And for the love of god DON'T use nappy wipes. I head out so often and see them thrown into the scrub by people thinking they will break down, they don't so don't use them.

Hi Gordon, thank you for your time to make this video, I would add some small dog poop bags and a plastic towel just in case, muchly appreciated thank you, I agree 100% with you. Respect for the environment.

I always tend to light my paper before putting any form of flammable liquid on my hands. If you, like this, guy want to do it first please let it all evaporate off your skin before lighting up 😂 Great video though mate. More people need to understand things like this to make everyone’s adventures better.

Too many people don't know how to respectfully shit in the bush. So much bare shit and toilet paper out in the bush these days. I carry a poop kit every trip, and I make a point telling people I go with about the importance of it. With the amount of people going bush these days it's important knowledge to pass on.

😂 So funny Gordo !!! I live in South Africa now… where they crap & pee everywhere & anywhere! Toilet paper is a luxury & dirty jocks can be found without looking. But at least the freedom here is unreal, compared to Australia where you soon won’t be able to even walk through the bush, let alone take a dump!! All the best with that Buddy 👍🇿🇦

I went to SERE school level C with MARSOC back in 2010 not all the training was realistic enough to trigger a physiological response but some of it sure was. I think the training could be enhanced by a class on this topic that teaches the students the effects on the mind and our response to it. This should aid in recovery time and a faster ability to get on with the mission or recover from a mission. We talk a lot about speed and violence of action on the objective how about adding the same concept to recovery after an unplanned traumatic event like a helicopter crash or being taken captive. Knowing what is going on in your brain should lead to a much faster recovery and well trained/ thought-out response. Thank you for the video I enjoyed it very much.

They do cover survival psychology in a very general way but it depends on who delivers the lesson! Some f this is covered in CAC I agree. I organised for John to do a talk at CSTS and it was very well received. Thanks for watching.

What was the water jug? Asking for a friend, and are they NATO type openings?
@davidleonard1813
@davidleonard1813 8 дней назад
Kleen Canteen. Single wall stainless steel bottle. Civillian not NATO. It's not a bad bottle rugged enough to boil in a fire. Tastes better than out of a nato bottle. Some active service guys use them. Pretty light good in a pack there's no real option for a pouch to mount it on a belt or pack
@alpinealpine2793
@alpinealpine2793 8 дней назад
@@davidleonard1813 sorry I referring to the green water container you can see towards the end of the video. Any idea about that one?
@davidleonard1813
@davidleonard1813 8 дней назад
Ok I guess you are talking about the Grayl waterfilter/ press container. No it's not NATO compatible. It's a strictly civillian item. Although some countries may issue it I don't know for sure. It's about $100 Aud or Usd around the globe. It works like a French press for coffee. Many videos on it on you tube. It's quick you van press a literally in a few mins then decant it into other bottles. Not something that interests me tbh. I have a more expensive filter same size as a life straw. A 3lt Camel back for dirty water. Hang it let it gravity feed into bottles while I have a brew..good excuse for a longer break😂. When you look it up Grayl have a newer one about 18months ago released. The outside container is titanium and has butterfly handles. Cheers mate hope that answered your question

There are two my observations two types of Bracket fungas that live on She Oak. One is gills longitudinall. The other is honeycomb. The later if avalible,will hold a great spark and keep coaling for hours. Transportable and will light damper kinderling!

As they say, “A little knowledge is a dangerous thing.” I believe that most people go through life singularly lacking in self-awareness and that distorts their perception of reality, especially in their understanding of their own abilities. An example is the case of a person who attends a few martial arts classes and thinks he can take on the world, when in fact he is probably no more capable at fighting or self-defence than someone who has taken no classes at all. It is classic delusion that is probably only going to be dispelled when he actually comes into contact with a more capable opponent. When it comes to Bushcraft and Survival, which I teach, I introduce myself as a student and you should see the looks I get. The fact is that for the appropriately self-aware person, and someone who is humble, they not only have a good grasp of what they don’t know, but they are hungry for more. And it is relative, too. I might appear to be an expert to a person just starting out (and the temptation in some who do not have a handle on their ego is to feed that notion), but I might appear as an amateur to a true “expert”. I would describe myself as an advanced student. I’ve learned a lot, but I will never quit learning. Take plants for instance. I’ve learned so much and yet feel as if I am just scratching the surface. So the Kruger-Dunning effect is more common in people than, perhaps, is even initially apparent. And it doesn’t mean that those people are unintelligent (although they may be that, too), but it simply means that due to (probably) a variety of variables (as well as their ego), they are ignorant of their own limitations and even shortcomings.

A simple rule but one so many flout or completely disregard... Eventually Murphy's Law will catch up with you so making this THE habit is imperative. It's unlikely you will get a tourniquet on your leg fast enough to stay alive if you've severed the femoral artery, even with help. And if society's gone bung, who's comin' to help ya? I've seen people cutting towards the hand, too lazy to turn the job around. Another bad habit. Thank you Gordon for bringing bushcraft to Australia. You Legend mate! 💜👍 Universal Sovereign Citizen
