It would resonate if an older single pastor taught this.... Did you consult older Christians on your sermon in order to address blindspots or misconceptions? Having had attended Harvest for 8 yrs and talking about this issue with the pastoral staff, I suspect no one asked for input or perspectives of any single Christian in the congregation. Thats unfortunate.
I'm always thinking about his sons that he left behind and shame they lost somone who helped others. If you're dealing with mental illness, find the most comforting outlets to get you out of it.

I deeply desire the gift of celibacy. As a public health specialist, I recognize the potential to expand my career into global health and ultimately serve Israel. The gift of celibacy is what I seek, as abstinence has been my challenge. As a doctor, I am aware of procedures that can entirely remove the sexual apparatus, and I am contemplating undergoing this. My motivation is to achieve sexual purity. Would it be considered a sin to pursue this procedure?
I wept the day we lost you, Pastor Wilson. Not only because I looked up to you and understood you so, but because I was also a young man struggling with severe anxiety and depression. It seemed one of the few people who could easily understand the way I felt-right down to the detailed pains-could no longer fight the same type of battle I was finally winning, myself, due to Jarrid's wisdom and comfort. You brought hope to so many of God's young, hopeless people. I wish we could have given you the same hope you were giving us. I pray your family is healing, if even in the slightest. I hope they know that the same courage I, and the other young hurting hearts, carry is the very courage that came from your faith. God be with you all.
Listened to this preaching last night and it brought revelation to me on this topic, looked him up today to see more of his preaching only to find out that he's dead. how sad. May his soul rest in peace.
See everything is relative. I am disabled and unable to function in the realm of physical intimacy. But I am grateful for life, God, and that I can live in peace and solitude.
I think we're over analyzing these concepts. If you want to be single and aren't concerned about sexual desires then it most likely means you are called to singleness! If you want to be married you are probably called to marriage, although it may not be! It's a bit more tricky.
It's a beautiful speech said by the Pastor- Young man. Very God-oriented. One may not like being single but it has its plusses. I really like this message. God has a purpose in one's life. Many men are afraid that they will end up with someone they don't like at all. That is the fear of single men which is to end up alone or with someone that you don't like at all physically and emotionally. Men want to do the choosing but it's actually the opposite and men are stubborn when it comes to this vision. Many men believe that Christ God is just for old people, kids, mothers, and single mothers. The purpose to life from this speech is about one having a personal relationship with Christ God and maybe down the road God will bring you someone for marriage, or for you to end up with a caring girlfriend. Work on getting excellence and in Christ God and then on His timing; He then will decide if marriage is right for you. Being single is God's protection. August 3, 2022. USA.
Just sick , to read in the comments this supposed "Christians" so quick to judge this man for his actions, reminds me of the pharisees in the time of Jesus, looking down and condemning sinners as if they had earned a place in heaven by their religiousness
The saddest part of it all is the scandal. My gosh, the irony in his ministry and then death by suicide? It’s terrifying. This guy also looked young and healthy, with everything including 2 kids. Why Lord? Why couldn’t you let him die by heart attack 1 day prior or something? Why allow him to fall when he has such a position of prominence and people who were clinging to his message?
It's more like people are single lonely suffering and utterly ignored in the church. Being single is not good. It's a trial to be endured. I am enduring it there is no hope in sight of it ending. Very tired.
Many woman don’t want good husbands. They call them nice guys. Marriage for me has lost its meaning. It isn’t how it should be today. Peoples hearts are too hard now. I’m waiting for the Lord to come back. I hope I’m ready when he comes back, because I’m a great sinner.
They put too much pressure in this poor guy, and he didn’t know how to say no. He played the role of pastor to not let the people down. But it was all an act. It’s sad, but it seems like he seeked peoples approval, and it ended up killing him.
I’m always amazed at how easy and effortless the single life is, no problems no consequences to never marrying or having children. One big smile every day. Well that’s what I keep hearing anyway.
Depression Is a mental health condition, it's a disease that need to address. I've been there and I can say it's not easy to overcome. It's a hopeless situations and feelings that you can't do by your own. We need medical assistance if we experience such condition. Psychiatrist and Psychologist are the people that can truly understand what is happening inside our brains. It's a long time process of healing. Everyone is vulnerable in experiencing such condition. I really thank God how I totally recover form that kind of experience. With the help of some doctors by giving medicines, I was able to recover and improve my condition and of course the GREATEST HEALER is JESUS! Don't judge people who are in that kind of condition, they need understanding, accpetance, respect and more importantly love and prayers. It's not only psychological or mental battle but also spiritual battle! God bless eveyone!
