The "aerie" in the thumbnail threw me... I have TWO Onewind 12ft double wide hammocks and can actually sleep flat on my side (I'm 5' 8"). One stays up in my yard & the other in my pack. I'm in the deep south so I can make do with two poncho liners as over/under quilt. Nice video !
wish i had the machinery and skills to do this myself, unfortunately i dont even have the space for the machinery.. Nice job tho, didnt watch the whole video, just the result.
That’s all cool. Years ago ice fishing on the lake my Mr. heater I took the front off the purpose of that is so you don’t stick your hand in all the way, which we are adults is unneeded. I turned it around the other way, and flipped it over and drilled a hole, halfway down on both sides and put it in. That was so strong. Unbelievable.
I've used one as a backup along with my Garmin GPS and keep both in my hunting vest when grouse hunting. I just mark where my vehicle is parked with the Bushnell. I do know that you must get it oriented to the satellites quite well or the accuracy is off. I keep spinning it while rotating in a circle for about 10-12 seconds after the satellite icon comes on. It works well in a pinch and does what it's supposed to do. Guide you in the direction you came. But,( and this is important with this unit), you must make sure you calibrate it by walking in a circle and spinning the unit around in your hand, every time you turn it on. If you don't, it will be inaccurate. I can get to my start point every time when calibration is done correctly.
Three years ago I watched this video. Tons of acurate information. It seemed to stir up the yuppie trolls who as we all know , know everything herbal. I've harvested tons of chaga and reishi since my last posting and have started making tinctures of chaga , reishi, tt , lionsmane and combos of several. The more I learn , the more I'm amazed by the power of fungi. Also noticed I didn't sub or like... what , gonna fix that. Hope you make more of these kind of videos. 43 thousand views! that's something.
A little tip for the leather axe sheath ... I have the same axe/hatchet. Use fixin wax/fat wax ( beeswax & food grade mineral oil ) 2 TBS mineral oil 3 TBS beeswax . Put this on the leather especially the cord. It will protect, waterproof plus keep it from drying out and cracking. Most of all, it makes the leather cord grip and hold secure. Fixin wax can be used to do many other things like chap lips, fire starter, wood/metal sealer and if you put a wick in it, you have a candle for emergency too ... a must have item in the pack .
The knife I used was called the Grohmann #3 army. The grohmann #1 has a very interesting history it was designed and given to trappers and hunters to test. Before landing on a final design. Later the bird and trout was designed then the army. All similar to each other but with small tweaks for its intended purpose. I have many many knives but my #3 is one I keep going back to. I just wish I could get it in CPM s45vn. The steels they come in are decent and tuff though.
Thanks for the video, what’s the knife you used for the food prep, it sounds like you said, grosvenor no.3 army! I can’t find anything by that name. Interesting and efficient looking knife though. Thanks Dave
Good review. I picked up that tarp a few months ago after watching several reviews. I use it when hammock camping and it works great. Good coverage and very sturdy. For the quality , size and price you can’t beat it. I believe I paid about $39.00 for it on Amazon. Great value for the money.
Shelter is very important, personally I would never use it as a pack, shelter needs to be instantly deployable without dumping all your gear. I would use a dry bag instead and attach shelter under toggle/crosshatched tie downs.
