I do reviews, track days, and share my experiences in car culture. Join me on my adventures with my MR2 and GTR. If you have a passion for everything cars you're at the right place.
Understeer is a real thing on these, you can solve it by going into a corner a bit slower and hammering the throttle on the way out, works. Still, doesn‘t have enough power to properly get the tail out on a dry track
How people react to you as an owner? Do you ever get people acting surprised that you're not Asian? GT-R in OC, my money is on it being owned by an Asian dude 9/10 times lol
Yeah, I tried that few years ago with brand name Raybrig housing and doesnt look right for oncoming drivers. Now I have philips 5x7 led that have the correct light output.
lol the maintenace is reasonable compared to a Porsche. My bill for a maf replacement and fuel system clean was $3k. More MR2 content please as the recent spike in MR2 interest is bringing more potential owners into the loop. Getting my MR2 back from shop soon; lucky you for the twisties. In Illinois, only flat highways.
Nice video with up front impressions of the 2GR swap driving impressions. You brought up points other reviews do not mention--as the other reviews are too glowing. The power band, electronic throttle, and true hp output is something nobody mentions. Possible better keeping the turbo, do an exhaust and tune and will be at or more power with the ability to do more a stronger internals. The 2GR has a much sweeter exhaust than the turbo. This video deserves a like.
Darn. So my MR-S is only worth ~$7500 to you :( lol. That Supra riding your bumper must've been annoying. I'm happy you're keeping the GTR though! Definitely a keeper :)
It's nice to see you again. Being a car enthusiast certainly has a few challenges. It's nice to have the option of fixing things yourself, meaning tools and a shop, but it's not always fun. On the flip side is finding an honest and competent mechanic. That's not always easy or fun, as we eventually discover. In my case, a seized engine provided a clue that someone's intentions weren't backed up with quite enough knowledge. Oops. 😉
@@SnowWhiteMR2 A 1994 Camry, three years ago, so not exactly a financial catastrophe. He told me to try cleaning an O2 sensor with "an Italian tuneup" meaning rev it and accelerate hard. I did that on the way home almost made it the 14 miles. Could also be coincidence but radically altered driving patterns on old cars are never recommended.
I can relate to maintenance cost of high performance/modified cars. With everything done to my WRX I have to throw 100$+ for the oil change, and can't neglect having hoses and seals checked on constantly because of the extra heat load. It's great seeing you posting videos again.
🤔🤔🤔 Anybody know anything about the sway bar link on a 2013 6 speed 🤔🤔🤔 I just had it repaired a few months ago & it's already making the same sound again . & I took it took it to the local reputable place 🤔 . My car has 225K miles on it, if that helps .
If I remember correctly They didn’t put the 2zz in the Mr2 spyder because well cost but contrarywise, at the time of development they got in contract with lotus (again) and used a modified Elise chassis and lotus got the motors, Toyota *wanted* to put the 2zz in the mr2 but lotus didn’t like that because who in their right mind would pay for a lotus when they could just pick up a Toyota for a fraction of the cost
The mr2 spyder was really a pos. Lotus had no objection whatsoever . It was an engine contract nothing more. The Elise / exige chassis is as different from a mr2 than a nasa spacecraft from a horse drawn cart. Toyota has traditionally hired lotus to fix their suspension issues while Yamaha takes care of the high performance engine work. The exige is the pinnacle of the right parts and people. British suspension and body engineering, Toyota block, Yamaha engine refinement
El motor 1zzfe es muy lento y el motor 2zzge tampoco es suficientemente rápido como Honda pero además es muy fiable,en definitiva un desastre un celica que no sirve para nada.
I have an 18 yr old Tribute. Mazda is one of the few brands I'd repurchased. I need the cargo, and I don't enjoy the newer styling of Mazda 3s. I'm on the hunt for this rare beauty. The handling of Mazdas is great. My Tribute wasn't great at excelling but great otherwise. Major repairs are annoying. Most mechanics don't enjoy it.. I guess like Nissans.😅 . Thanks for your review.. I look forward to my new daily driver
Sorry.... you are showing the width of the wheel / tire at the 1min mark. The proper wheel width is a measurement taken on the inside of the wheel rim !!
Awesome video. My uncle imported his baby blue two door from Puerto Rico to Bradenton, Florida back in the 2000’s. It made its way from Florida to Indianapolis where is spent most of his life and where I got rides to school in.. fast forward to 2023. I’m a proud owner of a four-door TE72, I’ve owned it since May 2020 and I enjoy it more than my brand new (at the time) 2018 Hatchback Civic. I would love to own a two door in the near future.
Just to mention it.. just cuz u change brake sizes.. It dont give u better brakes.. Wider tires do!! Im full of bs? Try it. Put a stock wheel on ur upgraded wheel.. and put stock calipers on new wider wheel..
It is true that brake power is limited by tire grip, but increasing both absolutely will improve stopping performance. Additionally you will have less fade with larger brakes. Just improving brakes without more grip would be bad tho
@@SnowWhiteMR2 Unless u change ur hp on ur car its pointless.. the car brand it self have used heavy computer skills to calculate ur cars weight, hp to make sure ur brakes are more than good enough.. its been tested many times allready.. its just look cool but have little to non benefits.. just change the brake lines so ur braking dont fade. Its enough
I had a huge collection going back to 2000. Then in 2012 when I decided to get out of the scene I recycled them. Now that I've gone back in I'm kicking myself for just tossing my old mags and catalogs. Now I'm on a quest to find, buy, and rebuild my collection. I only have one magazine left, and it's from 2000. I was 17/18 in 2001 and really liked the scene back then. Super street, and modified were my favorites. Also Honda tuning.
@@SnowWhiteMR2 thanks, I'm hoping to find someone's collection they just don't want anymore. Im always looking at garage sales, flea markets, marketplace, etc.
