You will always be remembered our beloved plane… you were such a amazing plane and we could not stand a chance without you…. Rip, the airberlin airplane..💔🕊️ fly high!🕊️ Edit: BERLIN 4 EVR💔
It's called "water salute" an is a celebration for special occasions like first and last flights of airlines at an airport, the first arrival of a special new aircraft type for the first time at an airport or it's retirement. Sometimes even the retirement of some pilots is celebrated this way. In this case it's even a double water salute to celebrate the end of a very special airline for Berlin
Air Berlin had quite some history in Berlin starting during times when West Berlin was enclaved. Later it became pretty much the flag carrier airline of Berlin and expanded into other cities. So the end of Air Berlin was a huge event for Berlin's aviation. You can look up the history, it's quite interesting :)
This, is why I am the persons, which I am now. Airberlin changed my life m. With 6 month of age I had my first flights to Mallorca, from Cologne or Düsseldorf with the LTU A330, during summer 2006. Al I did was just being crazy about flying and airberlin. With 1, 2, 3, 4, ... years, I were not able to stop talking about flights, flying and how beautiful and cool it is. My family still remembers. I only flew airberlin, Condor (Thomas cook) and that was all. I flew only once with another airline. I remember this flight, and I remember many many situation where so flew with airberlin. Sometimes it was at night, sometimes it was over the day. So many memories. 2016 than an airberlin A320 (1:200) became my best Whatsapp profile picture, there, my world was still alright and the next flight with airberlin was close. The last time was in a Boeing 737. From Palma to Cologne. I did not expected this being my last airberlin flight. After I realized that airberlin will never be flying again on the 29th of October 2017 my life changed. It changed very much, from a kid just wanted to become a pilot to a kid started learning about aviation, management, and the airline history. This airline had such a great influence on me, that it is still hard for me to think of any other airline as my Favorit airline than airberlin. Every time I think of airberlin I start thinking about the airline and missing the airline. It is soo sad that they are gone.
Air Berlin was *the* airline in TXL for many years and had a very close connection to the history of Berlin's aviation (even back when there was the wall), so it was very important to the people and to the airport. Other airports would probably do the same when they lose such an important customer. Thanks for watching!
Brings back memories of Ansett Australia's collapse. My dad was with Ansett for over 20 years. So sad to see airlines like Ansett and Air Berlin gone from the skies.
This video made me cry... That was a fantastic airline and that it had to end operations in 2017 is so sad( I love Germany and I've been in Berlin for many times and all my flights was with this stunning airline!
