Jeremy and Edward were the best to play Sherlock and Wattson🙏I still watch the series over and over till this day,I can’t get over the brilliant acting!!
The very handsome actor Jeremy Brett was a brilliant actor who portrayed Sherlock Holmes to perfection. Basil Rathbone was equally as good as Jeremy but I found Jeremy was that little bit better RIP JEREMY I miss you...
I'm not sure if people are aware, but the original SIDNEY PAGET ILLUSTRATIONS, and HISTORICAL ACCURACY, featured prominently in the series. Not only did they show the original illustrations during the final credits (at least of the first series) and at the commercial breaks, but they also DELIBERATELY TRIED TO MAKE THE ACTORS LOOK THE WAY THEY APPEARED IN THE ILLUSTRATIONS, AND ACTUALLY SET UP THE SCENES TO ALSO MIRROR THEM🙂🙂.... The makers were obsessive about HISTORICAL AUTHENTICITY down to the SMALLEST details - even the way a striking match would flare up (apparently due to the chemical composition of matches at that time it would have been different)!!! These aspects make watching the series as close as possible an experience to reading the original, illustrated stories with all their poignancy and atmosphere, and give the episodes a unique FEEL and pleasure ❤❤❤
He was married first to Anna Massey (div) then later to Joan who died from cancer as he says in the interview. He then went on to form a relationship with an American male actor. That actor died from HIV related illness. Brett (real name Huggins) die from lung cancer from smoking .
I discovered the Granada Sherlock Holmes series at my local library in early 90s they had many of the episodes on VHS in the plastic clam shells. Is check it out for a few days then when I had to return it I would ask if I can re check it out again right now they would say yes as long as there's no one else that's requested it. My fingers were always crossed as they checked and breathed a sigh of relief when they said I can have it again cuz there's no holds on it. Then the excitement of knowing that tape was mine for another few days so I can go home and re-watch it again .... Ah good times and memories.
I have the complete Granada series on VHS and still watch them. We have Sherlock Holmes Saturdays where we watch at least two episodes. This past weekend was the creeping man and the illustrious client. Jeremy Brett is my favorite Sherlock Holmes by far not even close
I cannot believe I am commenting on a post 16 years old! Thank you for making this great tribute to Mr. Jeremy Brett. I wish he had lived long enough to see just how adored he really is. ❤
He shared so many of the same characteristics of Sherlock Holmes. His habits, isolation, perfect mania were Why He was the Actor Born to play and Become Sherlock Holmes...All of his flaws made him a Remarkable, talented person who died Way too soon...Its nice to see people still Remember and Lovely Talented Actor...I hope He had a good Life beyond his Role as Shelock Holmes .❤🌹 R I P....,
I have developed a kind of fantasy crush on Jeremy Brett. His facial affectations as Sherlock kind of drive me crazy sometimes, and there is some mildly smoldering, barely recognizable, but never acted on sexuality there, as it should be..if being true to the Doyle's stories. I've never seen someone smile so quickly, but he is never boring to watch...his eyes alone speaking volumes and so incredibly talented as Sherlock. I recently fell into watching the Granada Sherlock shows after I watched, all the Basil & Nigel movies I could find...some more than once. Love B&G for different reasons. Basil Rathbone is legendary and Nigel Bruce is really quite comical and very much the bumbling & lovable Dr. Watson, (falling asleep when he's supposed to be watching out or guarding,)lots of mumbling, grumbling) as opposed to later interpretations of the character. I understand that the Granada Sherlock production was shown on PBS in the states back in the day. I watched some PBS then, but don't recall this show or didn't have the sense or the better developed taste in entertainment that I do now, some 30+ years later. So glad it's now available on RU-vid! 😊
Sherlock Holms is someone I so enjoy watching him. I use to think thst Basil Rathbone was the best, but I was wrong , Jeremy will always be Mr. Sherlock Holmes. It is a shame that he died so young.
He had a guest role in "Galactica 1980". Nostalgia Critic was right when he said the whole show should have been centered around him. Imagine "SPACE Jeremy Brett". Should have killed off the kids (offscreen) and had the show be about him. Would have lasted several seasons.
