The entire area is dog friendly (including most shops and restaurants (with exceptions)). We also live in a highly transient area where people retire here, move here after college as well as folks that just move here once they become empty nesters. So yes, you are welcome here 🙂
Hey there! I’m not that familiar with Mooresville NC - I do have partners that I could get you in touch with though. Unless you mean Morehead City? Morehead city does have a similar to “Main St” that you can do a little shopping and walk to restaurants yes!
What an incredible informative video. On the overall people when moving and relocating it is all about the home the pool if wanted in the back of the house with the garage and gardens. Hence, thinking about clinics, doctors offices, dentist, opthamologists, gynecologist, cardiologist offices and/or excellent hospitals private or public that is the least on their mind but it is very much a reality. Can you tell me where is the neighborhood in Wilmington, NC that has a Whole Foods and the homes are very residential and stately. That is a pretty area. There is an interior designer that leaves nearby and she has youtube videos and goes by the name of the Tartan Topiary. She is so kind, professional regarding beautification of one's home. All the best.
I naturally speak extra loud (im partially deaf) so I turn down my volume so my viewers don’t feel like I’m yelling at them - this video I turned down a bit too much. I apologize for the audio!
I believe I say it’s a small city. Wilmington is close to 200k and it’s considered a medium size city, so there’s no way Jacksonville can be big. But is that all you really picked up from the video?
@livejacksonvillenc I didn't say Jacksonville was big it's the 5th fastest growing small city I'm from jville just didn't want it represented correctly the other stuff you said was correct
Wilmington is way overdeveloped without any infrastructure to support it. It is also full of addicts-as there is a thriving "recovery" industry here-practicing catch and release once the insurance runs out. Forget going to the beach anymore-70k people trying to get on a beach with parking for 3k. Prices are skyrocketing for rentals as well as new homes. Insurance , both home and auto, prices are insane-every hurricane the rates rise to pay for all the claims from the Mcmansions on the beaches (which you cant get to) and auto accidents due to terrible road planning, and uninsured illegals that flock here to do landscaping and building high density rat traps.. Speaking of high density-that is a priority for the zoning commission and city council-so, the home you buy in a quiet area with some trees-WILL be clear cut and infilled with apartments. 35 years ago-it was a paradise....now-it is the equivalent of a more humid Newark NJ.
Jacksonville was my hometown when I was a kid. Moved out when I was 12, currently going on 24. I wanna at least go back someday just to see what the place is like now. There’s so much about my hometown that I feel like I never really took in because I was a naïve kid.
I do have Bolivia, yes. But not winding river. Shoot me a text or email and I’ll get a video made to send you! (910)541-4088 or Livejacksonvillenc@gmail.com
I lived here 14 years now, as military child living here its very military oriented and family oriented which makes it a safer more peaceful town without much crime which is nice. But the last few years so many people from other states moved here like some military people but also a lot of just people in general. Its overpopulated now. Like i used to be able to go anywhere around anytime anyday and it was peaceful and not that busy. But in the past 3 years its like a mass exodus to here from else where for people. Its kinda annoying tbh. I didn’t like hate living here even though it is boring and not much to do. But it being quiet and not busy made it worth living here but now its just boring and overpopulated. Everytime i go anywhere everything is always sold out or like busy as heck.
I'm 54 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, and we are finding it impossible to replace them. We can get by, but can't seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 30 years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for.
I feel your pain mate, as a fellow retiree, I’d suggest you look into passive index fund investing and learn some more. For me, I had my share of ups and downs when I first started looking for a consistent passive income so I hired an expert advisor for aid, and following her advice, I poured $30k in value stocks and digital assets, Up to 200k so far and pretty sure I'm ready for whatever comes.
@@Elliot-Ivan The crazy part is that those advisors are probably outperforming the market and raising good returns but some are charging fees over fees that drain your portfolio. Is this the case with yours too?
We've lived here for 9 yrs...your pros and cons are very accurate! We are from upstate NY and actually stayed up there an extra year after we purchased our place down here because I wasn't ready to give up the money I was making in NY. It took me 6 yrs to find my niche' here workwise, but we love Wilmington.
I appreciate your comment!! What part of upstate ny? I’m from Canandaigua Lake area! It’s definitely a shocker to see the income gaps… now we’re getting a ton of remote workers!
If you like Golf, I would not recommend moving to Wilmington. In the last few years they’ve torn down two courses and put up more developments. It’s next to impossible to get a good tee time unless you want to drive 50* miles towards Myrtle Beach.
The area is way over crowded now and too expensive for what you get. Bumper to bumper traffic everywhere you go. When I am able to move, I certainly will.
A lot of people do say that and I appreciate the honesty, it certainly helps people make their decision. Please let me know if I can help with anything 👍🏼
Im a mail carrier in jersey and a requested a transfer to wilmington and a few other towns near by.. so im hoping i get it soon and with my wife working from home its a no brainer
Hey man that’s great to hear! Please don’t hesitate to reach out. I’d love to help you thru the process of moving (possibly) or even just give more insight. From one northerner to another, I appreciate your support 🤙🏼
I personally don’t like maysville - but I live in Holly ridge and I love it. Close to surf city and Sneads ferry, yet very affordable and nice neighborhoods.
@@livejacksonvillenc I am not trying to be a Internet troll but there is no way I would recommend Holly ridge. I even spoke about this with people that grew up here like myself and every single person said no way would they recommend living there. I would have suggested Hubert or Swansborro before even thinking of Maysville and Holly ridge.
As a civilian living in jville the job market is horrible. You are competing with military wives or husbands that just want to get out of the house and don't demand higher pay.
so did you even go to EI??? you know NOTHING about EI . I lived there for 25 years, so comming here from Jacksonville as a 20 yo Marine you know NOTHING. shut the F---- up
Wow this is a bit harsh. I’m not sure what makes you think I don’t know anything about Emerald Isle? I work in EI all the time - I think you’re assuming a lot about my story.
My husband and I are in our 40s. We moved from a big city in Texas to the Wilmington area. Cost of living isn't vastly different in my opinon. We kind of leveled out and still pay around what we used to in our day to day/ month to month spending. The home prices are just as expensive here as they were in the big city we came from. Taxes and other living expenses aren't so different that we noticed saving a ton here now that we live here. One thing that was jarring to me is how much slower and relaxed life is here. That isn't a bad thing. We came from highspeeds on the road ways and fast paced work environments to a very chill slow day to day life. The surrounding areas actually slow down and go to bed by 8pm. It's weird to be out at 9pm and not beable to find much open by that time. We have to be sure to pick up dinner semi early before resturants close. I personally like that about living out here. You can go in your backyard and actually see stars. Businesses aren't open to blind out the night sky. On a negative though this area is a job desert. It's hard to find a good paying job that isn't remote. You'll be pulling in around the 60K range and MIGHT beable to pull in 70-80K with both you and your partner working. I see it more consistant in the 60 to 70k though. What's bad about that is it makes for local income being less than the incomes of people transplanting here. So you find that affordability is really for those who don't actually depend on a local job to be here.
Amazing comment! Thank you so much for your feedback and I’m glad that you love it here. It definitely is a change from other areas of the US but in a lot of ways, a good change. Costs are certainly comparable to a lot of areas and it sounds like it’s comparable to where your from in Texas - but I know a lot of my clients (including myself) moving from northern states that are saving a lot of money. Eitherway, we love living here! Thanks so much for your comment and support and please let me know if I can ever help with anything 🙏🏻
Surf City is fabulous so fab that we purchased a home there with a great ocean view and a 2 minute walk to the beach. The best view is at the top of the bridge , when you get there its like pretty color houses with the ocean in the background. Home ownership on an island can be expensive, maintaining can get costly, all the insurance costs especially flood insurance is costly. Yet any expense is worth it. Most of our neighbors either live there full time or do not rent their homes out, so that is also really nice, we all watch out for each other and and each others homes. East Coast sports you said was a big box, lol, it is a large store but it is not a chain. It is a great place to live or visit .
Amazing input thank you so much!! We said east coast sports is the closest thing we have to a big box store on the island but obviously it’s just a big , locally owned, store that carries a lot of great products. I love this area so much and the maintenance is worth it for the lifestyle!! Let me know if I can ever help with anything 🙂
I retired from USMC and Camp Lejeune was my last duty station, J-ville is trash PERIOD, slow, tired and definitely backwards. The civilians that work on base (some) are racist as hell!!!!
Moved here 22 years ago from CT. Taxes are about a third what I was paying. Locals don't have a problem with people coming here - that's ridiculous. They don't care. Too into yourself. It's a very popular city that is growing fast because it has so much to offer. People don't come here to get a job, they come because of great food, great beaches, great neighborhoods and usually great weather.
Appreciate your comment and thank you for watching! Regarding the locals - I’m not too into myself, go into any youtube videos comments and see what the locals say. They love to tell people not to move here. In any case, I agree about not moving here because of a job - wilmington has so much to offer and mostly everybody loves it here! 👍🏼 let me know if I can ever help with anything 🙂
Haha believe me, I understand the history behind it… i speak in terms of real estate and find me a single real estate listing that has “ocean city” pop up on it. There’s not one. My videos are for people relocating here and if you watch my other videos, I share a bit about history. But I’m not a history teacher, I’m a realtor and I tell people what they can expect from the areas they live. I didn’t say it disrespectfully by any means but apparently some people are offended, so I apogize that you took it the wrong way!
Praise Jesus Christ! I spent this past "Father's Day Week " with my adult daughters and grandson their in a beach house. We had an amazing vacation. I recommend Emerald Isle as a great place to visit. God bless.
Of course you will like it here if you are European. There is a nefarious history (City on Fire: 1898). I grew up here 70 years, left for a career in the 70s and returned for duties as caregiver. This is the perspective of persons who live life in privilege, and I get that but to those of you of color or that care about "diversity" this place may disappoint.
I grew up in Jacksonville. I love my hometown but there just isn’t enough job opportunities there. I ended up moving around the triangle area. It is great if you are retired and want to live somewhere close to the beach for an affordable price.
