Jude, I love your videos! I was also wondering about San Juan Rodworks. I've had 2 amazing experiences on the San Juan. Once through Duranglers in Durango and another time through AZ Fly Shop in Phoenix, AZ at Soaring Eagle Lodge. I will certainly be back. That river is one of the best. I've broken 2 rods in my time fly fishing. One large company, maybe the largest, was great. My rod (first rod ever) was replaced in 2 days and the other major name company was a big disappointment. It took 7 months to get my rod back. Maybe I will try a San Juan rod next time. That creek rod may be right up my alley for the small AZ creeks.
Great video. I noticed that you are using three split shots to get down. In a previous video you had said that you use yarn indicators wading. How do you keep the yarn indicator from sinking with a lot of weight?
I moved here 5years ago and started fly fishing. I have seen that massive fish in the river but never caught it. Friends that live on the river in Blanco had their friend catch the monster with a spinning rod and reel. I saw the picture and could not believe there is a fish that size in this river. Happy fishing to all on the river.
This is has been the most incredible year for Jude’s clients catching GIANTS!!! Unbelievable! This achievement seems to be on par with KVD winning AOY & the Bassmaster Classic in the same year!

I'm happy you were chosen by this fish, Some people don't have the love it takes to make sure it's about the care and release of these big fish, they fight hard and it does take time and patience to make sure they are good to go after a catch. Great catch!! When I was a kid my dad would catch 30”-+ browns & rainbows all the time in the Ruidoso/ Hondo river NM. But it seems like ever since the NMDGF started stocking the Triploid trout, there’s not any wild trout in the rivers here Southern New Mexico.
Awesome fish and great story! There are not many female fishers out there, happy to see you sharing her story. I floated the San Juan last year with a friend, it was a lot of fun. Heading up to Yellowstone next week and I'm stealing a day away from family to sneak over to try my luck on the Madison River, it would be awesome to land some big trout.
I don't fly fish and rarely fish for trout but what an amazing and heartwarming story. Memories made for a lifetime with a beautiful fish. Thanks for sharing the experience.

Unrelated but similar experience. When my granddaughter turned 9, I got her started in Cowboy Action Shooting. By her third year she won a national championship for her age category. The training went very well. Many times teaching a woman is much easier than a guy. They tend to listen & pay attention better. They don't usually act like they already know a lot about what you are teaching. Similar to your experience with Sarah. Same with my daughter.
