Before my younger sisters introduce me to their friends they warn, "Watch out for my sister Lauren. She will try to mentor you." They are right I love supporting young folks who are trying to figure out their next steps in life. As a woman of color, first-generation college student, I learned a lot of things the hard way. I'm passionate about sharing my lessons learned with others.
And I have a lot to share! This channel will focus on figuring out first jobs after college, creating power networks, following your dreams, and practical advice and tools on adulting. This channel is also an experiment so please be patient with quality as I learn and like/subscribe to motivate me to keep creating more content!
How important is it to reference specific modules offered by the program in the SOP and what I am expecting to get out of them? I see this applicant briefly touched on what they would learn in a very general way in the conclusion.
In the process right now to apply but this fear of "it's too complicated" keeps stopping me from starting. Already have a decent personal statement draft to tailor to any application, updated resume and CV, but the whole ordeal on how to leave for grad school when my partner & kid can't come with me is so daunting. I'd really like to see how to deal with this for non traditional circumstances.
Hey Lauren! I'm so glad I found this. I applied for an ETA and received it but I realize now a research award would be much more in line with my goals and I have some cool research ideas. Do you suggest taking the ETA anyway?
It's because of the collaborative, cross-cultural nature of the Fulbright itself. J-1 has a 2 year home residence requirement (clause 212e) after returning from the US so that you can share the results of your study/research with your colleagues/peers.
Can you please talk about how one can gain research experience in bioinformatics, especially in a country where bioinformatics is just emerging and so there's not much opportunity for internship or physical workshop training, before applying for grad school.
Hey Lauren, I'm really confused about these backgrounds. Why does everyone have a traumatic background and a sad story. Can you please show a sample of an ordinary student?

Thanks for this great video. I have been offered admission but the funding decisions will come in May even though I have to accept the offer in April. Can I negotiate my funding before accepting the offer to influence the amount of funding I will get ?
I have applied to grad school (dental hygiene) 3 times and yesterday I received my third non acceptance letter. I am 39 and I can't keep getting this type of result. I could tell you the whole story of I couldn't go to college when I was younger but ot would be too long. Anyways, I feel desperate and about to quit. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the heads up. I’ll one back here in some few months to thank you again. I’ve received 30% Award grant to a grad school program and I’ll start a negotiation campaign. You video is just precise and well guided 🙏🏾
Idk if you'll be seeing this comment but Lauren, yours is the first video that I have come across (after watching many on yt) that has helped me way more than others. I must say this is the only video one needs to see to gain complete clarity on the structure of a desirable SOP. Thank you for sharing this knowledge.
Thanks Lauren for this video. This is my first attempt for GRE. Please tell me how to contact you as I am still confused about taking GRE or not for a good university
Lauren, I paused the video to write out this comment and just thank you for providing such helpful information! I appreciate your videos and perspective so much because they are clear and easy to put into practice. I've watched so many of your videos and put your tips to practice. I read my first "outline" before stumbling accross your videos and oh my... I see a difference. Thank you for giving me the confidence and boost I needed!
