I have a strandberg boden modern 7. The brand is strandberg so just go to their website and check their stuff out, they make great stuff. Pretty pricy though, I got mine from a friend for a rly good discount
Thank you man :) I practiced a TON ever since i started freshman year, so this was just the result of a ton of hours put in. And I still missed that top note at 1:49 😭
@@jadendupree7398 I just started practicing a ton in October to prepare for dci auditions (I’m a sophomore and just turned 16) and I haven’t stopped since, hopefully I will be able to play this solo before I graduate high school
@londoncalling05_47 practice a ton of different excercises. Look up spider excercises to get started then make up your own. Don't always go for your fastest speed, chill at a speed you can do perfect for a while and just focus on how every single motion feels while you do it. After the pathways are completely ingrained, then speed it up and keep the same relaxed feeling, going for minimal motion. And just be patient, it takes a while. Just practice w a singular goal and stick to it for a bit. It can be a very boring process so I like to watch RU-vid while I do it bc I got tik tok brain rot lol. Hope this helps, and thanks for the support!
Fantastic job with this one my dude! Very much digging your tone and that gorgeous Strandberg as you thoroughly nailed every riff! Entire audio mix is on point also! You currently in a band by chance? VOM are such a huge influence, you’d probably even enjoy our newest single where it’s of the same style! Either way keep up the amazing work man, hope to see future covers of yours! 🤘🏻
Hello! I am auditioning for a DCI group rn on guitar and would love your help! I have auditioned for WGI so I understand sort of the process but I am curious if you know how it differs from DCI. Any tips or tricks you have when auditioning? Furthermore my HS ensemble is preforming a show this year where I am on classical guitar, while I had freedom to write most of the guitar part they wrote me a crazy difficult finger picking part in 12/8 with tons of crazy rhythms and runs. How did you get your fingerpicking chops up to speed? I sadly had to turn down BK Worlds Percussion due to scholastic commitment but hopefully i can make the DCI group I am going for this year!
Awesome playing, but why, why are you using a panoramic mic to record the audio? 4000+ dollars of gear in frame but you can't record properly? C'mon give us the audio your playing deserves
Bro you got chops man.I’ve been on a wgi and dci watch binge and when I watched this show I though it was good but this cam was amazing I wish my band director would let me play guitar in a show(I’m in pit I play keyboard). This was awesome though you got skillz🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you man! Doing guitar in a show is definitely possible, you just have to be able to do everything yourself because the techs/director won't know how to. If you wanted to make it happen here's what I'd do: 1. Show your director proof that guitar works great in shows. Great examples include RCC 2022, BD 2023, Broken City 2018, and many others. 2. Have a plan for your rig. This is the hardest part, but a low budget solution would be a Line 6 Pod HD Pro X. That's what I'm using for this year. I have other stuff such as wireless plugin, wireless in ear monitors, a midi patch changer, and a volume pedal, but you really only need the amp. A volume pedal would be great though if you can get one, so that you can do dynamics with the rest of the ensemble. Make sure it's a true volume pedal though, not a midi expression pedal. Then you just go amp into the mixer direct. Or, if you have money, the line 6 Helix has a built in volume pedal and sounds a lot better. But it's about twice as expensive. 3. Know how to write guitar parts for shows. In an ideal world, the composer of the show writes the show with guitar in mind rather than having it as an after thought. But that won't start happening for a while, guitar is pretty new to the activity and people don't quite yet know how to write for it. If your director would be willing to hire me I could write a guitar part for pretty cheap, however if not it's up to you. Easiest way to do this is to look at the full score, pick a part that you want to play, and just double it. Maybe play the vibe melody on guitar for a phrase then switch to marimba runs. Problem with this is that you won't be heard much, as if you are you'd be covering keyboards dynamically. So you'd be adding to the sound without people even really realizing it. Final step is a find a way to make the doubled part guitar-y, but adding bends/vibrato/slides/harmonics/whatever you can. Hope this helps, guitar has a lot of potential on the activity, it just has to be proven :)
Thanks for the pointers man!Ill remember them thanks for all the pointers!I didn’t really expect you to resond😂.I’ll remember these. Thank you so much!
This is the sickest guitar part in a front ensemble I’ve ever seen. What’s the pedal board/i-o setup? Are you running through mainstage, and do you have a speaker/amp or are you using ears?
Thank you so much man, I really appreciate it. I'm very lucky that they allowed me to have a lot of freedom with my part, so I was able to create parts that non guitarists wouldn't really know how to write. And the setup is a bit complicated but it ended up being super ideal. The chain goes wireless connector, into the amp (rack processor technically), out to the volume pedal (on the left), out to the snake which goes to the mixer. Then the mixer went into a wireless in ear monitor system, which I could change what channels were being sent and the volumes of everything through the mixer. I also had a midi cable connecting my rack processor to a midi foot switch controller (right side) so that I could change patches and adjust whatever parameters I had set on the expression pedals, such as reverb/delay/compression.
Well done! I dropped Libertango halfway last year, should have learned the entire piece. Just was wondering, I saw your comment somewhere else on a delecluse page that you were auditioning for NYO. I'm auditioning this year aswell! Honestly, this is going to be a tough audition. If you feel like it, would you like to keep in contact somehow and just share some thoughts for the next month before the video assignments are due? Although we are both fighting for a percussion spot in NYO, I think it would be beneficial for both of us to give each other tips to beat out the rest of the competition. I don't even know if this message will be read, but if it is, leave a comment or email me at kushbogga@gmail.com. I wish you the best of luck with your video repertoire! Best Regards from a highschool senior, Kushal Boggavarapu
