Hello, I have been working for days to get the settings just right. The Tascam DR-40X is connected via XLR to the Out Rec of the Pioneer DJM 900 Nexus. It records fine, but always picks up ambient noise. How can I turn this off?
Wow I am really surprised these companies not just Tascam have these mixers with sound pads and no where in the manual does it tell you how long a wav file it can play with the sound pad, critical selling point for people looking to have something play backing tracks
Hello! You're only limited by the amount of space on your SD card. The files triggered by the sound pads are stored there, but your recording also goes to the SD card (assuming you're recording directly to the unit and not using as an audio interface). As long as there's plenty of space for both, you're good!
My feelings are truly hurt😢… This the 4th board, The Flagship “Mixer” yet not even on the 4th iteration is there a 4 band EQ?… Y not?! This is a mixing board right? …I apologize for being sour, I really wish this board sported that feature.
Theres going to be a lot of Model 24's on the secondhand market .. wish you'd released this instead of the 24 really annoying everything the 24 should have had and what people complained about
@TASCAMUSA Hi, I noticed that when the channel Source Switch is set to MTR and MIXER > USB SEND POINT is set to PRE-COMP the track data is not transmitted to USB, this is in conflict with the block diagram; anyway POST-COMP and POST-EQ work as expected. When the the Source Switch is set to LIVE and MIXER > USB SEND POINT is set to PRE-COMP it works as expected (e.g. data is sent to computer). Would you please confirm it is intended to work this way or otherwise release a fix? Thank you Max edit: re-reading the block diagram at 400% zoom revealed two labels in the channel's PRE COMP tap points area that eluded me before. It seems the USB Send data is picked before INPUT MODE SWITCH nodes (drawed with a dashed line), while the REC data is picked after (continuous line).
Just sold my Pro40 because the ADAT ports was loose and didn’t send signal the right way. This whole time I could of connected to my Clarett a different way 😭😭😭
Great video. Thank you. I bought the DR-40X and very rarely use it. The reason to buy it was to spread the built-in mics, put it on a table in the centre of my music room, and face it towards my hifi speakers. This way, I assume it will record audio the way my speakers actually sound in person. I could take a line level out of my hifi system and directly plug it into the DR-40X but that would just give me a hi-res audio file on the SD card, right?. In order to share files with friends and family with music the way I hear it in my room, what best way would you suggest? I have 4 different pairs of speakers, and I want to share how they all differently sound while playing the same music from the same source. Your thoughts on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Is there a way to test out the app in an offline mode without having a console? I like to test of the responsiveness and fluidity of the apps before I purchase a console, as some of the IPad apps I have seen for other consoles are very clunky and not enjoyable to use. Thanks :)
Hello! Yes, the control app is fully accessible offline. The interface is the exact same as what is seen on the Sonicview itself, so the experience translates very well between hardware and software.
Hello! Yes, that can be done. The virtual instruments found in Logic can be returned to the console via USB. In fact, this is something I regularly do when I create music.
Could you please tell me if this recorder will work with the PowerBank? If I take out the batteries and connect the recorder to the PowerBank with a USB cable, will it work?
When recording in standalone mode like this, is the only option to export the sereo mix or can I export the individual channel recordings as separate WAVs to bring into DAW on the SD Card? I can only see the export stereo mix option? Cheers
Hello! You can do both of these options. To retrieve the individual multi-tracked files you'll need to put the Model 12 in SD card reader mode. Then, on your computer, open the SD card like you would any other hard drive, then extract those files from the MTR folder.
@@TASCAMUSA sweet. That’s ideal. I’ve only just got it so just experimenting now. So if I don’t export Stereo mix, then the individual channels recordings are just on the SD card? & I can either take the sd card and put it in my computer, or follow along what you said above? My place where my mixer and equipment is is a separate unit to where my other computer is, so I’ll usually record my jams, then take the exported files and mix down / edit in Logic on my desktop Mac at home.
@@h-dawg969 you're correct - the SD card can be removed and then put into a reader attached to a computer and the files can be retrieved that way, too.
@@TASCAMUSA yeah cool. Cheers I managed to get it sorted and uploaded a deep house hardware jam the other day. I think I tagged Tascam in it so you should see it if your interested. Think spell check changed you to Tuscan in the description though but alls good now. It’s so good that you actually respond to queries. I may have another question for you soon no doubt. Cheers ;)
Yes, you can connect the mixer to your interface. However, the Model 24 is also a USB audio interface which gives you more channels than any existing product in the Scarlett line.
I got the DP-008 in 2013, barely had time to learn how to use it. Recorded a couple basic tracks. Then I went through a bunch of personal disasters and crises, had to move, a lot of things happened. Now ELEVEN years later I am finally unpacking and sorting my possessions bit by bit and found this little beauty again. I can't wait to learn it again and show my now-teenager how to play with it! 🥹
