That sidechain shit is for edm broski. In trap it's all about finding the right kick for your 808, like for example the rack kick and spinz 808. No need for sidechain there, just leveling.
Sure when you find a kick and 808 we’re the phase aligns. You don’t always have to sidechain to fix an issue you can also like the sound what the effect brings. But just do what ever works for you
@@ThomasCameUp I do agree in essence, and drain gang you definitely can get away with some edm flair. However, trap in general is quite a raw and dirty genre. People have kind of come to expect no compromise between the kick and the 808. The secret is basically leveling+clipping, and use short punchy kicks that only overlap on the transient of the 808. Kicks play a much different role in edm,, which is why they want their kicks to punch through. Their kicks are usually longer, take up a full beat, and have a boomy tail. Whereas in trap they are pretty much optional and only add punch.
