Hi Steve, On my return to Darwin after an absence of 32 years (back in early 2018) I stayed a couple of nights at Glenn Helen (West MacDonalds Range), then around west-south to Kings Canyon, where I did the valley walk. Interesting place eh. :)
@@mongreldogproductions My arthritic ankle and non-fit condition precludes me. But I still managed to do two Darwin trips (from Coffs Harbour) camping out in my Super Roo (1996 Outback). 🙂 And yep I'm sure it woulld have been tough going, even for young blokes like you 🙃😇
I did that walk in 2013 when I cycled from Alice Springs to Laverton doing the Mereenie Loop to Uluru. From there on the Great Central Road to Laverton
@@tandemtouring We passed a cyclist heading west on Great Central Road….he still had a loooonnngggg way to go. He seemed relaxed. I’ve only done the Meerenie Loop once and hated it. We do that tomorrow heading for Papunya and onto the Tanami.
Hey Steve - when you have the time and if you have the inclination to get it - give a listen to an audio book by Bill Bryson - (make sure he's the narrator) called - In a Sunburned Country (not Sunburnt). Its 20 yrs gone now, but it made me fall in love w Australia from the US. I think itll make you smile - and maybe swear...
