyrmwood was able to find this video in about a week and already make efforts to fix the issue. Very few companies would ever care this much about the customers.
I did make the video specifically to email it to wyrmwood as part of a customer service request, but it does seem like Doug found it independently really quick. Was really nice to see him jump in himself and comment.
Interesting. A lot of these fit and finish issues could just be humidity causing slight changes which could explain a lot. If they made it in winter, and say you lived in a humid area, then that can really mess with things. The knots in the topper though... I love the visual of a good knot, but it has to be filled with something. Partly to make a smooth finish that is easy to clean, but also to stabilize the wood and prevent warping.
