They all have their strengths and weaknesses. I look for simplicity, reliability, cost of maintenance and productivity. Comfort and pride means nothing to me. Resale is the worst part of them but I still choose Gehl. They're just rock solid, dependable, basic and easy to take care of
I love my CAT 306 and wish i bought it first, I do miss the RT210 and probably should have sold my smaller skidsteer, the RT105 instead. There is a time and a place for a skidsteer, especially when things are torn up, but when you have grass and trails established I much prefer the loader tractor and excavator because I can do a ton of work without tearing the ground up. Thanks!
Good luck! It's a good machine. If you have the money and a dealer I am really impressed with the CAT skidsteers... sometimes you can find a good deal on one with 1000ish hours that worked on a highway project or something. The GEHLs are not quite as serviceable, well engineered, or comfortable, but they are more than adequate for farm and homeowner usage... and they cost less :)
The fuel cap issue is because the tank is in the every front under the cab. Dirt gets between the frame and starts to pack in there with vibration pushes it back which pushes the fill cap back. It took me awhile to figure that one out.
