One thing I noticed is no one really looked to initiate contact on their drives… the went straight to the basket and allowed themselves to get bumped instead of establishing their presence on the attack like most players do today.
I'm from this era & in no way do i wanna see this 💩 again, it's crazy to see my generation & others claim this was cool & want it back in order for them to watch/enjoy the game, but these same type of people be in the crowd bout to fight coaches/refs & all when they son get fouled lighter than this in a game whether it be high-school or AAU 🤔😏 Who wants to watch 3rd & 4th string players play NBA basketball because the franchise & glue guys are hurt due to a mf with no defensive skill using his strength to just take them out because he can't hold them within the rules 🥺👎😡
@@cyber6sapien what’s your point? They are in the league still and they are 3 generational talents. But neither made it out the 1st round last year. If you put all 3 together right now in the NBA they will win the chip but separately the league is so skilled that they may not make it out the first round again.
@@hg4956 "They are in the league still" - LMAO! They are ages 39, 36 and 35 respectively. A generation in basketball isn't the same length of time as a generation in ordinary life. And team USA isn't some random collection of NBA players. It's the best collection of American talent that the NBA has. If the current generation of players are so skilled, then they shouldn't have to rely on the talent of an older generation of players to get the job done. We saw what happened when the current generation of talent was sent out to compete internationally. They didn't even medal.
This is what i hate, this so called "physical defense" is nothing more than hard dirty fouls, and these mfers get credit for this shitty excuse of defense 😭💀
Only one I’ve seen a legit father step was by far pippens. Show a great demonstration of what it looks like in todays game, the others did it unconsciously. Now that the gather step is known, people will mimic it and make variants of it
NBA just simply allow a certain amount of travel in today's game to make NBA more exciting to watch. When low scoring ball games and heavy defense style of play are no longer fun to watch, NBA tweeks some of the rules.
If course not… This transition moment between the dribble run and the lay up has always existed. The dribble stops when you put one hand under the ball or both hands on it. This moment has always existed and has always caused this debate.
@@flyingisland7583 If you have watched basketball in the last 60 years, you know this thing has been a debate for the last ten years, fifteen tops. Prior to that, it was very easy. Every single travel was called in Europe, and 85% of travels were called in the Nba. Now the Nba calls 5% of travels and in Europe they call more or less 30%. It is a disgrace, and the same thing can be said for the dribble.
Dude they should have a purge week in the NBA. Instead of all star weekend. Let players play dirty like 80s players. Think about it. Pat Bev could be the MVP. Can you imagine Devin Booker throwing foul tantrums because Luka is threw an elbow in the post?
This isn’t “real” basketball. This isn’t “skill”. This is a bunch of coked up defenders with no lateral agility or coordination tackling the even lesser skilled offensive player. We don’t with the 80s!!!
Really. This lame shit they play today is like the NBA version of turning the NFL into flag football...except they actually did it, and pretend they didn't
Nice to read these comments and not feel alone about hating the new zero step rule which has enabled widespread -what used to be called- travelling with full on 3+ steps.
what the hell. bird's footwork is so damn quick. even when slowed down it's just so much quicker than everyone else. people who call him unathletic are heretics. and the core strength and perfect balance needed to shoot those fadeaways... true ballers know.
Bullshit. Picking the ball up after your foot has left the ground means your next foot is still your first step. Today they are picking the ball up while their foot is still on the ground and THEN taking three steps. It is blatant and it is awful and it is ruining the game. Sorry, has ruinED the game. It's a joke.
These were nothing like today’s NBA. Most of your zero steps here happened at the same time the ball was bounced. That wouldn’t be considered a father step. Secondly, many of the 2 steps were not an extra step. They simply put their foot down and then jumped off both of them at the same time. That’s not another step and nothing like the full 3-4 (sometimes more) steps they take after they’ve picked up the basketball in today’s NBA.
there were some hacker basketball fouls. but when you watch full games, the defense is a joke compared to today. could you imagine lambier trying to guard anyone today? his ankles would be broke so quick he wouldn't get a chance to hit them.
Now, how many times have You seen Some "special" players take an entire 4 Steps to the basket withOUT anyone around or near them? WithOUT A Violation being called?! Hmmmm... Referee or Fan? Calling the Game or Watching them play?
