A place for me to upload my offroading trips, storm chasing videos, personal photography videos and just plain old have fun! I do it all, on-road, off-road, fire, photography, hiking, etc... you'll notice most offroading content but I do it all!
I would still always put premium in the tank simply because of the additive package you get. And before you say or think it, *it is not snake oil!* It really does protect your engine, particularly the piston rings and cylinder walls, which is the #1 area of engine wear. Under normal operation, fuel will "wash" away the oil film on the compression stroke, meaning the friction reduction that the engine oil normally provides is greatly reduced in the presence of fuel. The friction modifying additives in premium fuel goes a long way to reduce ring and wall wear from normal operation. Even if it costs more per mile, think about how many miles you're adding to the engine. And you still get better range per tank as well.
I guess there must be something wrong with my 2021 Power Wagon because it's just now at 10000 miles still bone stock and I have yet to see anything higher than 13.5 mpg and that's when it's empty...granted I defeat the ECO mode because I don't want to shorten the life of the engine but I know alot of people that do the same thing. Just climbing hills with the cruise control the current mpg number drops to between 3 to 5 until on flat land again!!!
What setting did you change in Forscan? This is the first video I could find on changing it. I’m going to also buy one of those start/stop eliminators. So tired of all the forced “features”. 😂
So I tried TLDR and skipped to what I thought were the important parts and felt dumber for still not understanding why the X-lock was needed, so I forced myself to start from the beginning where I was reminded that the more line you have on your drum, the less towing capacity your winch has (forehead slap). LoL, because I used to help run 6 43 ton (bridge weight) off-road trucks and we only had a side mounted PTO rated for 5,000 pounds and we were very aware of how to get the most out of what we had (use the radio to call another vehicle LoL. Usually you were stuck because a wheel went into a bottomless pothole or mud ridge and all your other 5 foot tall wheels were spinning and you needed just enough assist -you hope- to get that wheel up). An X-lock does make sense if you don't have a convenient anchor point that allows you to maximize your winch's pulling power. Now if it could only help you when your dumb friend goes into the water you told him not to, and you dug yourself into the soft, fine sand using your jerk strap so now you are both sitting on your frames connected by a really tight rubber band...
That traverse don't even have the proper tires and off road feature to be going off road. Explains why people hate vehicles getting stuck due to vehicle not built for off roading.
It's actually impressive if you watch close. Many times when it was teeter tottering the traction control did a good job of locking the wheels that were in the air. Still way too much of a trail for a front wheel based AWD vehicle to drive. When you all said you were smelling clutches it was actually probably the brakes overheating from the traction control. Probably a rental so the driver didn't care until there was a chance of the type of damage they would have to pay for. Thanks for the video!
Yes!!! Thank you. Mentioning that bulletin killed the: “it’s a Jeep thing” comment. Getting my steering gearbox changed just under the warranty window. Thank you for this! 🫡
@JustinKingOffroad yeah, I would never buy it for towing. I like it for having enough room to throw a family load of stuff for travel, but also be competent for off roading excursuons, including some extreme terrain. Plus, enough utility for hauling stuff in the bed.
I walked down there the year before the fire. We were camping close to the burned out facilities. I was just heading down to the dam of lost lake. We used to camp there when I was a kid. It was muddy back then also
If you think the front end on the Rubicon isn't up to snuff. You are going to be a very sad individual if you stray off anything above a fire road in the Bronco.
Awesome footage and info. Thanks. Please open our Fav trail ! The lack of tree canopy allowing the sun and wind to get in the bad spots and dry them out 😎🤘🏼☀️☀️
@@JustinKingOffroad ben Binge Watching PW videos like yours. Lease in coming up on my 2022 5.7 1500 BackCountry and looking to move up to a 2500 . On the Fence about a Off/Road Packaged 2500 Big Horn or just go for the PW !
@@mrmoparrr my only gripe with the power wagon was the low capacity. Required for off-road stuff, but I need a truck more for truck stuff. I'd go with the big horn and put a winch and bumper on it! Power wagon is awesome, but has half ton capacity.
@@mrmoparrr I pulled mine, and have friends that pull 37 footers. You're not going anywhere fast at any more than about 5-7 mpg. It'll do it, same engine and transmission as the non-pwagon.
Used to work at a Ford dealer, we had a GT350R roll right back in on a flatbed after engine knock about 3000 miles in. They gave it a long block but then it came back again after 27 miles because a lifter spring parted company.
check your cold side tube from the intercooler to the turbo, mine cracked at 60k and did the same thing. easy to replace, the crack caused excess regen
If you buy a new Ram/Jeep..... Open the TIPM and push any fuse down *click*, repeat for every fuse/breaker/relay. None of the fuses are fully seated which creates an open electrical bridge at the base of the fuse contact. If you live near Salt water or where roads are chemically treated, the aerosolized salts will condense at the electrical bridge created by the fuses. I have had a '16,17,20,21,23,24 model FCA/Stellantis and found this to be the case(unseated fuses). In every case I seated them fully and not only had no issues as a result, but have had literally no electrical issues. I'm sure the TIPM is populated by robot, they look exactly the same and uniform, but the fuses are not seated. *some of the above is opinion/speculation but it is founded in experience that supports them.
I'm actually going to get a top light bar and their rear light bar to work with their system, because of what I do is what I need for safety reasons. I can't wait till I get the funds for it.
the FS has to get some of their team in there to evaluate, but there was very positive remarks in the field about how it's basically ready to go. needs some work in the boggy areas first. it really shouldn't be too long. I'd hope next season!
@JustinKingOffroad in live in Red Feather Lakes. We have a good size group, not really a club though. Maybe we should make it a club. If you ever need a hand up there please reach out. We would love to help. Last weekend we road around nunn creek, had 11 machines, we could all bring our saws
