WORLD OF NATIONS: A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS
SANDERSON, TX - The southern border of Texas is experiencing the largest flow of undocumented migrants in U.S. history. A record 1.3 million apprehensions, with over 25% involving repeat crossers, per the Texas Department of Public Safety.
This humanitarian crisis is exemplified in Terrell County, Texas-where American hill country meets the Chihuahuan Desert. Population 674, per the 2022 United States Consesis Bureau.
"We've always had people walk across the border... but when you have over 100 countries coming across the border, it's an issue... the action is illegal," said Terrell County Judge Dale Lynn Carruthers.
County Judge Carruthers' subdivision covers 1,509,120 acres of canyon country, with 91 miles adjacent to the Mexico Border. Apprehensions have increased 300% since Jan. 2021, according to Late Terrell County Sheriff Santiago Gonzales Jr.
This report features the first CPB-approved ride-along with US Border Patrol in over three years, with unparalleled testimonies from two US/Mexico border ranchers.
