@@Knight0fSin advancing timing allows for an earlier ignition of the fuel/air mixture during the combustion cycle, thereby resulting in a more complete burn of the mixture which produces more horsepower.
Do you have the name or part number for the plate with the two screws that hold the throttle cable? Been trying to look it up so i can have one to do the Derestrictor mod on and keep my original. Again thanks for your time.
@@TheKing-nj9ic according to the OEM parts diagram, it is part of the entire throttle body assembly and at a cost of $1,310.. think I’d source a used assembly on eBay on the cheap to have a factory backup and mod what’s on your bike.
@HalfClickUp yeah I searched ebay and found them cheap but the plates on those ones all look different then the one you pulled off your bike in the video
Ive been riding for twenty years. I started off on a Suzuki drz 400, then a Harley sportster 1200 and then my last bike was a Buell firebolt xb9r. Im not a beginner at all, but Im looking for a bike that could be used for sport touring that leans more towards sport and is comfortable to ride all day. Could this be the bike? Let me know guys, Im truly wondering if this is more than a beginner bike.
@@dusty1345 as with any bike, it’s absolutely what you make it. Sure, this particular bike’s configuration is aggressively modified, but in stock form it’s everything you’re looking for in the genre of sporty tourers. For the price point, I’m certain you won’t be disappointed.
@@kevinowilliams001 I have not. My conclusion is that it’s simply Yamaha’s design as it pertains to this being a “tamed sport bike.” There’s a company out there called Spears Racing that makes lightweight springs for the MT-07 that a subscriber reached out to, but I don’t believe he ever received a response. Outside of that, there is a “short throw” throttle tube for the R6 that would swap right onto the Fizzer, but I have not attempted to test that application. Seems sketchy for my 3.27 gearing, anyways.
@@TheKing-nj9ic you’re welcome man.. supposedly the 03-05 year model headers have the best chance of clearing the oil pan with no modifications. That’s is to say, heating up the collector and using a leverage tool to bend it.
Just did the timing mod on my FZ6R. I didn’t realize they suggested higher octane. You think 91-93 would be fine to run in it? I don’t see why not if the compression is the same huh? Just want to delay ignition of the fuel a hair for peace of mind right?
Do you have outside angles of you riding because I am meaning to find the ride position you get with clip ons and rear sets . Love your vids I have a fz6r myself through your videos
@@oshadagunasekara951 the only thing I have out there is my track day at G2 Motorsport Park, where I had a cameraman filming from trackside. If you’d like, I can devote an episode of Fizzer Friday to a close-up look of what the Woodcraft kit and R6 rearsets do for my riding position.
@@MJT-DA I’m unaware of a successful R6 cam retrofit, but yes the FZ6 cam swap is achieved by altering the timing of the (I THINK) exhaust cam to 102 degrees or something similar. I’d have to do a lot of research and prep before undertaking that mod, but it would be the ultimate final power adder for the bike.
@@MJT-DA that’s the trick.. not sure if it can be hand-filed or if full on machining is required. There are a couple of informative threads about it on the FZ6R forum at 600cc.org which is where I’ll begin my research when I get ready for the mod.
@@yusabayrakoglu3824 not sure.. but if that’s accurate it would be much wider than the thickness of a U.S. nickel, and that would be far too wide of a gap for proper clutch engagement.
@@HalfClickUp If it's refined instate probably not. Texas has its own fuel refineries, so it should be cheaper in general if my memory serves. Here in Missouri the QT I go to has 90-91 non ethanol gas that's 50 cent to a dollar more. But again I'm going on the assumption here. Haha!
My pops got a beautiful 2011 fz6r. Trying to convince him to sell it to me. Love the channel one day ill be on the road. Drive safe thank you for the content
Octanium adds about $2.50 per gallon, so that's cheaper, but you are still crazy for doing either one. I'd be shocked if the 4 degree advance needed anything other than just 93.
Well, save yourself some money this way: Keep a small spray bottle in your jacket and just spray some into your helmet before a ride. You'll get some evaporative cooking out of and smell it far more efficiently, if you remain conscious.
@@Jj12915 cuz apparently it was $13.xx a gallon. It seems the sign regarding the gallon count being halved also applies to the price indicated. Kinda pisses me off, really 😂
how tall are you because ive been looking to get one myself but i dont want it to be too bulky. im personally 5'9 so knowing your height can help me choose between this one or the OGIO Mach S
@@danielson0206 you’ll need some longer bolts. The ones I used here came with my block-off plates. The factory mirrors (like the ZX6R mirrors) have integrated studs built in.
@@karimali7602 I actually received these for free as part of an Amazon program that I participate in, but here’s the link if you’d like to purchase a set: www.amazon.com/dp/B0CYQJ2ZRR
@@antoniogriffin7135 check out the 03-06ish ZX6R mirrors. They are much cleaner and bolt right up. I like the look of these stealth mirrors the best, though.
I thought about buying a set of these, but settled with Sixtey61's universal rear view's instead. This style of mirror seems a bit too sharp and (personally) doesn't suit the aesthetic of the bike. good video though bro
@@SMG516 I rather like em! I feel that the sharp edging compliments all the sharp body work edges. Of course, my opinion may quickly change once I ride around with them haha 😅
Very interesting. Nice shape. I hate the look of my standard mirrors but they are actually very good mirrors. Will look for your next Fizzer Friday and see if you like the visibility. 👍
@@ewanstevenson4721 I also have 03-06ish generation ZX6R mirrors that I ran for years that look pretty good with a “flat plane” orientation, but these stealth mirrors look much sharper. 😬
Any mirror is better than no mirror. Gotta give you 5 whole pounds of downforce if you fold them right, too, so you have a better chance of keeping those crazy Fizzer wheelies under control.
@@brianhaygood183 HA! I’m really diggin’ em. It’s a slick look, but hopefully they hold up over time without ridiculous amounts of adjustments. Cuz one thing’s for sure, I won’t be dropping $300+ on the real thing!
So I finally got around to getting me a digisync and hooking it up. Mine all evened out at 62. I'm curious if the reason yours was 180 is because of the four degree timing advance. I also read somewhere you can set number one cylinder to your specific elevation and then sink the other three to it. Love your videos bro I'm in Fort Worth we should definitely link up and ride.
There may be a combination of several factors at play here with respect to the numbers... even mileage probably makes a difference. Hey that's cool that you're in Ft. Worth. In 9 years of riding this bike, I've not once come upon another Fizzer on the road. Ain't that crazy? LOL
@@Cohenadams1234 yep that was when I transported an 04 Wide Glide to Colorado Springs for my buddy. Was a fantastic trip. I didn’t really get the allure of em. The vibrations are absolutely obnoxious and they’re too damn heavy to do anything with.

@@HalfClickUp I haven't been to the museum in a long time. But I did eat lunch behind it with a keep some of the old aircraft. Was really cool just walking around looking at all the old planes
@HalfClickUp It is, thanks! I'll make sure to adjust it. Now I just need to finish cleaning out the spark plug well as well as the threads without getting any corrosion inside the cylinder, thinking of using brake or carb cleaner, a toothbrush, and a vacuum tube haha

@@HalfClickUp my clutch started slipping, so I thought I needed a new one as I've been driving it for over 2000 miles since last year. Got the new one without the plates inbetween the clutches and I've left the last one just like all the others and I didn't replace that o ring.
