What I did was go to RockAuto.com and compared parts between a1988 300e and a 1984 190 e. From the website it looks the same part numbers. Do your research for a confirmation. Thank you.
The last time i did this kind of job was on my 71 carmaro 45 years ago. That was easy. This looks painful. One of my daughter's friends has a 2009 model with problems. So, thank you for your video. It will be helpful. I was wondering. With all the work involved, maybe you should have replaced the thrust bushing and removed alittle more to replace the crank seal.
All Rear wheel American Cars back in the day were easier to service. I watched other Videos both Good ones and bad ones to get an idea of what to do and what Not to do. The crank seal Thrush bushing were OK. The car had 43,694 miles when the items were changed. The only reason we had to do do the work was that the Throwout bearing failed and did not want to damage anything else. We changed the clutch because while you have it all apart might as well replace the clutch as well as the throwout bearing.
Wouldn't it be easier, in the long run, if you separated the trans from the bell housing? It looks like there would be room to extract each from the vehicle to give better access to the clutch assembly.
I did separate the Bell housing from the engine. It gives you just enough room to remove and install the Clutch and throw out Bearing by loosening the front sub-frame bolts. (NOT REMOVING THEM)This car was a 2005 Accent. I don't know if for 2009 they redesigned the front sub-frame so you do not have to Loosen the Front 2 bolts.
I did not replace the pull strings seperately. I replaced the Whole assembly. You could contact the manufacturer from where I purchased the item.......... support@generalawnings.com............. They could tell you what type of Pull string to use and the length.
My abs pump stays on all the time and the light is on all the time, i disconnected the cable from the abs pump so jow i have no abs. I checked all the fuses and sensors everything is fine, could it be q wireing issue? Like a rat earing a cable or something? Can someone find me a abs wireing diagram dor my w124 e230 1992 in german if possible.
I am Not Familiar with the Isofix Baby seat holder. I Suggest you look up other RU-vidrs for guidence. I looked for the subject below. ru-vid.com?search_query=install+base+car+seat+with+isofix
The Alternator was not charging the battery. In a previous video I showed what a Working Alternator should show on a volt meter in Volts. With the all the accessories on. and OFF.
@@itcanbedone4721 Good evening Sir. Thanks for your answer. I will check the video you mentioned. I got a 250D. When I test the alternator work on battery it seems okay.(about 13v to 14). But when I drive my battery got low and low battery warning light is ON (and ABS one of course). from France
@@antonmk1244 I rewatched my video Titled "1986 Mercedes 300e W124 Purchase gets a New Voltage Regulator' How old is your Battery?? If you look at my Video After I changed the Regulator in the Alternator It read 14.3 Volts. Before you change the alternator Check out the Battery First. That's my opinion.
@itcanbedone4721 The battery is a recent beautiful Bosch. So... Tomorrow I may check the cables, especially the + one from alternator to battery. I also may test B+ on alternator. You may be right. I may have to replace the regulator on alternator, if i could find one with same Bosch serial number (or I may buy one which is not made by Bosch).
Do you have a Digital Voltmeter to confirm to voltage readings? You say the battery is recent. If Changing the regulator does not help, The Alternator is bad. @@antonmk1244
Can ı ask something? I have a 88model 300d 4matic I need abs sensor but somebody says if you have 4matic car you can’t find because its different than regular models. Is it true or not?
From what I can see, 1988 300D 4Matic with Vin WDB124330… needs A1245401417 and A1245401517, both still available at Mercedes for 82€. It is a different number for 1988 300E though, yes
For me it was easier to use a Press. Had more Control over the Removal instead of Hitting it with a Hammer. Auto Zone in My area has a Free Loan a Tool program. Use your charge card for a deposit. You can Keep it for up to 90 days. NAME of Tool on AZ website is OEMTOOLS Ball and U joint press set Part #57023 and OEMTOOLS Master Ball Joint Set Part # 57310
If you are near an Auto parts Store that has free loaner tools for Ball Joint Removal and Installation. Get it. Have it as Back up. When you are Finished you get your Deposit Back. That is what I did For the 1986 300E Video Dated Nov 24, 2023 It went alot Easier. Instead of Swinging away with a Mallet. Hoping Not to hit the Fender.
An interesting version of this task. Like you said, a zerk fitting would have helped that ball joint last longer. Definitely check the other side as it is the same age/mileage as the one that failed.
I have the same problem ahd I've just removed the front headliner above the window and its soaked, but I don't understand how the water gets in those runners, is there holes in the body work underneath them? Are they rust holes? If not surely there shouldn't be anykind of holes there anyway.
Dirt and road salt collects under the black trim. It sits there for years causing rust holes. Using the clear Chalking along the Black trim solved my problem. You don't say how old your car is or what state or country your car is in. My car is from New Jersey and was never Garaged.
Another awesome video !! Have a quick question if I may : Why not froze the ball joint for 2 days in the freezer like you did on the other side ? Thank you and keep these great videos coming !
I was Trying out Different ways to Remove and to install the ball joints. On the 88 330e the old ball joint came apart on the road. The 86 300e the Front end started Squeaking and did not want to go through having the car Towed home. I wanted to see how the Auto Zone Loaner Tools worked out. Thanks for watching my Home Movies
Thank you so much for this great idea, I have a 2013 Craftsman YT-3000 tractor that I've owned since new and I was converting it back and forth with the changing seasons every year so it wasn't a problem checking the tire pressure before installing my spare set of winter rims with tires & chains permanently installed each year, but now I bought a new summer mower so all of my winter accessories including the weights stay on this one full time now. I performed your modification to the weights yesterday using a multi size step bit (very handy from Harbor Freight) and it turned out perfect, but I'm waiting on a pair of 4" valve stem extensions which will arrive next week to finish the job, I bought a pair of straight solid 1 piece stainless steel & another pair of braided stainless steel hose flexible ones on Amazon to see which ones will work out the best. 😊
That oil change was filmed Oct 2021 with 44,043 miles. As of Oct 2023 it reads 45,801 miles. I change the oil & filter Once a year. The Car has a 5 speed Manual Transmission. You can watch how I changed the Throw out bearing & Clutch Assembly I filmed back in June 2021.
Going to try this out! It's been driving my wild not having my sun visors fold all the way up to the ceiling. I might lubricate around the insert where it touches the vinyl to hopefully eliminate the creaking
theres a screw at bottom of oil tube that lets oil out and drops out through the hole on the deck. just put a container under mower and it collects the oil. your done.
Thanks for Watching. At the end of the day it wasn't the Regulator ( Had a spare New Voltage Regulator). It needed a rebuilt Alternator. I made a Video about that also.
