Pronunciation. SCHEEPJES yarn is pronounced as follows: The first syllable is stated as the English word: "SHAPE." The second syllable is like the English word 'yes,' BUT instead of ending with an 'S' sound, it ends with an 'SH' sound. So: "YESH." Together: 'shape - yesh.' 'Shape - Yesh.' 'SHAPE - YESH.' Accent is on the first syllable. So: "SHAPE - yesh." Hope that helps.
Oh my goodness this is the best explanation I have had! I struggle to hear and then replicate the sounds but reading it like this makes it far more approachable. Thank you! (I am pinning this!) 📌
Thank you for the tutorial! I'm not sure where Ive gone wrong on the ruffle though because mind just turned out all the same length and was more like a skirt. So I did in the first loop single crochet and half double ( yarn over pull through) then in the next loop I did double crochet ( yarn over pull through 2 pull through 2 again) then in the next loop I did half double crochet and single. And then repeated this sequence 🤔
You are most welcome! Sorry you had trouble with the ruffle. I mis-spoke during the tutorial but it looks like you saw the comments that it is a Single crochet and HDC... then it should be 3 x DC in the next loop, before going back to the HDC and Single... and then repeating that entire sequence all the way around. From reading your comment it sounds like you may have done too few Double Crochets. I hope this helps!
:Hello Friend! Your little mushroom guy is too cute, but I didn't see a video tutorial or a link to an ETSY shop. Do you possibly have a pattern for this little guy availabe?
Thank you so much! 🍄 The pattern is by Chrisette Designs and available on her Etsy store. It was a lot of fun to make, she has a lot of lovely designs, this is the second thing I have made from her store ☺️
Just as easy to extend the tentacles with some extra chains. Note though that the charity guidelines for NICU octopus states that for safety reasons the tentacles shouldn’t exceed 22cm.
I watch your video love the way you showed each step of the pattern you did a wonderful job of showing the progress of the creation of the octopus. Thank you.
Aw thank you! That’s made my day receiving that feedback 💕🧶 I am still getting comfortable videoing myself crocheting but I am loving the process and that I can share my patterns with others 🐙🧶
@@njcraftycreations I actually was able to follow along without any subtitles. I finally got around to finishing the octopus and it looks great, thank you!
Great to hear! What type of yarn did you use? Perhaps that’s the difference? I was using paintbox DK weight, sometimes I use Aran weight and that comes out larger. 🐙
I really love this pattern and it was so easy to follow. However, I found it much easier to embroider the eyes and mouth and crochet the skirt before stuffing. Thank you for the pattern.
Will make more, my daughter was born 10 weeks premature 24 years ago in September. Wish she had an octopus like this back then. But I bought her a soft toy cat, wich sat in the incubator, later in crib, pram and bed. She was totally dependent of that cat, her world and safety was not well until that toy cat was with her in bed. Thats a great tip to other parents. After child is up and going, both the favorite soft toy and pacifier LIVES in the bed, only allowed in bed after evening rituals with washing, teeth brushing and changing to pyjamas. The children really want to go to bed, longing both for pacifier and favourite soft toy. Than reading, kuddling and last goodnight time is with those items. My girl never used her pacifier at night after 3 yo. Than she was a big girl, going to kindergarden, not a small baby anymore. But that toy cat was with her at last till 7-9 yo. Still here, living in a drawer now, very worn after many washes. Wander uf she would gave gad a clise relationship with a Octopus, or uf that just would have been great in first time at hospital in incubator? Thats a question we never will get an answar to. Thanks for sharing your very sweet Octopus. ❤
Thank you for sharing your story and advice 💕 comfort of a toy, be it cat or octopus, or blanket goes a long way for recovery as often the toys will hold your scent when you are both apart and between washes. I adore this project and want everyone to have access to the pattern so we can provide comfort and distraction to as many premature babies as we can 💕 the fact that the octopus tentacles appear to distract the babies from pulling out tubes, reduce stress and offer a similar comfort to their umbilical cord is just amazing.
