this type of bike is for new rider get into the sport , it will do fine with some care ,and light off road , trail ride , i have 1 2023, it does what i do, i have a 110 honda , my son grown out of it , so i bought this one for him to play , but end up i ride it now , he rides my yamaha xt 250, bc the seat little shorter, it has more power than my xt 250, i switch out the carborator with nibbi 30 mm, it can top out 70 mph , seem very solid , time will tell , but this kinda bike very easy to fix and part is cheap

I have experience with both Interceptor 650 and W800 Ending up buying a second hand 2011 W800. Both are good bikes. R.E. did a lot in improving the quality over the last years, and Now the bike is 13 years old, and not a spick of rust anywere ( i am not a fanatic cleaner) What i also like better on the W800, is has more the classic feeling of a 1960-70 bike. The 360 o crankshaft like most English bikes from that area with the beautifull bevil drive ( only modern bike now with this construction) make the riding as you are on a 1970 bike ( without al maintenace) Further the bottom power is stronger and a wider range than the R.E interceptor. It depends for each personally, if that is worth a $4000 more, for me it would be ( i was lucky to buy my bike second hand) Still, the R.E is a great bike, for sure for that price you get a lot of bike

I always end up filling when the fuel gauge blinks - for me that's between 100-120miles on the trip odometer. How many miles to folks let the trip meter go before refilling. According to the capacities, if I put two gallons in, there should be 1 gallon in the tank - or about 50-70 miles depending on conditions.

Alex, you made it clear that this is a big dimension bike that's not for smaller riders like me (5'6" 155). What 1000+cc cruiser with decent pillion accomodations would you recommend for 200-300 mile trips? FYI, I'm going to sell my gorgeous low mile '07 Royal Star Midnight Venture that I bought in the spring because it's too top heavy with my wife on board and I can't firmly plant my feet at stops. My '96 Kaw Voyager XII fits me very well and handles so much better than the RSV in slow riding, but I'm not crazy about the 80s style and I would like to have the torque of a big v-twin.

Hey man, I’m having trouble getting a loan for a motorcycle. I’m buying it off of marketplace. He wants $6500. Who can I contact to loan me the money? I even have 1200 to put down upfront I have a 686 credit score but no credit history.

People keep saying it has 45 hp, in the manual and service manual it says 52 foot pounds of torque and same torque. The 6th gear isn't really needed. I cruise at 80 to 90mph on the highway no problem.

"All they really did was fuel inject the carbureted engine..." Do you have any idea how much work that is? You need a module to control the injectors, then tune all that, you're going from a mechanical fuel injection to electronically controlled. A ton of work.

What about bikes that are purposely detuned for environment/noise reasons? Would it be worth getting the Power Commander to remap for performance rather than noise/environment? In Canada we have strict rules that really kills the performance of bikes just to comply with the standards.

Hi, I'm 6 foot 7, 120kg and have size 16 shoes and I have a 2011 GSXR 750. I have had many bikes from SV's to Hayabusa's and the 750 fits me pretty good. I flipped the clip on's from left to right and put them on upside down that gave me about a 2inch rise and about 2 inch wider grip. This made it so much better to ride and control. Love the GSXR 750:)

Strange exclusion of the Honda VFR1200F. I got mine at the equivalent of ~$5000 and it came with colour and key matched top box and twin panniers, so it's designed for touring. It's also shaft drive and 170hp which easily competes with the Concours in power, but the V-4 character makes it a little bit more interesting to ride with a wider torque curve. Agreed that it leans more towards the sport side of sport touring but it can obviously be modded accordingly to make it more touring focused, previous owner had upgraded the bars to be higher up and installed a mechanical cruise control throttle lock, I installed a USB charger and phone mount for when I need long distance GPS.

A bit of a clarification on pre-2013 C90 vs the new models is needed here.. The older design had the tank fitted under the rider seat (while the as-if tank was just a two-piece cover for primary air-filter) and the battery was placed under the front radiator (front bottom of the bike's frame). Both of these lowered the center of gravity of the whole bike and improved its handling, especially the on-the-spot one. Also, the pre-2013 models had 150/80 & 180/70 tires, while the new models sport the more chopper-esque 130/80 & 200/60 ones, IMHO a change which substracts from comfort and stability. The charging system is not really bad or weak per se, however, there is one major engineering oversight, which is the placement of some the connectors (from factory) between the seat and the fuel-tank line, where they can get squished and are also somewhat prone to overheating, and thus, melting. Primarily, this applies to the stator to regulator/rectifier one. That can result in a connector breaking down / a cable tearing off - and then shorting out against the frame. I would call it the weakest part of the bike - more when I consider, that just a 20cm / 8in cable from stator can easily reach the R/R directly. Please note that the stator itself is perfectly fine and it only breaks down (aka gets "toasted") only after the R/R fails. Thus, I'd recommend switching to a mosfet R/R, hand in hand with making the connection (between stator and R/R) right next to R/R (there's a lot of space under the cover). I did that as I experienced this "melted connector & loose cable & shortening out" issue - but since I did the above-described fix, the bike's performing perfectly. I looked into the so-called "Mod3" and some G-Man enhancements, but I liked neither enough to go along with any. Regarding comfort and maneuverability.. I'm roughly 170cm / 5'6" and weight some 60kg / 130lbs. I agree, that handling the bike on the spot is somewhat challenging, but once moving above 20kph / 10mph, it is a very stable and comfortable bike, both for the rider and the passenger. I can say, that the C90T - the tourer version - sports a huge windshield, which protects me from rain and wind quite a lot; but I also feel, that if I sit more straight up, the wind keeps on licking the top of my helmet, shaking it somewhat uncomfortably. Here I'd say that having the option to remove it quickly is lacking - I'd like to have it, especially during the ultra-hot days and for some short(-er) trips. Also, the bags included with the 2007 model are nice, but smaller than I'd wish for. But these are just my personal and rather minor complaints, frankly. LbnL - ride hard & ride safe.

New rider here as of July 2024, took MSF course and really took on riding. My first bike is currently a 2004 Honda Shadow Aero, nice bike and all but I'm ready for an upgrade. I'm looking a 2013 C50 Special edition, basically pretty similar to the Aero with the added benefit of FI. Only reason I'm looking at a very similar bike is because I can get it at a deep discount due to minor accident, what's holding me back is going thru the process of buying, fixing and spending money only to end up with the same bike. FI would be a nice upgrade over carb, although my shadow runs fine. From all my research so far I get the idea the C50 is a better bike all around. The C50 I'm looking at is 3 hours away from me so going to take a quick look is not an option, reason why I'm trying to gather as much info about the C50 as possible. Your input is appreciated. Thanks.

Got my first bike and went with a VanVan125 (beginner license here in UK means I can’t ride anything more than a 125 on this initial license). Glad I got it…low seat height means I can flat foot it easily (I’m only 5’7”) it’s very light and easy to move around both when riding and also just pushing around into and out of the garage. Can’t speak about the Yamaha, but the VanVan is perfect for London roads….everywhere has pot holes, speed bumps and speed cameras. The fat tyre and fat seat means I can just ride over all obstacles and I don’t feel a thing. Speed cameras, lots of city traffic etc means the low top speed is perfect. I can filter with no issues and beat cars of the line and never worry about getting caught speeding lol Brilliant bike, and glad I picked the VanVan over the other bike I was looking at - Honda Grom.

Great presentation; communication is key. Motorcycles are meditation to the fullest yet, you have to believe everybody’s out to kill you lacking awareness, as your life is option, just like that. Motorcycles have been part of my life since early childhood. Upon graduation, I sold my car to venture down the sportbike lane; suicide human bullets, freeway bound at 200 mph, and radio communication should be should not be part of the equation because society is at risk and everybody would lose .. in retrospect of tribulations, an individual purchasing such a weapon must be tuned in for purchase. May I request thy assistance upon sale of a CBR 1000, a family dear to my heart? Motorcycle is tricked out pushing near 200 hp, mechanically sound, never wrecked yet, pieced together in a slightly zip-tie fashion. The motorcycle is 40 miles from any dealership or community seeking interest. I’m seeking guidance on the marketing aspect, lacking presence for communication to prevent injury & allow transfer. Shall I have it taken to a dealership, or priced at requested $10,000 My cards are shown, and with all due respect, please take my aces and make them your own to provide this family relief. Yours truly, Jack McCarty Appreciate your positive, energy and gift to the Motorcycle community .

I picked up a 2008 C90 a few months back. It was a "barn find" with only 2150 miles on the clock for $4k. Yes...they eat stators every 15k miles or so but that can be fixed by doing an electrical modification called "Mod-3" and going with different (non-OEM) stator and R/R. You can Google it. Basically you're replacing the R/R and stator plus doing some electrical wiring upgrades and eliminating some faulty plugs and connectors. I also recommend installing a larger "size 20" battery. If you'd like to learn more you can Google "Suzuki 1500LC / C90 Owners Group-Classic". There you will find guys with 200,000 miles on their bikes willing to share a wealth of knowledge about the breed. There's also a C90/1500LC "gatherin" coming up in Harrison Arkansas the week of September 23-27 this year. All owner's of C90s or Intruder 1500LC are welcome to attend. There are no fees. It's in a different location each year. This year's event is called "Rollin In The Ozarks". Google it for more info. Ride safe! Happy trails!

Will be picking up a 2016 FJR with 12K miles this weekend. So looking forward to it. I saw it last weekend, got to know the owner and it has all service records and was meticulously taken care of. Can't wait. Plus, I'll have a 3 hour ride home on the Interstate. How sad. Currently own a 2022 T9GT. The FJR will not be replacing it. Yamaha rocks. Also, you need to mention the Yamaha Tracer 9GT. Fantastic bike, very powerful with a flat torque band throughout.

The problem with trip meter is that you never know exactly how much you can do, because if the tank had 'reserve' then when the main goes empty you could switch it on, but not with this one, you have to set a top length and then fuel up, doesn't matter if you had 10% or 40% left, so fuel efficiency goes to shit

Just picked up a Silverado 1100 with 4000 miles, Vance n Hines, oil relocation kit. Carbureted. It's gorgeous and was priced right. If I close my eyes I'd swear I'm on my old 2012 Heritage that I got rid of in 2016 (sadly).. has original tires with good tread that I'll be replacing. I just love the entire experience of owning and riding it, and for what I paid, I could deff see keeping it a long long time. Most likely my lifetime...
