Mongrel Dog Productions is all about Vlogs about my adventures in Australia or overseas and involves Adventure Motorcycling, Cycle Touring or 4 Wheel Driving. I usually use a bit of commentary along the way to help 'join the dots' so viewers get an idea of what the adventure is about as I continue.
Some Viewers have acknowledged the effort that goes into Producing these videos and have offered to 'Shout me a beer' if I'm in the neighbourhood. If you would like to support the Channel, you can do so by making a donation by clicking on the PayPal or the Buy Me a Coffee link. Any amount is appreciated and will ensure the oil keeps circulating for some time to come. See you on the other side.

My wife and I travelled the Tanami in 1985 in our Troopy. The corrugations were so severe the troopy struggled to maintain speed. We camped one night on the top of the granites to get away from the spinifex. What a glorious dawn we had from up there (no mine then). Rabbit Flat was open, run by a French family. We bought diesel and a t-shirt emblazoned ‘Rabbit Flat Australia’s most remote roadhouse’. Loving your videos.

So nice to see all the Places i rode on my pushy.... Tanami was one of my favorite tracks Rabbit flats closed the year i rode through and i had to carry 40L of water to get me to Yuendemu , I stopped in at the Mine to ask about topping up water and they were super nice even let me use the shower at the Guard house , I left my titanium coffee mug in the bathroom and left to Alice thought it was lost forever , i met a bunch of Moto riders heading north to do the CSR asked them to stop in and see if my mug was there...... a day later a 4x4 pulled up with MUG in hand ...things you will never forget in the outback Great times ...Thanks Steve for the memories!!!

I’ve been along The Tanami one and a half times. First time in 1994 in a Troopy from Halls Creek to Alice. Second time in 2010 towing a caravan from Top Springs south through Kalkarindji and Lajamanu popping out onto the Tanami at the gold mine. We turned left and went to Alice Springs. I hated the corrugations so much. That track/road was, probably still is, a vehicle destroyer.

When I was doing tours out of the Alice in 78 - 79 the only black stuff (outside of a few communities) was the Stuart as far south as Kulgera, then it was rough as guts dirt/sand with a few sections of razor sharp stone to give your tyres a hard time down to Pymba. Most roads in the Territory were dirt and the road you showed, which you described as a connection between two bigger roads, were indicative of the Northern Territory roads including the road out to Ayres Rock which were narrow, windy in many places, corrugated and with bulldust here and there. There weren't any caravans on these roads but the ones that tried the trip were left off the side of the road as totally destroyed carcasses.
@mongreldogproductions
@mongreldogproductions День назад
It is a harsh place for the ill prepared and uninitiated. You can still find some roads and tracks that are pretty remote and isolated but they are becoming few and far between.

@@TheRDMagee You won’t know, until you go. I have cycled toured some locations and felt ‘flat’ afterwards. But, having said that, I’ve never regretted any destination I’ve chosen because you can make up your own mind afterwards. Do your research, go and explore and at worst case you can just right it off to experience if it wasn’t what you expected. You will gain valuable and unforgettable memories even if it is only from parts of the journey. I am currently in South Korea and are currently questioning my decision but I am determined to make the best of it. Thanks for taking the time to comment. Good luck in your ventures.
