Perfection! Awesome arrangement, flawless playing, and great tone! Sounds good enough (actually considerably better than 'good enough') to have been on the studio track 💯

Its obvious by looking at this guitar that its a poly finish with a veneer top. (Not nitro and not solid flame maple). The reason for this is the flame doesnt have any depth to it and because nitro is very reactive and wears and ages simply on exposure to air even if its never played. Your guitars finish looks like its just left the showroom and the top flame hasnt got any depth or shimmer! Sound wise I agree that the guitar sounds as good as a Gibson however, its obvious aesthetically its either a Jap/Korean copy due to the veneer and the poly finish. Making a guitar with a veneer and with a Poly finish makes construction costs much cheaper especially when you take into consideration economies of scale (think the Fender 3 bolt neck plate). Fernandes/Burny have never made guitars themselves and never had their own production facility, they jobbed out production over numerous manufacturing faculties over the years in Japan then Korea and then right across south east Asia including China. Its a shame the company has gone bankrupt as in terms of best value to construction quality they have produced some of the best Gibson/Fender copies ever made. What's important is identifying where the guitar was made (I appreciate this can be v difficult) as some of factories where given higher specs and much more money per unit so they spent more time on getting the finer details right and used better quality parts.

Were you able to lower the action considerably more than how it came? I did on mine but not to as low as I’d like it without touching the truss rod and I’m wondering if anyone else has successfully lowered the action without having fret buzz
@DomHawthorn
@DomHawthorn Месяц назад
@@ttngeo7494 Yeah, I had no issues lowering the strings as low as I wanted, could’ve gone lower with no problems. You will have to adjust the truss rod though if you want low action, that’s just part of the set up process really.

I always thought this song sounded to modern to be a 70s song. Too lo-fi for the sake of being lo-fi. Reminded me more of The Black Keys or Franz Ferdinand than Fleetwood Mac. Great song though!

The Asian luthiers sure know how to make a guitar!! I've sold off my "real" Gibson Les Paul's and have been having Chibsons custom made via eBay (that way if anything goes wrong I get my $300-$350 back). I sold one of my real Les Paul's for $9k and that was bc my $300 Les Paul sounds WAY better. All I do is swap pups (I like the Pearly Gates 1st year set from Duncan) and away I go.

Had one of these bought new in 1989, it got stolen in around 1994. Best guitar to this day ive ever played - and i own many. Bought a Gibson R7 a couple of years ago. It's the only one I've ever played which came close to the feel of the Fernandes. Awesome guitars. I recently bought a fairly new (Chinese) Burny RLC, also a pretty fine guitar but lacking the love and care which was put into the older guitars. Great playing, sir

I am not sure what everyone else is listening to but the TONEX sounds BIG, while the real amp sounds weak by comparison. Impresive. More clean bass and low mids but BIG and expansive. I picked the TONEX as the real amp everytime it sounded so good. 100%...wrong. The last 2 demos were a bit harder to distinguish because of the distortion but I could clearly pick a "better" sound. I was just wrong about what it was coming from. 100%...wrong.

Don, congrats on a very instructive video an on your wonderful playing. I’ve currently got the Sheriff 22 and love the tone but had concerns as you describe in the video. I’ve just ordered the new 25. Your comments and sound clips helped seal my decision. Look forward to more videos from you!

Great demo. I’m considering moving from a modelling amp (line 6 catalyst) to a tube amp, and I’ve got an eye on the Marshall DSL1hr as it can be ran at 0.1w so handy for home use. I’m looking into 1x12 cab options and this looks ideal.

Hi, this time I noticed on the sheriff 25 by the way, phenomenal demo very dynamic playing style been teaching guitar a long time and you certainly have a very beautiful tone and I’m not talking about the amplifier talking about your fingers which is what makes them sound so good either way I am wanting to know how effective the master volume controls are on this amplifier. I mean on my Friedman I can literally take the PT 20 or, the little sister and use the volume almost like a power scale and preserve gain and tone yet get bedroom volume. Can these amps do that because right now that’s pretty much. The decision for me is whether this is investing because I will have to buy a power attenuator I guess is my point if I can avoid that I want to thanks again great demo killer playing 9:49

Awesome Les paul and very RARE! you can test if the paint is nitro by picking a small area and dip a q-tip in acetone (small amount) and rub on paint. It will melt nitro. Maybe find a spot under the control panel and test. Once again very nice... Want to sell it?

Has nothing to do with LP's, but my first guitar IS (still have and play it) an Fernandes APG 80 (1997). My second guitar is a 2001 Gibson LP Std 60's honeyburst plaintop. Really a shame though that it is no longer possible to buy Fernandes Guitars over here.... (The Netherlands)

Is the 5:43-7:15 part on the Vintage or Hot Rod channel?
@DomHawthorn
@DomHawthorn 4 месяца назад
That was the Vintage channel - using the guitar's volume controls to adjust the amount of gain. The amp is super responsive in that way, can go from warm cleans to raunchy overdrive just using the vol control on the guitar.

@DomHawthorn
@DomHawthorn 4 месяца назад
@@bejsmenful Yes - you may get a bit of speaker distortion if you run the amp maxed out. If you intend on running the amp maxed out I would maybe consider a 2x12 cab instead so the load can be spread across 2x 25w speakers instead. I run my Sheriff 22 through 1x12 though and have no issues so far:)

@@DomHawthorn I’m not going to push the amp to the limit :-) The amp will be run in my home studio and occasionally with a band. I’m looking at the G212Plus series as well and I’m considering the mix of the creamback and the v30.
