I am a member of white earth but I was taken to Washington when I was very little but I do not know any of neither of my families. My father’s name was Stephen Andrew Moose but I know that he passed away many years ago now. If I have a native name I don’t know it. I don’t know anything about where I originally came from or my families though. So it was nice to see someone who is from the same place as me. 😊
Native Indian citizens don't mix up with out sides of authentic Native Indian citizens....DIASPORA ORTHODOX ☦ JEWISH COMMUNITY are organized KILLING SPREES
this was so helpful. im from duluth mn and im trying to find ways for myself and my best friend who is ojibwe to connect with the cultural heritage of our land/people. thank you for sharing this!
I had no choice really in cutting down a massive sugar maple about a month ago. It was 33-35" in diameter easily over 150 years old. We were concerned it either fall over on the house or one or more branches would. We all are devastated about taking our friend of 29 years down. It had split in the interior which showed a long crack of long wood at eye level. You could see where the 2-3 layers of bark was growing to heal up itself. Just imagine about a 7-9" wide slit vertically showing the raw wood, apparently the tree had been working to close this gap for quite a few years probably over 10. I have no idea but it was a very long, grueling process for the Maple.😢 So its been over 5 weeks now. Get a load of this part...I noticed several weeks before it was removed that maple went to seed with more seed than anytime that we lived here (1995!). I mean there were thousands and thousands of seed outside, it was incredible. I'm still picking them up. I've never seen so many here. And I could swear this tree was dumping both sized seeds, large ones that resembled wings only 1 half, and tiny ones looking like tadpoles. I thought sugar maples only dropped the medium 2 half spinning ones. I had practically very few of those green ones. I need to do more research. I really believe the Sugar Maple knew it was.going to be cut down fairly soon and was reacting to it being on all of our minds and possibly responding in various ways. True or not I have no idea but its sort of a heart felt situation, an Interesting association if its for real or not. I can't say, we'll probably never know. I never realized how close to a 'tree' one could or would get. We all loved that tree if that's even possible. I did save a huge piece of it I can barely move without a hand truck. Such is life. Sorry bout all that.
I'm non native and live near White Earth. I clean a house for an older couple there. I actually go there tomorrow. I have cookies baking in the oven for them as we speak. They made me a wood sign with my last name carved into it and I show it off in my entryway. They are good hearted people. Be blessed 😊
Beautiful talk. Cass Lake in not a reservation. It is a town inside Gaa-zagaskwaajimekaa-shkonigan Leech Lake Reserved lands. The people call that town Gaa-miskwaa o waakokaag. The US calls it that other name.

Thank you for being here! I learned 5 years ago that my father is Ojibwe and I too have a French great grandfather. I am now trying to learn about this culture and my heritage.
Aanii Boozhoo👋🏻 How are you doing today? My tribe is Swan Creek Ojibwe. I don't know too much of my culture since my grandfather never taught his children his language and customs but I assume that it is due to him being a survivor of the Mount Pleasant Industrial Indian Boarding School. I don't know much of grandpa's language other than a couple simple words like "hi", "thank you," and "goodbye." I would like to learn more one day and I would like to, one day, get my children to learn my grandpa's language and customs. Baamaapii 👋🏻
What a wise and gentle father you have :) I especially enjoyed the stories of the rabbit & the two wolves. We can all learn something from your experiences, thank you for sharing!
My great grandfather was French, my grandma was european, my mother is european and here I am but I'm still trying to learn 😊 papa tried to teach me as much as he could remember from his mother but she had been kidnapped and sent to holy cross catholic school as a little girl.
I wish people would talk more about being light skinned as an Ojibwe. It’s more common than most would think and my heritage often gets disregarded as such.
