2:22 can you explain why the harp melody is playing notes outside of the key of C Major? i believe its hitting an F# at one point. when would you do this in a melody and what kind of effect is it supposed to give off?
Yoo you are very sharp for noticing that!:) Just because we were in the scale of C it doesn’t mean you always have to stick to it. A scale in this case C major is just a set organised group of sounds, but sometimes you want to experiment with other flavours too. If you play something Inside the key the word for that is “Diatonic”. And if you go outside the key it’s called “Non-Diatonic”. You can end up completely changing the key midway the song or changing the key while passing chords or a melody in this case just to a little bit of tension and more flavour to it, there are truly no rules to music, as long as it sounds good! 😁 there are plenty of great music theory tutorials on RU-vid who do a better job at explaining it I would recommend you to watch some of it!:)
@@ThomasCameUp awesome man! thank you for this write up. im still very new to production and music theory so ur explanations are always helpful. as always man, ty for everything you do <3
Always nice to see a new upload especially for another song of Poison Ivy, these videos are phenomenal and inspire me to make stuff when I see them keep up the good work boss
saw someone on reddit mention a specific ableton effect rack used on the siren when the track dropped, my theory is that its that applied to maybe the ripsquad scream since wa has used edited versions of that sound before (trash star is the most obvious)
yo could you remake "silver arrows" off stranger? i rlly like the nostalgic feel of the synth lead in that one. but i know you get a lot of requests! i just wanna say thank you for everything man. you're a goat.
I do not understand anything abt production but these are still very cool to watch so good on ya brooo😤might give it a try someday u make it look easy lol
