Bang on @chrish3030 - I just spent the last two days fishing the Meander above Huntsman Dam to Deloraine and it was one of the most miserable fisheries I've experienced in 50 years of fishing. I've fished all over the world and know how to find and catch fish, and there were hardly any to be found. I turned over a lot of rocks looking for bugs and found a few, but only few. I just don't think there are many fish in this river anymore and I guess that is why I saw nobody else fishing here, up and down the river. Sad.
Very sad, people have no idea about the real health of the river, like you did go and turn some rocks over and see for yourself. The couple of spots he fished have very limited wading opportunities due to high water levels. This river is no longer the natural environment it was before the dam went in. It is becoming a drainage ditch for farmers. Surely publications like flylife should be presenting a realistic picture.
Great film! The water reminds me of waters I've fished in the Tatra Mts (Slovakia) and the Brownies look a lot like the Norwegian Browns. I'll be in Tasmania in December and can't wait to wet my line!
It is better to use the felt cloth to check the manufactured barbless hook or not because you can identify the crashed barbless hook with the felt fabric.
I am so thankful for Trout Waters. Brilliant book with invaluable tips and experiences fast tracking any fishers experience. Thanks Greg French. One day I hope to tell you in person.
It is a regular single handed 9Wt rod with a floating Weight Forward 9Wt line. It's is a very good cast once you get it right! Herb makes it look easy, and it is, with practice.
I'll be down next week I've been beach fishing my whole life in sa and I've never been fly fishing I'm keen on finding someone to teach me their skills
Cool video I'm heading down to tassie next week I'm so keen I'm used to fishing along the rugged coast line of South Australia I can't wait for my first fresh water fish
As a Tassie boy who loves his fly fishing this is undoubtably the best video that I have witnessed to show case the beauty and serenity of the Tassie bush and rivers. Well done makes me home sick….
Good question. It’s been a while since we visited this one but it does look like a Litespeed spool. Best best is to contact Waterworks at www.waterworks-lamson.com/pages/contact
Terrific video. Thank you. It brought back fond memories, as I spent many hours on the Meander in my youth. Those waters above Deloraine are so much fun. How’s the serenity, indeed! Thank you again.
Bill Beck took to Woods to fish when he Guided for me on my fishing trip to Tasmania loved woods caught my best Brown there for the whole trip funny enough on a dry dun.
