Hi Peter. I fished Burgage Thursday evening on the fly. Well i didnt actually cast a fly because of the rain and breeze. I checked both sides of the River because i Bailiff for Salisbury and noticed your name in the book on 17th. When you park on the Gods Hill Road stretch, there is a lovely deep swim as you walk in. I have had Chubb out at over 5lb. Worth a chuck with a chunk of meat on a lead in that one. I coudnt make out where you were fishing on this latest adventure. Kind Regards Brian
@@peterfrost5475 did you park in the farm car park. If so better check because we lost the parking there some years back. The only parking is through Breamore and thats a long walk. The other option is to park in a layby opposite the farm and walk down crossing the bridge. Best check with the powers that be to be safe. I think Eastliegh have that farm car park
Hi Peter, good to see you posting again, have you done much on the Lymington this year? I love trotting with a centre pin but like you I am very inexperienced at it but my first port of call even on the bigger rivers is wading with my tenkara rod with surprisingly good results especially with chub and dace although the bigger chub present a significant challenge due to the light gear. I’ve recently taken up watercolours after my pencil sketching and then acrylics so I may be after some tips! Hope to see you on the river some time.
Using a centre pin is one of the greatest pleasures in fishing. I even use them with tiny lures and for ledgering (with a snapped twig as a bobbin). What a marvellous herd of cattle on the bankside, would have made a great painting.
Hi Peter. I love that stretch of River. Lots a very nice Graying through the shallow. Ive seen some huge WBT through there. Worth a trip with a Feeder rod in that 1st swim you stopped at. I have had Chub to over 5lb from there on Cheese Paste and Meat. Do you ever sell your Painting. Regards Brian. Salisbury Bailiff
Nice video peter, loving the paintings! 2 years ago I bought a 10ft AFTM 4 very light but great for larger rivers, with that extra bit of coverage and line control over intervening currents and eddies. 👍
U r so perfect 😊. I also paint a rainbow 🌈 trout with acrylics. Pls have a look a comment. I know it is not so perfect like u. But it will be a great pleasure for me 😊.

I fished those beats back in the 1970's, Downton was a village back then, the Bull Hotel used to sell tickets, indeed many of the pubs had fishing back then, the Bat and Ball had a stretch at Fordingbridge. I was however chasing coarse fish back then, now I mostly fly fish, hope you do well on there, it is still a lovely river.
Nice pics. I'm a Bailiff on the Downton Stretch. The Burgate stretch through the shallows have plenty of nice Grayling when in season and some huge trout. Hope to meet up with you soon
I've (course) fished the Avon a few times, back in the day. A beautiful river, but I always find it a little intimidating for some reason. Probably just it's reputation. Cheers chap.

Thank you for that, I am now a member of the Salisbury on the mixed waters only at this stage and I would agree that Tenkara is best suited to small streams.
Bluebells look glorious. Your stream/river looks to be in wonderful condition, you're very lucky. Meanwhile in Oxfordshire, Thames Water are poisoning all the life out of the local water environment.
It is a lovely little stream and probably quite rare in southern England. Our private water companies have taken us for a ride! Thank you for your comment.
