Thanks for watching! Sometimes I put my own spin on things but this one was kinda tough to do it to…not saying it’s impossible but it’s just so iconic I didn’t want to mess it up. Lol!
I recorded this using Reaper. You’ll need an audio interface of course but then you need a plugin, modeler, or amplifier to plug into to get tone. Personally, I’d recommend you look into Neural DSP’s plugins. They’re simply amazing!
Using my Neural DSP Quad Cortex - neck pickup EMG 85 with volume at about 20%, EVH 5150iii red channel with digital delay and reverb. It’s been a while so that’s all I can recall sadly 😞
I was curious to know how heavy the Solo II is. The Les Paul is notorious for being heavy and what I hated most was the fact that there's so much weight in the lower bout that it made it difficult to play while in a sitting position. In other words poorly balanced.
If you’re going for pure ergonomics, I’d recommend an Ibanez AZ. But for a LP Style guitar, this is wonderful. It’s thinner than an LP and much less hefty. I haven’t had issues with balance both in studio and live with this guitar. If anything, at 6’3” and 225 lbs, the guitar looks a little small on me!
No problem! The Shorts UI makes it so hard to find specific videos. Here is the Floods solo: ru-vid.compoHTQVWGoX4?si=A5oWvjzJmKD7mUCw Here is the Floods outro: ru-vid.com7S9Sx8U89IQ?si=4IuhKOq7kQZ6TYrP
Thank you! This was through my Quad Cortex on a 5150iii red channel setting. I tweaked the EQ (forgot exactly how) but got this sizzling thick sound. I may have added a touch of tube screamer too. Sorry, I’m not much help! 🤣
Thank you! My advice is to use a “slow-downer” to listen to every part at 25% speed or so. Then work up from there. Hint: I’m not playing this 100% correct. That ascending legato part is punishingly difficult!
Absolutely. In my opinion, pickups are the single most effective change to alter the tone of a guitar. Throw a DiMarzio tone zone in the bridge and air Norton in the neck or something similar and you’ll have a shredder’s dream. The stock pickups are fantastic too.
