Dedicated to educational content for those interested in establishing a modern life in the country. I cover topics such as machine reviews, hydroponics, land acquisition, living off grid, building, farming, raising livestock, forestry, earning income from your land, having fun and more.
My content is usually related to things I have struggled with or learned. I try to be as thorough and honest as possible, including an accurate discussion of the cost of things and all of the challenges. I am a visionary, an optimist and still, a realist.
Driftlessinwi is not about money, subscribers, or fame, its about documenting things I have learned along the way in an effort to make some good, honest, truthful information available to the world.

I thought the rear discharge was made to be hooked up to a collection system? Not sure why you’d get rear discharge otherwise, unless you are windrowing to bale it, hahahaha.
@driftlessinwi

The only collection systems I have seen are hooked to a side discharge. I have heard the rear discharge decks are preferred for commercial setups because of liability from damage to people and property from flying debris. The other benefit is that you can mow in any direction without worrying about where to blow clippings.

For operating a bulldozer you :1: Cut from the Top down and Fill from the Bottom up! If you want to argue with me about that then :2: ask Gravity. After 3 seconds of cutting were is the extra material (dirt, rocks vegetation or what used to be in your septic tank. Were do I push this Dirt / whatever is in front of the blade? Just to the side. O good that dirt clod or rock just roll down into my bedroom. Oh shit! But it gets worse. :3: and probably more important is were does the Water Go!!!! IF YOU DO NOT GIVE THE WATER A PLACE TO GO IT WILL GO WHERE YOU DO NOT WHAT IT TO!!! The more you pay attention to what you are doing and think about it; then you will have a goodder experience. The most important thing is to learn from your experiences and don’t blindly follow the other Lemmings! You pass as an apprentice.

They designed the operator seat at an angle so you dont have to twist your back and neck as far to look out the back window while you're reversing. It reduces back and neck strain which reduces operator fatigue, and it's in all the new medium and large dozers.

On stuck bolts, heat is your friend. If no oxy/act torch, use a propane torch. Just takes longer. Almost always works!!

I have some runners and it seems like a lot of people have problems with strawberries; MB sells a strawberry NPK 9-12-34 but it says mix in 100 gallons; I’m new at hydroponics with strawberries……. What NPK do you use for smaller strawberry plants, per gallon ? I also made some liquid calcium; how much would you add ?

Thanks! Good video. I believe a side discharge deck would solve a few issues in terms of cleaning, dust inside the cab...etc.

Because the trucks like to dump rock going up hill, if the mat was out it would get destroyed by trucks driving on it when they go up and turn around

How many inches high can you mow with your Krone?
@driftlessinwi
@driftlessinwi 4 месяца назад
There are some adjustments available but I am usually cutting about 4" high. You can cut longer or shorter based on how much you tilt the top link forwards and back.

My 1580 is coming up 4 years old with close to 5000 hours on the clock, been hammered from pillar to post , greased once a week and the odd visit to workshop for service and minor repairs, this is one hell of a machine ,if you were cutting what is in this vidio then the machine would probley last you a life time, bulit proof , 😊

you have a lot of uninformed information in this video (biggest one being engine air filter is on top of engine, not behind side panels). for starters, you are not sitting on top of the engine. that hatch under your feet lifts open to the hydrostatic pump/drive. and as far as cleanup, spraying dry grass debris should never be your first attempt. get yourself a battery power blower to clean it out quickly after each mow; don't let it build up after several uses. also, keep in mind, this is a finish mower. not a rough terrain mower where you're cutting foot tall grass. that is where you're large tractor/mower implements should be used. proper application for intended use of the machine would help you tremendously.
@driftlessinwi
@driftlessinwi 4 месяца назад
The air filter is under seat, where all the grass clippings pile up, the side panel does have a screen that still needs to be cleaned. The seat is above engine. The blower doesn't work, I've tried it for years. The machine gets just as dirty cutting the yard as cutting trails. I've used it for over about 12 years now so I would say I'm pretty informed...here is a real tip, get a side discharge and problems go away, I just got one, hurray!

If you are not operating at full speed then of course your not throwing the snow far. Also, if there are any gaps between the impellor and the housing, you should try adding rubber. This can make a substantial difference. There are many videos showing how. With a few mods, this should be an excellent show blowing machine.

Rear discharge sucks...Add chains to the rear of the deck will help. We also added screen door screen around the radiator and coolers where you only need a brush to remove debris every hour or so. Usually when our high temp light came on.

Normally you'd make your first cut on the high side so that material makes its way to the lower side. Then get it however flat you want it on the high side again and then finish it aka float it out. Dozer operator since 93

Setting silt fence is a waste of resources at times. I can till up 20 acres into a garden but can't put a shovel in the ground for improvements. On the other hand I can pay a waiver fee and be wasteful and destructive with no consequences. Is it really about the environment or getting the money 💰 🤔 🌳?
