As an indie 3D content creator, I enjoy sharing my techniques and methods for creating animation projects. Currently, I am working on two exciting projects - Crisis Project Zero One and Fallout Liberty or Death. You will find the projects using the links provided below.
You can select the material press ctrl shift t and browse the directory select albedo roughness normal displacement int he list and it will automatically connect everything for you. i think its part of the node wrangler addon
please help me out can't see anything in Viewport when I render my object its totally black and even the lights are not working, please tell me how to fix that issue. Also can't see the light options in render properties
@@thomas-cheng another thing, should downgrade Maya 2025 of I don't have plugins on it only Arnold and go back to 2024 where I have more than 10 plugins and other renders like Vray chaos?
@@EvokAi Normally people wait for the latest and greatest to catch up with plugin before using it. So that sounds normal to me. Or, you can take the time to learn Blender, as it is now an incredible program with lots of learning material such as my site :)
Exceptionally grateful for this demonstration. Is Agfacolor exculsive to Octane? The comparison to Filmic is extraordinary, it really looks cinematic. Is it just me or does Filmic and Agfa produce the best results? I thought AGX would have been the big contender.
so many times i've opened stuff i've done on my laptop on my pc, and max will refuse to use the textures it's trying to load (it seems to pull from my last project instead) and this is a nice quick fix thank you
Thank for this, man nice work on the scene btw! Would be great to have the rendertimes and settings along with the visual comparaisons as it is often what will make people chose a renderer over another one. Currently working on a project with a lot of volumetrics, and rendertimes on cycles get extremely slow. Is it the case with octane aswell?
I haven't done a deep dive into the latest volumetrics for Octane, but generally the last time I checked, Octane was faster. Now, with the new upcoming version, I believe the new AI denoiser should make everything faster.
@@ambocc Thanks for taking the time to anwser. Used to work in maya + Vray super happy to have switched to blender aside from a some lack of flexibility (although its getting better) Cycles works very well and is blazing fast, but volume and VDB rendering is just appalingly slow.
When I put my Character in blender with animation . When I push play it does it animate. But it stay in one spot. If I move the character when I put it back to 0 it goes back where it was loaded it. How can I fix this?
I can only guess you don't have autokey frames on. Or after you move your character, you need to set the key for that position at the new frame. Then it will transition from one position to the next.
You successfully animated your character…. But not the position. I’m heading. I’m a blender noob so ignore me if you want or maybe I’m onto something. Only time will tell.
I thought cycles looked better. You were comparing the street but when you look at the difference in the cab cycles picked up the better look of the characters suit.
@@amboccsomething tells me these guys are people who never tried it and are prideful and think they know everything…. Cuz if they were humble, they’d chirp a different tune.
I still believe that you need to set the specular value back to 0.5. That is the common value for non-metal materials like rock, wood, and things like that. 0.5 is defined in PBR BSDF which describes the rim reflection effect or Fresnel reflection or F0 in PBR BSDF. And for reflectiveness, you need to tweak roughness instead of metallic. Usually you just need 0 or 1 to tell the renderer whether the material is metal. Sometimes you need value in between just to blend a metal material with a dielectric material.
I thought so initially, but after some test, I ultimately concluded Octane was not following the PBR BSDF model exactly. This might change with the upcoming release.
@@ambocc To be honest, that still sounds weird to me, maybe it has something to do with the view transform or things like that? I think I will have to dig into that maybe send an email to Otoy to get verified. But still thanks for this important info.
Thanks so much for these! Gave great insight! I am currently looking for a "system" to get going with the production of some short films with Houdini and even though this is blender I think it is still relevant for my purposes! Thanks again, great flow and good teaching style!
