Hi! Welcome to this new channel! Here is an educational platform where we will be discussing all to do with Birds of prey/Raptors (as they are also referred to) and the ancient art of falconry. There will also be videos about other topics related to various animals and aspects of the natural world! Enjoy!
Guess what other type of bird enjoys dust baths? Hint: its a meal this Kestrel catches! The House Sparrow, well there you have it! Now are there other birds of prey that enjoy dust baths? I'd say nope!
People might not like these birds in their garden but they clean up the Gene pool ie the slower older and infirmed birds that would have bred are taken out of the gene pool
They are indeed a completely natural part of the garden ecosystem. Domestic/Feral cats are far more detrimental to wild bird populations than Wild Sparrowhawks, or indeed any bird of prey for that matter
Great greys have an enlarged facial disk, that is a row of thickened and stiff feathers on their faces. This species (this one is female) has an especially large head and facial disk to locate sounds when hunting
With advancements in science the Woolly Mammoth could be revived within our lifetime. Imagine if these amazing raptors could too. Once I'm able to become a falconer I plan to specialize in the African Crowned Eagle. I can only imagine what sort of beast it's ancestor would be like. Love the video. Hope you have more.
Did you know that the Indri lemurs still make warning calls for aerial predators like the Malagasy Crowned Eagles though they are all extinct to this day.
