Great tone and playing! I still have a ‘74 Super Lead 100 that I bought back in the 80s. It could use a good servicing, but I use a Power Soak and typically crank channel 1 almost all the way up. I also jumper channel 2 for a little added depth. Love using the SD-1 in front too. Enjoy!
Man, that made me miss my 1959SLP. So much fun but incredibly loud even with a HP at -8db. 🤣 Now years later I have PS2A which would have tamed the beast and provided a better way to run my time based EFX. One of the greatest amps ever Bill. You're going to love that one. 🤘
The most interesting thing is that MIG can now be bought new for only $400 The creator of the MIG amplifier now lives in Russia and continues to produce these amplifiers.
@erniebender7886 it depends. The DD-500 is a lot more versatile and sounds great so it' s probably a better choice for an all-around delay. The DD-500 is much easier to program too. But for the Van Halen tone, the EVH pedal nails it. The sound quality is also superior. And it does other things well too, but with less options than the 500. So.. Sound quality= EVH Versatility and ease of use= DD-500
Great tone and playing Bill! I have the Archer Ikon and it's smooooooth. I go through a JCM2000 TSL60 (that I've modified extensively) and use pedals as "flavoring". Klon-style pedals work extremely well. You should check out the Crowther Hot Cake now that you can get them new in the USA and not have to pay $400 for one. Absolutely wonderful and rather unique - I get the Criss Oliva of Savatage pick attack and bloom using this beauty. Check out Leon Todd's demo. Cheers!
@@billl.4410great, thanks. Got one on order, just thinking of how to set things once it arrives. Kinda want to use bridged for same reason but don’t want to blow up my 2x12
Not necessarily, as you can see I played bends in this video. The frudua thing is the closest I've found online to what I do, so I just cited it as a basic reference. But basically, you stretch the strings well first and once they are well settled, you lower the bar and tune it up again until they stop going out of tune. Then you do the same with bends. Bend, than tune up. At the end, you guitar should be stable for dives AND bends. Sounds complicated but once you get the hang of it, you can do it it all in a few minutes. Thanks for watching and commenting!! :) Bill
@@billl.4410 Wow thanks for the quick and thorough reply! Let me ask you... did you change the nut? The stock nut on my purple Baretta Special is horrid and the strings get stuck even just trying to tune the damn thing.
@PixelThief69 sure man!! Im always happy to talk shop and help out! I didn't change it but I did re-cut the grooves and did a full setup on the guitar. I'd suggest you buy a set of nut files and give it a try. It's not hard. Also it's very important to lube the nut (hehehe). StewMac has something called Guitar Grease that works well for nuts and saddles. But you can also use Vaseline if you have it handy.
@PixelThief69 Yes, I will make one eventually. My video capabilities here are somewhat limited, I can record quick videos on my phone, but for a tutorial, I'd like to get a camera up close, etc I'm moving into a new place soon where I'm going to be able to set up a system for more elaborate videos. But yes, I definitely plan to make a good trem setup tutorial.
I just got one of these, stupid question but if I don’t ask I’ll never know…..is there a way to turn it on and off without having to yank the cable out? Can’t find anything in the manual or online
Hi, unfortunately, I no longer have this unit (I traded it for an Ampman Classic a while ago), so I don't recall the exact settings of this preset. But I was using the Friedman BE model and a bit of delay. It's pretty simple. Also, with modelers, I always have a high pass at 80hz and a low pass at 8khz to take out some of the digital artifacts. I hope this helps. Thanks for watching!!
Cool Sounds!! I have 2 questions: I am using a EQPedql in the fx loop for solo boost. Is that still possible in wet dry situations? Is it possible to eq the delay repeats??? Like a tone control? Thanks from germany
Hey man. So: 1- If you want to use an EQ for solo boost in a W/D/W rig, you would have to put the EQ before the wet/dry split. So from your FX send, you'd go into the EQ, then into the delay, then split W/D/W after the delay. That way, both the dry and the wet signal would get the EQ boost. Now keep in mind that the EVH pedal has a master output level built-in, so you can program a solo boost within the pedal itself, and you might not even need the EQ boost. 2- Yes, you can EQ the repeats. If you get this pedal, make sure to spend a good amount of time with the manual, this pedal features are DEEP and not always very intuitive. But once you get the hang of all it can do, it's totally worth it. You can get all your delays, modulation, and even solo boost from this pedal alone. Thanks for checking my demo out!! Bill
I have a DSL100HR i think and a Silver Jubilee 2555X 100 watt and I built a JTM 45+ from Tube Depot. I have to say I like the JTM best ! That video shows exactly what my DSL sounds like ! My JTM I run through one of my SJ cabs as I have two As and Bs.
I start with the mod gain at zero which is pretty much the stock amp. But also,I have another video with the amp stock on my channel. Thanks for watching and commenting!
To type all the instructions in would be too long for here, so check the manual But the gist of it is you have Delay1 and Delay 2 buttons. Pressing them will let adjust the settings for each delay and turn them on or off.
Hi, it's really simple. From your amp effects send you go into the pedal input, then from the pedal output, you go back to the amp effects return. Just like any other delay. There are other ways to connect it, 4cm etc but it's not necessary IMHO. This clip is simply in/out of the loop. Sounds good that way. But it's cool to have the other options too. Thanks for your comments!!
U can use *KT-66* , that more clarity & tight than *6П3С-Е (6L6/5881)* But u need to simple correct *bias* . This amp have big transformer (New handmade by Leonid Musaev Sovtek Mig-50 _made in Russia_ model 001 .I don't know about electro-harmonix). Sometimes I use this head with external amp with *EL34* (R&R power 150 50W-EL34) & sound very good, juicy and power low end. That's better then 6П3С-Е.
