Fish Hunt Northwest is a weekly "LIVE" web-based Fishing and Hunting talk show for the entire Northwest. Great information, with "In-Studio Guest", tons of "How-To's" for both Fishing & Hunting, "Fishing Reports" "Weather Reports" and always a Fish, Fowl or Game "Cooking Segment", every week. LIVE Thursdays 6-7pm.
So good to see you're still at it and looking good, my OLd friend. Here in SE AZ. where fishing went to die, I still dream of getting back up there and break out my spoon collection and get'm wet. Thanks for your mentorship that led to a ton of good memories!!!😁
All good information !!! Thanks for the video. I thought that I was the only guy with down riggers on a drift boat... Snap weights are my go to gear now.
It is behind the diver. Sometimes the shrimp grabs bottom and hangs up. Before I used bead chains, I experienced losing my leader with only a few inchs left on the diver. The only thing I could assume is the diver cut my leader. I started using bead chain swivels and it's never happened since. Just my assumption...
@@FishHuntNorthwest I wondered if that was the reason. Thank you so much for the clarification. I love your videos? I have learned a lot from them. Please keep them coming!
Great how-to with the rigging. Must have been thirty boats out there? Might as well give us the Lat and Lon - an outbound heading? and it was 800'?? Thanks for a great vid to enjoy and learn something!!. Nice flat water to boot!!. Gonna save those tuna bellies for sure.
Fire Brine works also, this process will have a longer storage success. The shrimp will still be fishable a few years from now, if needed. Fire Brine will not last as long...
Thanks for the tips man! Super generous of y’all to have all of this available to the public. I’ve already put more fish on the bank just by watching a few of your videos🔥
If you get fresh shrimp that has not been blanched/boiled, it's pretty quick and easy. Bring water in a pot to a boil put the shrimp in some type of strainer or colander you can dunk into the boiling water. They only need to be in there for a minute or so or until they turn color much like cooking crab. Pull them out dump them into cold water in the sink or a container with water and ice in it you want to cool them down right away.
Always love hearing what The General has to say. My only advice for anyone wanting to learn how to swing metal for fish is to pick a place where you'll be rewarded for your actions. I learned more in a week swinging metal for aggressive summer runs up in BC than anything else. Getting rewarded with a many fish per day while only swinging metal quickly helps one learn what to do and more importantly NOT to do. A NW angler would be lucky to get a single winter run fish per float on most of our rivers.
We are with Edge Rods. The Edge 360 Pro is Designed to be fished with lead, like in the Columbia River or even when using just lead for trolling in Puget Sound fishing shallow for Coho. It also performs extremely well in a downrigger for Salmon troll fisheries. You can get them in a 10' 6" or 9'4" it just depends what works well for the size of your boat. They also come in a 4, 5 or 6 power. So a 10' 6" 5 power, would be a 1065. It is a 12-30 lb. rated rod 😉
@@FishHuntNorthwest What do the break away cord due compared to a regular flasher? Also, I didn't see them on the website... Do you have a link? Thanks
@@NghiaPham-xi5so When the flasher breaks-away, it releases the drag on the flasher, so you are fighting just the fish, not the drag of the flasher. The flasher is still there, but hanging by one end so it no longer digs or pulls resistance. It's helpful, it keeps your line tight to the fish resulting in great hook-up to land ratio
Hey Duane, thanks again for sharing your coon shrimp cure! I filled two quart jars with my 2lb box of shrimp from Ray’s Baits, the same as you use, however, I still have a little leftover frozen shrimp. How much cured shrimp do you normally get out of a 2lb box? I don’t want to overfill my quart jars. I feel like they are very full.
@@fishingwithfoxxxy1371 Wiggle Wart or Mag Wart with hooks removed, will work, although can flip over sometimes depending on the current, due to the extra drag on the plug with the leader and bait. The bait divers have a longer, wider and thinner diving bill and are designed to keep your bait down. That being said, you can use plugs vs divers and probably find success.
@@FishHuntNorthwest makes sense trying to bonk my first steelhead and or springer on the cow not much info on where to go to try for springers from the bank
Your videos are fantastic the only problem is you’re not including links to these products like the Ace high flies and the Chrome scale glow smile blades that would be so helpful and spent hours looking for the stuff in Canada
Chinook Salmon is open in Area 13, jigging or trolling can be productive. Resident Coho will open in Area 10 June 1st and Chinook will also open in Area 11 June 5th.
Correct, it will open back up July 13th. Just catching up on posting some of our content for future use.. Also, Area 13 is open all year, so the information is applicable..
Now that I have more than a couple of years of fishing 360's and a couple hundred fish of data points, I'll say 2 things: 1). Breakaways do not matter. What matters more is keeping CONSTANT pressure on the 360 by reeling. Never stop reeling when fishing a 360. Keep a solid bend in your rod at all times. 2). You get a ton of strikes and misses on 360's. You have to pull up and reset your breakaways on a missed strike. That takes you out of the water and stops you from fishing on a hot bite.
