Tyre Review is a new concept, created by a bunch of car nuts who want to know what you think about your tyres.
A few years ago, we saw a problem. The problem was that there was no centralised place for tyre reviews in Australia. They could be found on Facebook, forums, Instagram, toilet walls (true!), down at the pub, and all sorts of other places we can't mention for legal reasons, BUT no single spot where you could sort through the reviews based on the car you drive.
So we decided to fix that. We got Australia's best database of vehicles and tyres, and mated it to this spiffy new website.
This means you are be able to:
- Filter reviews based on the exact car you drive - Filter reviews based on the tread pattern you're interested in - Compare reviews based on driving styles
We're entirely independent, and focused on making this the best place to review tyres. What we really want to know is what you think of the tyres themselves.
Maxxis tyres are the best tyres I have ever had, I have tried other brands, but Maxxis is my go to tyre as they are the best. I run Razr 811 AT's absolutely amazing tyre
Not impressed with the RTs. My F350 tows 40' gooseneck trailers loaded to 26K lbs on snow at 85MPH. I have no reason to change to Its while my Faithful Duratrac is available. Sidewalls on old are very important to my 300yd driveway on a snow covered hill.
what do you think are the best size rims for 4x4 Ute being used 60-70% on road and remainder off road running AT, NOT SURE WHICH AT TYRES. I am waiting to receive the new DMAX 24MY LSU+. Really appreciate your thoughts.
Might I suggest when zoomed in on tire tread the focus be clear to view the depth of the sipes. Also display the tire name on the screen while talking about. Thanks
If you're going into remote Australia, 3 ply. Spend the money, don't feel the pain of stuffing around. Buy tyres with a larger aspect ratio. Small profile ties on your 20 inch rims are wanker tyres.
Greetings, I'm looking to buy myself a new set of four tires and I'm stuck between the general grabber ATX and Toyo Open country at3. Which of the two would you recommend for daily use? Say, jack of all trades tire. I ride mostly on road, sometimes I'll go on off road camping trips.. and which of the two do you think will do better on rain? This would be on a 3rd gen Tacoma
Hello, how are you, greetings from Tijuana,,, you have good videos,,,, I have a question ❓ which is better fgoodrif k02 in 31x10.5R15. or Baja legend exp,,,,,,, which one is better,,,,, I want it for a Frontier 2002 crew cab
I've recently replaced my tires with Kumho's Road Venture 52's. For about 2 months, I've noticed significant improvements with comfort, aggressiveness, and great handling. I'd be easily replacing them with Kumho's again.
Hey I bought Mickey Thompson legends exp 33x12.5r15. Getting punchers constantly. What's your thoughts in the toughest construction tire 50/50 road off road running on a Gu platrol looking at going to a 16" rim. Bought geolander go15 second hand while I try warranty on the Mickey's
Also getting flat from rocks in the tread straight through the thick blocks and 3 in in no more then 5,000ks of gravel road 2wd kinda stuff I'd gladly take my Mazda 3 along.
I just put these on my Denali 1 ton diesel… they look great, have a nice quiet and soft ride but are horrible for towing… beyond horrible, I would say dangerous. I’m returning them this week for Falcon Wildpeaks. I really wanted a new brand but I’m going back to a tire I know can handle the loads. I had a loaded trailer (14g lbs) going uphill around corners I felt like my trailer was ‘pushing’… this was because my load caused sidewall roll pushing the back out and shifting the front wheels in… my heart sopped few times, and it only got worse on the downhills. I wiggled my steering wheel and inch in either direction and the shimmy multiplied from the smallest correction…I don’t know if it’s the big outside lugs or a weaker sidewall. I pull consistent loads in my trailer on the same route hundreds of times and the Geolanders just can’t handle the load safely. If you’re just putting them on your truck or SUV without towing then I think they would be just fine… the big treads do pick up LOTS off stones though. If you have your family and are pulling a trailer… just don’t!
They came on my truck when I bought it. It's a 13chevy 2500hd 4x4. I put close to 80k on that first set. Just got off a set of the goodyear ultra terrain ats which weren't that bad. Just didn't get the miles like the duratracs. So now I just got a set of the duratrac rts plus a new set of bilstein 5100 shocks on all 4 corners and it drives nicer then when I got it! Best tire for me here in the cascade mtns in Washington state.
All being equal...the at wins...however, airing down the mt may make a greater impact. I live in se texas on the gulf coast and san luis pass has very deep fine dry sand and airing down does wonders for my 35x12.50r17 mts
Best regards from Italy, Florence and I, for my Suzuki Jimny 4x4 truck with a 1.3 lt gasoline m13a engine from 2001, I have 4 all-terrain Hankook dynapro atf RF 10 m+s tires in size 205-70-15 and I have a train of retreaded mud tires from the Italian brand ziarelli modello mud Power ziarelli MT 205-70-15 m+s !! (I am undecided between the two models of Kumho tires, the Kumho at 51 models and the other model the Kumho at 52, always in size 205-70-15!)
My Goto tyre for my 4x4 was the Goodyear Wrangler M/T Kevlar. Good traction and ok on bitumen roads but also strong sidewalls with good protection against being staked (Having sticks go through the sidewall which is not an uncommon issue offroad in desert areas of Australia). Also even though the Wrangler was an aggressive M/T I found they also worked well in soft sand or soft snow with correct pressures. But sadly they are no longer available in Australia... I also replace the M/Ts when the tread is around 50 percent used as after that they are no longer really M/Ts due to lack of tread depth
I realize the BFG are for guys going "off roading" but i have a motorhome that keeps getting stuck in fields, the weight doesnt help! I have Tinitus and need to keep the road noise down as much as possible but I am having trouble finding the tyre to satisfy my demands. anyone have ideas please
Hey mate I was sold mt legends for a Gu patrol and am poped them every trip. In your opinion was I sold a tire not fitting my weight range? That really should be on the sales people?
A great video, really comprehensive and objective. I put a set of these on 2020 RAV 4 Hybrid AWD and on dry tarmac, they are great - everyting that you have reported here. With just over 10,000 kms completed, I can say that the one really dissappointing thing that I have found is their performance on wet tarmac. They understeer horribly in turns. Perhaps it is because of the tarmac/hot mix that we have here in Australia, but as soon as it rains, you need to take off a heap speed in turns and in round-a-bouts and turn in really slowly and gently because the car just pushes across the apex of the turn and runs wide every time. Wear has been admirable, but I will be shifting to something else when these are worn; possibly Pirelli Scorpion or Dunlop Grand Trek.
