Thank you man! Doing guitar in a show is definitely possible, you just have to be able to do everything yourself because the techs/director won't know how to. If you wanted to make it happen here's what I'd do: 1. Show your director proof that guitar works great in shows. Great examples include RCC 2022, BD 2023, Broken City 2018, and many others. 2. Have a plan for your rig. This is the hardest part, but a low budget solution would be a Line 6 Pod HD Pro X. That's what I'm using for this year. I have other stuff such as wireless plugin, wireless in ear monitors, a midi patch changer, and a volume pedal, but you really only need the amp. A volume pedal would be great though if you can get one, so that you can do dynamics with the rest of the ensemble. Make sure it's a true volume pedal though, not a midi expression pedal. Then you just go amp into the mixer direct. Or, if you have money, the line 6 Helix has a built in volume pedal and sounds a lot better. But it's about twice as expensive. 3. Know how to write guitar parts for shows. In an ideal world, the composer of the show writes the show with guitar in mind rather than having it as an after thought. But that won't start happening for a while, guitar is pretty new to the activity and people don't quite yet know how to write for it. If your director would be willing to hire me I could write a guitar part for pretty cheap, however if not it's up to you. Easiest way to do this is to look at the full score, pick a part that you want to play, and just double it. Maybe play the vibe melody on guitar for a phrase then switch to marimba runs. Problem with this is that you won't be heard much, as if you are you'd be covering keyboards dynamically. So you'd be adding to the sound without people even really realizing it. Final step is a find a way to make the doubled part guitar-y, but adding bends/vibrato/slides/harmonics/whatever you can. Hope this helps, guitar has a lot of potential on the activity, it just has to be proven :)

Thank you so much man, I really appreciate it. I'm very lucky that they allowed me to have a lot of freedom with my part, so I was able to create parts that non guitarists wouldn't really know how to write. And the setup is a bit complicated but it ended up being super ideal. The chain goes wireless connector, into the amp (rack processor technically), out to the volume pedal (on the left), out to the snake which goes to the mixer. Then the mixer went into a wireless in ear monitor system, which I could change what channels were being sent and the volumes of everything through the mixer. I also had a midi cable connecting my rack processor to a midi foot switch controller (right side) so that I could change patches and adjust whatever parameters I had set on the expression pedals, such as reverb/delay/compression.
