Is there a boat launch near there? Is there any laws/regulations for the size boat you can take there? I got a 17 foot Crestliner I wanna take out when crabbing season opens up again. Never been crabbing before, would be sick to go there for the first time.
@@WoodyyPryorr Mine already had it mostly set up when I bought it. You’ll obviously need a starter motor and solenoid to be wired up. The battery cables looked like they were directly connected to the solenoid. My motor came with a Yamaha 7 pin wiring harness but the previous owner cut the plug off.. so I directly wired and spliced a Yamaha key switch to the harness. I just googled a Yamaha ignition diagram to match all the colors for wiring
@@sacratboatingandfishing smart work man that’s awesome i’m not sure where to start mine seems to have no sort of ignition and the slot for it is empty as if someone had taken it out
@@WoodyyPryorr I sold the motor otherwise I’d send you some photos. There’s some good diagrams online. You’ll need a wiring harness and match the colors to each part. Mine had a fuse between the ignition coil and starting solenoid I believe. Good luck man 👍
Nice job getting it running. Did you do a compression test after you got it running? If your gauge is accurate you need to be running race gas. Anything over 180 psi you don't want to run pump gas.
I recommend starting off with a Kawasaki with a reed motor like the 92 and newer 550SX, any 650 or 750. Do a compression test and make sure it has good spark. The first project ski I brought was a Seadoo. After working on Kawasaki skis i won't touch Seadoos. Too much of a pain in the neck.
Excellent videos! I’ve got a 1995 Nissan 25 HP. All of sudden it started idling super high to the point I just shut off because I’m scared something’s gonna happen. I never adjusted either screw. Should I just let it run and see if it settles down? What could cause this super high idle?
@@EthantheIncredible Thanks man. You could take the airbox off and see the position of the butterfly inside carb. Adjusting the idle screw will adjust the butterfly. You could try backing the screw out a bit if it looks like the butterfly is cracked open too far which lowers the idle speed. If that doesn’t work then you could try adjusting air mixture screw. Do both adjustments in small 1/4 turns till you find the sweet spot
@@Bricks707 Ive been seeing a few posts from people lately that their boats been stolen it’s so effed up. Just have one ski now. Usually just fix stuff up, enjoy it for a bit, sell, then repeat.
@@williamardenjr116they were made by both. In the 80s-early 90s it was Yamaha and mid 90s-2000s it was Mercury. This motor is an 80s model it was made by Yamaha
It’s actually not the same company that makes Nissan cars it’s a different one with the same name that’s why they where discontinued because of copyright
@@tucanman9775 For a motor that hasn’t ran in 30 years starting fluid is a solvent that removes the oil from the cylinders so premixed fuel is better to not blow up a piston
Those are fun to ride. A bit of a learning curve. You seem to take to it pretty quickly. Easy to transport and they don't take up alot of space. Great find.
