Me and my family run our family owned business here in Hawaii. We try our very best to help our viewers with the help that they need. NOTE: i am not a certified ASE mechanic. i have worked at auto shops, performance shops, and have gone to school in the automotive industry. My passion is for the automotive industry, so i have learned many skills through many years of experience. I really hope you guys enjoy my videos, and if you have any helpful tips as well please let me know. Thank you from our family to yours.
hopefully you got your transmission to work properly. With the 47RE and 48RE first check your grounds to your tcu on the bulkhead. If needed, add another ground to the bulkhead (firewall) from your battery. An ATS GM Selenoid Conversion Kit would be advised. Also I would change the Output Speed Sensor. As an added plus while in the transmission, change to a BD Pressure Transducer Upgrade Kit. The plastic transducers are highly prone to breaking under the pressure. Noticing also that you have a deep pan with the stock location of the filter. You may buy an extension block kit to lower the filter into the pan a little more.
Bro could you help me? I had a Transmission Rebuilt because the cooler messed up and mixed Transmission Oil and Antifreeze. So once it was rebuilt I noticed that after I went more then 38-40 mph it would stay on 3rd gear even ifI stopped at a Stop Sign 🛑 or at a Light . Then when I would accelerate at the stop to continue it would stay on 3rd gear. I was actually not paying too much attention and thought it was something else but i ended up messing up my cluthes so I did a second rebuilt with someone else and they rebuilt the whole thing. Still is doing the same thing. They went throught the Michelle Steps but couldn’t find anything. Scanner shows its the Governor Pressure Solenoid but it was changed 2 times. torque converter was also changed 2 times and still same issue. What do you think it could be
As much as it would suck I would ask someone that really know how to look into trans programming using a computer and look through all the sensors and what they're reading, could be the brain for the trans is no good.
Need of Help! I have a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 5.9. Bought the truck 2 months ago and my buddy told me there was a sensor put on the transmission for the second gear to kick in, now I have to idle the truck from the first gear with all RPM’s up. When it hits about 20 to 22mph the second gear kicks in. Just don’t want to buy another transmission.
Actually i live in Hawaii. the Coqui frogs actually got brought here by accident a few years ago when christmas trees were brought here during one christmas
Hi, great video.maybe you can help me. I just got my 48re on my 08 ram 2500 diesel. All great now but it won't go into overdrive. It does ok one or two times before the transmission warms up. Once it is warm it will not go into OD. No codes on the scanner. Thank you.
@@ksmotorsports9701 good evening, excuse me looking at your videos I want to explain my problem to you a bit, I just bought a Ram 2003 3500 cummins 4x4 the truck has this problem, if I start hard at a light or stop it only puts the first gear and the others don't, but when I start Normally, he puts in the gears well, what I notice is that he puts in the first gear at 15 o'clock and quickly puts in another gear again, that seems very fast to me, another thing is when I put passenger in it, it only revs but it does not advance, as it steers and I release the accelerator And quickly put the change, driving it normally if it works well, the only strange thing is that the 1st changes seem very strange to me.
@ErnestoDuran-kr9ie honestly I'm not too sure. If could be several things... from throttle position sensor to maybe changing the trans fluid and adding a additive like Lucas brand. I'm sorry I wish I could help more.
Sorry to ask but my 1999 cummins 3500 I was in 2nd gear when I floord it went to first and on its on went to neutral thin I lit off it went to 2nd. It's does not slip but now it won't come out of first if I let off thin go to 2nd. An I can't get it in park any one know what it is
A bad governor solenoid can also cause starting out in what feels like 3rd gear even when manually shifted into first.. you will need a t25 torx and 7/16 socket to remove the governor solenoid and transducer mount. And then replace them both while your in the transmission because either of them can cause the same issues. And you can also get the upgraded high flow filter for it while your at it and then if that was your problem you won't have to go back in the trans. One tip try to not use power tools when working on a transmission atleast not on the internals, everything strips very easily and then your screwed. And make sure you have the proper torque wrench to torque EVERYTHING back down correctly including the pan bolts which is (125 in lbs)and the filter is (35 in lbs) 😀 P.S. when working on a transmission take care to be extremely clean the entire time.
Where would I get the high flow filter that you spoke of ? I did purchase two new filters one was a brand name and the other came with the naw pan and gasket. I've been thinking of purchasing a cast aluminum pan instead of using the stamped aluminum one that I have . Question RTV should I use it to seal the transmission as apposed to using the gasket ?
I like to add, I did the swap before, but I didn't use OEM parts. The fix got me a couple years, but, here I am again, making a game plan to do it again, this time I got good parts, not one of the cheap kits...
Usually if you have alot of play in your steering, or you have side by side vibration. you can also check by having someone move the steering wheel back and forth and you visually look at the tie rod and see any play in it.
No you simply check by jacking the car up, place your hand on the tire at 3oclock and 9 o’clock and if it shakes left to right you need to change your tie rods don’t ever use a gun on a tie rod end to tighten so much about this guys video is wrong
@@ksmotorsports9701 I have 5.9 magnum with 46RE. I have exhausted my research skills; so maybe you might have the answer or know someone who might. I have checked the transmission out. All seems fine no grinding sounds from my knowledge of typical grinding noises, no slipping. No torque converter nasty sounds. What I do know is that it shifts fine till i get about the 40 mph to 55 I really have had to rev the engine to get it past 55 and then it's smooth. Repeat if i brake below 55?
@@netguru78 mine did that for a while, cracked input shaft which leaked fluid and the pressures went crazy. Which cracked my valve body. Which then overheated my transmission and burnt up all clutches. You may be looking at a rebuild if it hasn’t already taken a dump on you. 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 5.9 Cummins / 48RE
No it says "one time" its a "in memory of" for a real good friend of mines that passed away in a car accident back in high school. so it has faded since.
Also thanks for the video, it helped with a question I had, you led me to realize that I needed a torque converter, thanks again and sorry for your loss
Good video. Prior to removing the oil pan drain plug, I would have removed the oil filler cap for proper venting while its draining. Also, a pair of neoprene rubber gloves will help with those unwanted surface burns.
