I have great memories of back-packing south-east Asia as a young man. Now I'm heading into my senior years, the thrill of discovering the beauty of the world and the shared humanity of its people still burns bright within me. Hopefully my adventures inspire you to explore the world around you, too, and remind you that age is not a barrier to a life filled with curiosity, learning and vitality.

Wow, thank you for sharing. Always interesting to find out country towns in Australia in the middle of nowhere and still people love living there isn’t it? Wonderful thank you once again
Thanks for a wonderfully presented video Terry. My wife and I visited Burra 2019, took the key tour and your video took us right back there. Love this town. We camped with our caravan up at the old showgrounds on the edge of town. your delivery very relaxed, enjoyable and easy to watch. Cheers.
🌞My parents took me on hols thru all the stunning natural wonders when i was a kid i can remember being alone in a huge cave on the coast that i wouldnt have let my kids
Sometimes it is about the journey as you said in the end... What nice towns too!! I did look where "World's end" is and it is sadly JUST outside Goyder's line sadly... It is amazing how they went trough the effort of building these houses which will last many more life times though...
i just asked my parents if we could drive to Terowie next time I'm back in south Australia. The fact a lot of the shops are little museums interests me so much like you I'm a history buff. To many cafes and artists would probs ruin the place and im an artist who loves coffee, turn the empty places into more museums🤣 its only two and half hours drive from Adelaide city! figured it was north just from your video that landscape is so unique to that part of the world.
Pretty sure I went through this town just recently on our travels from Queensland to Perth but there were alot like these types of towns on the way , and it was really mind blowing but also really cool 😊it really gives you a look into a different way of living than our usual busy way of life and j can appreciate these quiet empty country towns ..thankyou for your content it's nice to hear the stories and get a actual look on the inside of these buildings as often you just drive past because your set on a destination 😅 (although j did stop in various small towns of course ! ) I also would love to hear more on the ghost stories 🥰 ghosts, abandoned half fallen down building ..LOVE 😊 and the guy living in an old cop station with those old doors ? Dark history ? So cool !! I am most defiently now subscribed 😊
Grandfather had a large farm here. Big house with a full wrap around porch. I've wanted to go there and try to find out if the house still stands, but I haven't been there since I was about 4 years old... 30 years ago... I'd have no clue where to look
We love the place and my Husband always talks about buying a house up there - though we never have...yet!!! I remember when we first went there, we went into the museum, shops, art gallery and old places - the mannequins there really are a wee bit spooky!! But we love spooky things anyway hahaha...... It would be great at Halloween hahaha..... I love towns with dark histories, it makes them more interesting I find... Must go there again soon - thank you for showing us through the town again Terry...
Burra is a great little town , i retired a year ago from Adelaide people friendly cafes are great , thing i like most going up to the mine site when theres no moon you can see the milky way and the millions of stars its really is a awesome sight.
Great and informative video - I have been to Terowie but didn't realise you could actually access so much. I'm so impressed with this, and look forward to watching other videos. Also fascinating to read the comments, to add to the history and exploration of this fascinating little ghost town in SA.
Was it really a bad thing for the missionaries to have educated the aboriginals ? Imagine if they didn't bother, can you really think it would be right to have a stone age society living in parralel with a modern one ? You and I know what the end result would be. I love your videos. Thank you
The tragedy is that as those beautiful old houses decay, they are slowly being replaced by revolting bland souless buildings, eventually the process will kill of tourism...
Thank you for this very interesting video, I used to live in Peterborough but we would also visit the hardware shop at Terowie, is that the same shop shown in the video.
Terry - Hope you get over the the Western side of the Flinders Ranges An absolute must - is the Nilpena Ediacara National Park - where those really ancient fossils are. You'll have to book to get it -- it has its own website. It's $80 - but discounts apply for eligible pensioners.
Thanks for the video it was really interesting. We visited Burra on our way west in 2020, and intended to go as far as Perth and then come back. Burra was one of the places we wanted to visit on the way back to spend more time in. Sadly we were only there overnight, and we couldn't get back over the border so we had to go right around Australia running from covid! My father lived at Moonta Bay, and I believe the Moonta Mines are connected to the copper at Burra, so I've seen a bit of mining history over at Moonta. Hopefully we'll get back one day!
It's a beautiful gorge. In winter the water is running down onto the little waterholes. In the 80's there was a beautiful large swimming hole further up the gorge that we used to swim in. Camped there quite a few times.
A truly good episode Terry. Everyone has a place that they feel comfortable and truly at home, and for me it’s the Flinders Rangers, I try to spend time there each year for my need for a fix of remoteness, it’s like a magnet just roaming the gorges, I’ll be there in a few weeks. You did the area proud with this video.
Thank you. It’s such a special place. I don’t think any video can truly do it justice. It’s one of those places you just have to experience for yourself.
