I don't understand he says there's no indication of tempo such as allegro, or andante - but there's a metronome marking. Isn't that the most precise way a tempo can be indicated? confused
As always a wonderful teacher....and one of my 3 fav pianists....btw, though i agree with him about not playing it too slowly, that is still how i love this piece Annie Fischer and also Barenboim's versions.
We, in the western world, arrogant because the west keeps the illusion that the western culture, especially music as well it’s Christian religion are superior, we do not ask the question why is there music, where is its source. The Indian spirituality has got an answer but it is totally useless to continue this subject. And we arrived at the end of our music, once conceived by J. S. Bach. Atonale music causes headaches instead of the feeling of Glückseligkeit.
Mozart the melody master. If this concerto was a jewel, no one could ever afford it, however rich they were. It's wonderful, joyful, spiritual, uplifting and unforgettable. Schiff does it great justice and much credit to him. But the star is Mozart. All his concertos are miraculous master pieces. I play them in the living room, in the car and on the phone. I guess we all have our obsessions.
I wish somebody taught me this 17 years ago when I gave up on my career dreams after years of chasing after the wrong kind of perfection as a tormented piano major.
27:17 I've been watching this section repeatedly like a madman. Schiff's playing is incredibly graceful, elegant and precise. All in all, hypnotic in sound and movement. Superb technique and musicality. Bravo Maestro!
It's sooo great to see Schiff play Mozart. He carries the best of his traits for Bach to Mozart: The sparse use of pedal, the fluidity, the impeccable fingering and the most eye-opening phrases.
My all time favorite part of this concerto is the build up and absolute explosion from 14:05 to 14:11 <3 you can even see how he changes the fingering on the last few notes in the left hand to add more power by using 2 or 3 fingers to play one note. So perfectly done that Mozart and Beethoven would be proud <3
Une très belle version ; mais un jeu toute fois un peu dur dans des accents "forte" .....Serait-ce le son des pianos modernes qui rendent le son trop agressif à mon goût .....
