Hi, I'm Stu and welcome to my channel. I am a BABCP accredited CBT therapist and have spent the last decade trying to help people live more meaningful lives. Although I have a lot of experience in a lot of areas, I predominantly work with people who have experienced trauma.
I have two RU-vid channels. On this one I share my experience and my thoughts on a whole range of popular media such as music videos and interviews. People have told me that framing this around music videos is more accessible without getting into a full on mental health video.
My other channel gives practical mental health tips that I use in my daily practice and that have helped people so please subscribe to that channel if that is something you are interested in.
If you're looking for suggestions to react to: Muse - Hysteria (obsessive desire) Blue Obtober - Hate me (depression/drugs etc) In the moment - Whore (self-acceptance, defiance) PALAYE ROYALE - Lonely (Very dark, "too lazy for a suicide" example of lyrics)
Juice just breathed hip hop. He was born for this! The best freestyler ever. Before anyone says Harry, I agree Harry is amazing. But if you include all styles and melodies, juice could do it all. He wins in my book. RIP to a young legend
It's one thing to expect decency from others but relying on it is simply foolish. Putting oneself in such a vulnerable state will often lead to tragedy of one form or another. People get so offended so quickly. "I shouldn't have to worry about someone taking advantage of me when I'm intoxicated!" Sure and you shouldn't carry a weapon or a GPS when out for a long hike in the woods. You shouldn't have to lock your doors. You shouldn't have to be mindful of your password credentials online. You shouldn't have to worry about a doctor giving bad medical advice. The reality is, the best person to look out for you is YOU, not your bestie, not a bartender, not some random people at the club. You. Cry foul and unfair all you want but if you want to avoid these things then you and only you have to take responsibility for your safety. This includes minding what your eating and drinking in these environments. Never leave a drink unattended or accept one from a stranger's hand (or perhaps even an acquaintance}. If you simply must get hammered just do it at home with only trusted friends or family. Or you can just roll the dice, but it sure does suck to lose.
I love this song. It helped me process some of the trauma I have experienced, I felt seen and heard. I prefer the acoustic version, Yungbluds voice shines and is more emotional in that one. I used to work in the mental health field and I appreciate that you are looking at it through the perspective of the predator for a few reasons. You didn't blame the victim, you didn't focus on what she could have done to stop it... And, because it gives the hope that if we continue conversations about "what happened to cause this person's behavior"... we can hopefully spark change to make the world a little safer for everyone. I appreciate you!
7:05 in a random messing around freestyle he did he says “Acappella with the flow I don't gotta write it. I see what I say before I say it, feel like a psychic” so I’d assume he does see words before he says them
I really appreciate the emotion. I also appreciate that you took back your apology.! We need to normalize crying and allowing others to cry. Crying is brave, powerful, and needed and healthy release. It's sad we naturally feel we have to apologize when they cry and sadder still that we can handle the discomfort of seeing other cry. We need to learn to just sit and hold space for people and their emotions.
It strikes me how many people completely miss the fact that Ren's faith is ultimately what delivers him from psychoses. "I was made by his hand it's part of his plan that I stand on my own two feet." Also how many people dismiss that the dark side of Ren as simply a psychological aspect of his personality when it is literally the demon himself. Ren explains this explicitly but based on responses this is largely ignored. Not surprising in this day and age.
I love your videos I’ve never had a therapist but know I need one and know I don’t have the money to afford you but only want you as my therapist keep up the great work man 🩵
It is 100% a logical reason not to and to me it respects the message fully. I think everyone who watches that series will have their own internal thoughts and digesting those is the point of him releasing the series imo. The first one absolutely crushed me and had me ugly crying for an hour thinking of my friend who died 20 years ago. I pushed that pain down for way too long and that video made me realize I need to talk to someone about it and heal.
Does anyone know if there are more songs like this and Denial. These are probably some of my favorite juice songs and I’d love to know if there’s more like them
One of his best freestyles (best in my opinion) is “fire in the booth” at one point he has words thrown at him to incorporate in the next line, super dope. you should check it out if you want to see more freestyles
Yes as someone diagnosed w GAD w/ panic attacks, ptsd, adhd, ocd, bipolar, and more.. substances make me function better in general. I’m not the same human when I’m on benzos, oxy, etc. I break out of the scared shell of a person and can function properly
