Join me in my cabin where I rant and review all things Metal.
I also do the occasional Interview
Also there is the weekly show Maidencast which goes up every Friday where we go through the entire Iron Maiden catalogue covering a different album each week, along the way we include each solo album, side project, other band etc.
Now also there is Rushcast which follows the same format but with Rush!
Pestilence is a bit like Metallica, in some way. Both had the best albums out in the 90s and ever since, they’ve had a couple of great songs. I’d like to think this is Mameli’s own Lulu. Maybe even worse, as this album sounds like a cheap garage demo.
I absolutely hated the Forbidden remix, feels soulless, everything sounds too loud and flat. If this is how it was meant to sound then the producer saved it back in 1995, the original release sounds very polished and intricate, it actually comes to life when you hear it with headphones, nice dynamic range and stereo play.
Surprised how much I loved this on release but Alone one of their best ballads period and lots tasty moments throughout. While agree some songs were too long (needed tightening up perfectly explained ;) Think tho the short interludes are essential in creating the moods and atmospheres for such a concept. In fact some of those short interludes are simply beautiful and my favourite moments. Not a classic, indulgent and a long listen, and not one that throws horns up too often, but otherwise stull great JP and a perfect escape when in the mood. Particularly dig your traditional metal episodes and for supporting XFactors and the like :) Cheers from Down Under and subscribed \m/
I used to like Pestilence in the old days and recently rediscovered them. Really enjoyed all the reunion albums, but this one was a bit disappointing to be honest.
Cool that you mention primal, heretic and hirax. I have heretic and hirax albums where glen is. I got to see glenn rogers play with heretic on NYC. Got a shirt and speak with glen for a bit. Its funny you mentioned vengreance rising refer under hirax. I also noticed it and showed to my friends when the album came up
That would be awesome. Glen and deliverance will play in Ohio next month. I will drive from new jersey to go see them. Is about 9-10 hour drive. Tourniquet tribute will play as well . When is ultimatum retrospective coming up?
Thanks you so much. I only discovered Mortification last year so you can see I have alot of catching up to do. Luckily my friend Scott comes can and fills me in on all the little details.
@@nightmarecabin8933 yup. He said in a reply on a post about the band and I had asked him about Relentless and he said he joined a week after recording concluded. The plan was for the band to be a 4 piece so Steve included him in the photo shoot but Jeff Lewis ended up going back to Canada. I believe that there was one gig as a 4 piece.
Scrolls would be my favorite from the Carlisle era. Hammer of God is my favorite from Lincoln’s era. Brain Cleaner is probably my favorite from the Jelinic era.
My introduction to Mortification was back in 1998. A friend that I met had the Live Planetarium CD and I was hooked. I kept up with the new releases and started going backwards to find the catalogue.
The Jae years will always be my favourite but I'm rolling with the punches. I wouldn't go so far to say St Anger. St Anger was unfocused while here (for better or worse) the band know exactly what they're doing.
Sabbath were considered by the media more of a brand than a band by this stage. I feel sorry for Tony Martin for the lack of royalties all these years. This does sound like a different band, it’s such a good job.
I skipped all these when they actually came out, though I was a big Ozzy era fan. Side of a treat for me to discover this alternate version of Black Sabbath... Of all the albums in the box set Forbidden is my favorite. Kiss of death is my best track
So many great Thrash bands that weren’t able to crack the glory of The Big Four. Exodus, Testament, Death Angel, Dark Angel…(so many more; that’s just the American side). Don’t even get me started on Celtic Frost. It’s always nice to see these bands get their proper recognition. They were/are devastatingly good. Thanks for the video!
I totally agree, wont lie I loved the original Forbidden for personal reasons but this remix is so fresh that really made it feel like its brand new. Good review thanks
I am still waiting for my copy but i took a listen on Spotify and it blew my mind. I own the original albums but fucking hell Forbidden sounds so much better and it is a complete kick in the nuts. The only thing that i dislike is that there are no unreleased songs and Cross Purposes Live in this set. Maybe on future releases.
I said on another thread the original sounds like it's being played in a damp underground cellar whereas this version sounds like an open air festival. I think I like both version's vibe in different ways .
Here is the situation, it happens to everyone, your like 28? so what you hear first makes you think it is the greatest because of the feeling you got from it, kind of like smoking, so when you hear it there is a memory of that feeling. i am 55 so when i heard Black Sabbath with Dio i loved that, then i heard Ozzy and it was good but not as good to me, thus any Dio album got my full support, the around 1991 i got the "old stuff not as good bug" then i saw Anthrax trying another style and singer but everyone called them posers, back then that started 75% of all fights, i tried to see them as ass for abandoning their fans, but thats me being a fighting "growing up" so maybe a little of that?
Just found your channel - love it. Thanks! have ordered the boxset already. Had The Eternal Idol and always thought The Shining was the great lost classic from Sabbath. Is it time for Tony Martin to be appreciated by the fan base?
Cheers for doing this, was very interesting to hear your takes on movies, especially on ones where I would disagree (I couldn't get into the Hellraiser franchise at all even though I really wanted to like it haha) Also, you mentioned doing the video on Bruce's concert, I hope you and Luke can combine it with an overall review of the album as I think you only did the initial reaction video. Been listening to it quite a lot over the last couple of months and would love to hear your thoughts on it now that some time has passed/you'll have heard some of it live <3
Yeah honestly I'm quite annoyed by the lack of box. That's why I came to this video. I just received both LOTR and Hobbit today, LOTR had a box and hobbit did not. I have Silmarillion too and it didn't have a box. This annoys me. So that's why I looked up unboxing videos of hobbit to confirm. I like collecting these books and the box for lotr is nice and I will keep it in there sometimes. There should be a nice box for the other 2 books too. So annoying
@@nightmarecabin8933 yes all good cheers mate. Iv been listening to the final frontier loads so always come back to your reviews to remember what you thought
