Even veterans have to follow protocol. This guy was just making a spectacle of himself. Probably to get a little attention on youtube. It's like the open carry clowns bringing AR-15S into places like Chipotle and Applebee's. They said it was because of a protest and all it did was get those places to outlaw people from bringing in guns. You go to government buildings telling people to shut up and acting like you don't have to follow rules, they'll kick and keep you out. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
First of all, this guy's status as a "disabled veteran" is completely irrelevant. Secondly, the video is highly edited so it's difficult to know what actually happened. Third, it's been upheld by the US Supreme Court that these rules put in place at public meetings are completely lawful. If there were no rules what prevents some whackadoodle from standing up there for an hour discussing whatever they like? If these people don't like what their council members are doing (the ones THEY voted in) then they should either initiate a recall vote, if allowed, or vote them out in the next election.
SC does not allow recalls, the "man" who ordered Mr. Roote's removal is a lame duck chairman and has already been voted out. You're missing some context here however, the chairman routinely gavels down content criticizing his illegal and immoral actions and has repeatedly shown that in his eyes the amount of time allowed is content based and has nothing to do with any actual "rules". Also.... These are rules, this isn't law were talking about, rules made up by a handful of men lining their own pockets and making backroom deals at the expense of the people they broken their oaths again and again to. There's a lot more going on here than this brief clip encompasses, come on down to a Kershaw County Council meeting some time and see fore yourself
Totally agree with you. The disabled veteran status do not give you the right to brake the law and being disorderly. The video it's extremely edited, and we only get 2:45 of the entire event. We all have to obey the rules, laws and regulations, and as a disabled veteran he should know thar really well. We as DV's are held at a higher standard and his behavior was unacceptable and the charges were warranted.
@@axelcrespo6842 that's the most absurdly bootlickery, fascist thing I've seen written to date. Firstly, these aren't laws, they're county council rules, made up by a county council that has shown time and time again a refusal to listen to their constituency. Secondly, as prior service you would, hopefully, understand that regardless of who is issuing an order, if that order is immoral or unconstitutional, you not only have a right to refuse but a sacred duty to do so. Again, I will say, as you mentioned you are only seeing a brief and edited portion of what occured, that is in part because the County Council chairman, in his infinite cowardice, muted the mics and cut the feed. What we have here is a man, standing up for not only what he believes is right but what is an inalienable right for all humans, the right to express ourselves in whatever manner we see fit up to the point of infringing on another's right to the same. The only immoral and illegal acts that occured on this video are the chairman silencing a citizen and the Sheriff breaking his oath by bending the knee to that tyrant and dragging a man to the ground and arresting him on nonsensical charges.
@@stevefleischman6066 Again, if you bothered to read, the Supreme Court has said public council meetings are allowed to have rules which limit the type and length of public speech. That, by definition, makes it constitutional regardless of what your personal "legal" opinion is. The council meetings are typical 1-2 hours long and nobody attending wants to hear Steve get up in front and ramble on for an hour about whatever happens to pop into your brain that day. If you don't like the rules then run for city council yourself or recall the council members that the voters put into office. I guarantee you if you were sitting in a council seat and had to listen to inane ramblings for 6 or 7 hours you would see the light.

IF I felt the need to steal the wealth of others while constantly belittling them and trampling on their rights by becoming a Councilman, I'm quite sure that the light I'd see would be serving my citizens by listening to their grievances instead of fiddling with my phone and having the dragged from the room. This county council has made it abundantly clear they are going to do whatever they want, by whatever questionably legal means they see fit, there's genuinely no purpose in even having these council meetings at this point. They don't and won't listen, we HAVE already voted several out, and that seems to have only emboldened the lame duck members to kick their disregard for the citizens up a notch.
Utterly disgraceful conduct by the County Council, brother Mark deserved his 5 minutes as did everyone else, and I hope he wins the lawsuit and has those BS charges dropped.
