When Epps says that Bugliosi's story -- i.e., that Buck Walker committed the murders and stole the Grahams' vessel without Stearns' knowledge -- is not what everybody else involved believed, he is not kidding. Indeed, the Pollocks, Enoki and Shishido all believed Stearns (a true psychopath with a record of theft convictions) was person behind the murders and theft. Not that Buck Walker was good person. BTW, Stearns now runs a senior center in Hawaii. I wonder if anyone knows who they are dealing with.
It really say's a lot for the fear mongering of environmental damage when you look at it today. All of these pacific Islands should of been maintained. Natures pretty tough.

Incorporation is interpreted as a perpetual state. Once incorporated, the Territory can no longer be de-incorporated. Now what, Sherlock?
Palmyra Atoll is an incorporated territory of the U.S. (it's currently the only incorporated territory), and therefore (unlike other U.S. territories) all of the Constitution applies to it, and people born there are automatically U.S. citizens under the 14th amendment. Given that Palmyra Atoll has no permanent population and access is limited, this issue is unlikely to come up.
Palmyra Atoll is the ONLY place where someone can be automatically born a United States citizen! Everywhere else it MUST be acquired...usually at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and in order to obtain a State issued ID/Driver's license, one MUST LIE ABOUT THE LEGAL NAME'S DATE OF BIRTH. Can anyone explain why this is true? And yes, it is 100% true and easily proven.

For the first 10 years after the murders, it was seen as a missing persons case, even if everyone suspected the Graham's had been killed. It wasn't officially a murder case until trial in the early 1980s. Anyone else wouldn't have been allowed to live there, but Roger was hired in 1992 by Palmyra's owners to be a permanent resident and keep it as safe as possible. They were more concerned with lawsuits from visiting sailors than anything else (and rightly so).

Anything that the USFWS is involved with is doomed to be corrupt and illegitamate. See Midway atoll for a prime example. Tax payer money is used to fund meaningless "nature conservation exercises". Basically this is just a fraud and the island is used for FWS staff enjoyment, free of cost.
Sorry to hear that's been your experience Jim, and while I can't speak for the activities on Midway (or anywhere else the USFWS works), I can say during my time visiting Palmyra and working alongside FWS as well as interacting with their staff, I've seen the opposite outcome. Their work on Palmyra, often done alongside the Nature Conservancy, has restored the atoll and brought a lot of positive outcomes for other places like Palmyra left ravaged and poisoned by wartime activities and neglect. Not perfect I'm sure, but done under difficult conditions and with little in the way of recognition and reward for the staff. I'd recommend looking at the rat removal project for instance, done about 10 years ago, really incredible stuff for what the task was!
@@wozwas I understand. The taxpayer money provided to the FWS should be to remove any "dangerous or unsightly WWII debris" and then scram form the island.
I remember seeing this film in Perth in the late 70s as a kid......was showing at the local library/ civic centre, not even at a cinema...but stayed with me :)
