@@kimblakely4559 Good comment! I used review at the start of the videos, but have forgotten to lately. I use Shimano Ocea Conquest 300's and Daiwa Tatula 300/400's loaded with 30# Daiwa jbraid. My favorite rod is the Xesta Slow Emotion 684, which isn't made any more. I also have and use a Synit, Palmarius. I usually use 4 feet of 40# flouro for a leader. Feel free to post any other questions you have, always happy to reply!
@@Nipomopolo23 the tatula/lexa 400 holds 400 yards of 30# braid. That is my estimate and not measured on a line counter. I have an ocea jigger 4000 for if i ever fish really deep water like over 1000 feet.
I'm going to come out with a video soon, I'll show how I rig my hooks. I don't use assist cord, i use swivels and split rings for my hook to jig connections.
@@socaljiggingwithjohnny8287 well it’s always a enjoyable and inspiring video for jiggers to watch you clips hope things fall in your favor to get back on the tight line. PS watching your videos made me want to get into jigging. Just looking for a affordable rod that can take a beating.
Hey Johnny, I was wondering the same thing, where can I find the rail protecter you use on your rods? I've searched everywhere and can't seem to find them.
I actually took a line keeper they use on Asian tenkara rods and modified it into that rail protector. I haven't been able to find the same line keeper since. It was on Ali Express.
i see you used the tranx now your using a lexa. if i had to buy just one reel which one do you reccomend. gear ratio specs would be nice and where do you get your upgraded handles?
I loved the size and feel of the tranx, and bought three of them after fishing one. But then the drags started backing off on their own while fishing, on all three. So when the tatula 400 came out and I tried it, I liked it and replaced the tranx with them. I also prefer the 6.3 gear ratio on the tatula/Lexa. I think the tatula 400 is a great all around reel for 20 through 40 pound line. Fill it with 30-50# braid and top shot it with whatever you need. It is much cheaper buying the tatula from Japan, especially because of the favorable exchange rate right now.
I like it alot so far. Good line capacity, smooth drag. So far I haven't had any of the drag issues I had with the tranx. It can't beat the insane smoothness if the ocea conquest, but the extra 100 yards of 30# braid are really handy.
I'll love to see you do a tackle and rod and reel break down down for jigging. I notice you and another guy you fish with younger guy place the assisted hooks on the split ring. At the top. Want to learn more before I make my first purchase and your in my neck of the woods.
Hey! Love your videos! I saw you are using tenkara line keeper to protect the rod. Do you have a link or so where to get that one? Do they come with the velcro or you added that yourself?
@@socaljiggingwithjohnny8287 Oh wow thanks for the info. Do you mind sending a photo or so of them so I can search for a similar one? I saw some but they did not have such a long "plate" on the one side only 2 rings where you would put the line inside
