I guess that would be your best option in that worst case scenario. You will still likely take waves over the bow but hopefully the bilge still works and can catch up. It would definitely help prevent the boat from rolling over.
I watched many rough water videos but this was one of the finest. Thank you for being so clear with your explanation! Especially with what happens when you "fill up the boat" and how it can turn and flip over. Makes us all think. You may have saved a life or two. Well done young man
Always fun watching the spots on the Black River and pool 8. Always glad to help out anytime and when you fish up here again you are always welcome Jimmy. If I would have thought about it I should have sent you my video from the weigh ins. Always good to see you. Keep fishing hard and hold your family tight. You are Blessed to be chasing your dream!
Great video. Felt like being there with you. Love watching your finesse playing the big ones -- seems like you land every one you get to the boat. Keep doing what you do and the top place finishes will come again.
That did look like a Awesome lake. May not have been the outcome you wanted but you still fished strong! Fyi..Terol was playing her game..looks up at the TV and says "Look That's Jimmy!" LOL..yup. 😊
39.7 for two days to me at least is great but I know you wanted and were expecting to do so much better. Still more in the big plan for you Jimmy!! Great Job!!
That's some really good advice, mate. I've owned boats most of my life but not a Bass boat; those bass boats are the F1s of the water, IMO. I'm about to pick up my first Bass boat, a "RANGER" imported from the good ole USofA. It won't see many lakes, but it will see a lot of Australia's largest river and plenty of trophy Murray Cod I'm hoping. We have a lot of Cod, but they are elusive, a fish every 1000 casts if your lucky. No live scope, I just grind all day. it feels better when you catch one, using your brains instead of tech. A trophy fish starts at 1m, around 50lb. here's hoping I don't get pulled overboard 👍🏻 Thanks again for the advice🍻
@Second_Gutter_Crew that's so cool! Thanks for watching, and thanks for the breakdown on your style and species of fishing. Best of luck with that Ranger, you'll love it!
Day 2 started out promising, and then you had to throw a lot back. Still gained ground on the competition. What was that big one you released at 23:32?
6:04 Oklahoma has always been known as the Bible state it sits directly in the center of the map of everyone we are known as the Bible belt state Oklahoma🎉❤
I like the state as a whole, but it shocked me how many dispensaries and strip joints there were in that particular area. But not a tackle shop one around that lake!🤷♂️ Thank you for watching!
3 rods! I'd have to be on medication 😂. I can't believe you didn't say 4 rods #4 being a jig. Or maybe a 3/4oz jig instead of a weight on your c-rig. Lots of cool pointers in your video.
@@JimmyWashamFishingto simplify my madness it's basically 3 of everything 1 xl size 1 regular and 1 finesse. Ex: a mop jig with a brushhog, a reg jig and 4in craw trailer and a 1/4 oz finesse jig . Same with swim bait, crank , worm, etc😂
Great stuff Jimmy I’m 69 years old and retired and ready to try a little Carolina rig. I’m strictly finesse but got a finesse Tokyo rig I use, works great, I’m going to try your idea next time out. Just got on board with you today, needed some fresh inspiration, I let the other pros I was with for 3 yrs go to the wayside. I like the way you teach and appreciate your sharing your juice! Keep the faith brother! 👍🥸🍧
Good stuff Jimmy. I'll be honest, as someone who just moved to the Pickwick area, I've been losing more and more confidence out there trying to figure out these ledges. This is exactly the type of info I need to regain some of my mojo and stay after em. Thanks!
A good idea is go do ure day like ya know how beat the bank or whatever u do,then have something picked, and go ther and idel it for an hour or so before u go home, that way makes it easier ta still wanna do it because ure getting ta go and still catch sum fish, and the learning at the same time.remember 90% of the fish are in 10% of the water
Kevin did the post I wrote last nite to u about where and how to start looking for deepwater offshore fishing post.i was wanting u to read it,because I think it could help u alot,on that style of fishing.i posted and now can't find it anywhere, was wanting to pull it up ta send to a guy on ky that asked me the same thing.
@@johnkommer2842 Thank you so much for your replies. This is exactly how I've been approaching it lately. I spend about half my time power fishing the bank, and then the other half graphing and throwing at some ledge fish. I'm still picking up a few shallow every time so that keeps me going. I'm learning the trick to the ledges is being patient until you can get them to fire up. It's something I'm not used to, I've always tried to run and gun so sitting on a ledge for a while is tough haha.
@kevinfair929 well there's one that didn't show up,u can use lakemaster but if u get a atlantic mapping co.paper map I can show u easier.that way I can speed up the process considerably.
Catch some big largemouth, 2.5" crappie jig and 4 lb test line. Don't bass fish much anymore. But though to beat a big spinner bait fishing deep. Always pulls out some big fish on the ledges. Did 40+ years ago, still does the job today.
Good video jimmy, this is Marty Austin, I take care of the fishing section at 2nd Amendment Outdoors in Corinth, we are fixing to open a store at Pickwick next Wednesday, I would like to meet you one day buddy, I think Pickwick is nuthin like it was 5 years ago, take care and good luck buddy
Danny and Jamey at Performance Fishing Electronics are great folks! Seems like you missed a lot of fish in this tournament. Any idea why? I ask because I've been missing a lot of fish on plastic worms because the worm balls up on the hook. I've been experimenting with different hooks hoping to find a solution.
I definitely missed or lost several, but I contribute it to catching spawning spots. Sometimes they were just trying to get the bait off the nest. I'd have to know what kind of bait and hook you are having issues out of to give any input on your bait balling up on the hook point.
@@JimmyWashamFishing I've been using Gamakatsu Offset Shank, Round Bend Worm Hooks in 3/0 or 4/0. My favorite worms are 7.5 inch Culprits, but I'm having the same issue with Zoom Trick Worms, and most other worms. The only thing that seems to help is running a toothpick through the worm and the hook eye. I grew up fishing plastic worms on Tru-Turn hooks every time I could go fishing, and I don't remember having issues with them. I ordered some Tru-Turns to see if that's the ticket. Any advice you can share will be appreciated!
@@Doug_Goin that is the same hook I use in the 2/0 for the Klone Ringo Texas and Carolina rigged. My best guess is that you are running the hook point too in-line with the worm body, therefore the hook penetration is just going upward and continuing through the worm instead of projecting out of the body into the fish. You may try placing the hook point just barely out of the skin of the worm, where it can barely be felt by pressing with your finger. If that doesn't do it, go to a 4/0 EWG and that will do it. I use a Gamakatsu 5/0 EWG light wire for 12" worms offshore, and it gaffs 'em. Hope this helps.
Very good advice, ideas and instructions. Kill switch and life jacket people!! I have a small waterproof bag for survival if I wind up ditching. Emergency blankets, fire starters, water, protein bars, flares and my cell phone is waterproof.
I fished with Jimmy on day 2 at chic 2 years ago , we had heavy rain , lightening and big waves and the way he acted on the water made me feel very comfortable and felt good about the rest of the ride in. Thanks Jimmy for putting safety 1st.
I used to have a 19ft Champion. Best rough water boat I had. Got caught in one storm during a tournament and we had to go across the lake we were fishing. It was almost like you could see the wind and heavy rain coming like a wall. Hit the first wave that went from calm to 4ft white caps. It was like hitting a ramp. Only 50mph at 3/4 throttle and we were airborne. Speared the next wave and the engine was out of the water. Felt like forever but the boat resurfaced motor still running. Hit the livewell dump and both bilge pumps even though one was a auto pump I Hit both as the boat was full of water. Trimming up and half throttle kept the nose up and you could feel the water weight coming off. Just kept a even throttle and stayed on top of the waves and made it back to the ramp. Once safe started refilling the livewell and finished 2nd. Partner was 5th. We were soaked but never so happy to have the boat back on the trailer. A few took cover and skipped weigh in. We would have but we were already half way across the lake and pretty much committed.
