I rediscovered Lego a few years ago and also into Cars, space and other stuff, I have now combined that with build and review video on my SpeedyBrick RU-vid channel.
I collect Creator expert cars, Speed Champions sets, I also love to create my own whether its small 6,7 and 8 wide cars or larger. I recently start building 1:24 scale Formula 1 cars and learning how to design with Studio and produce instructions
I have a few garages for the Speed Champions cars and even an audience on a packed grand stand who keep an eye on the building process.
Have fun creating your own designs and remember you are never too old to have fun.
Great moc, very creative connections, good to see reviews of MOCs, I can understand why Lego does not do stuff like this, as it has some stability issues, some of these could be fixed if Lego made parts like a 1x2 plate with studs on both sides.
Amazing wheels is right! WOW. I feel that Lego does come up short when it comes to wheels on speed champions. That little extra goes a long way. Love the wheels for pimping. LOL. Really makes a big difference. Surprise us on which you add those three to. Looking forward to seeing which you choose. Should look sweet pimped!
Yes exactly, you get a xml file that you import into BrickLink to create your wanted list. Once I do that I’ll go through my parts to see what I already have then use the auto select tool to work out who has the best deal for the parts I need. Really simple. Only issue can be if the seller has minimum buy amount then I go through their store to see what else I might need/want to order from them to reach the minimum
Nice, yes the new parts help solve a lot of building solutions. That's great thing with Lego is you can always update the design when need parts become available. Unfortunately there is a lag in some of the new parts getting into Stud.io and part designer which can be frustrating.
Thanks for reviewing my Mazda 787B John! great video, and a very fair comparison between my version and the CADA car. What a lot of people forget is that for MOCs pricing works differently compared to buying kits or sets, and often people turn down mocs because they are more expensive. It's unfortunately how it works, and that is why I put much effort into selecting parts that are more commonly available and in production (= cheaper parts). This can greatly benefit the price. Thanks again!
Hi Sybrin, you're more than welcome. these were great fun to build. I am not sure what the total cost was for this one as i bought parts for three builds at the same time, overall i think i spent 56 euros for the three plus the sticker sheets. perhaps 35 euros per car, so more than the mass produced sets but not massively so. Of course you can build MOC designs without buying any new lego if you have the pieces in your collection, so it is not really an issue.
It was a pleasure to build them all. the are so different so hard to pick one, but if I was going to pick only one it would be the Ferrari 499P because i'm a racing fan. But that said the Corvette is also really cool , thinking it would be nice to build more from this theme. Once again many thanks for sending me the instructions. Should we catch up on video again to discuss them and some of your other new designs?
@laurent2275 I can respect that opinion, but do note that many parts are similar between the two, as he built his version quite some time after mine. He also uses a longer wheelbase, which is incorrect
Well, two things firstly it’s a moc that only uses official Lego parts so not really of brand more like not designed by Lego. Secondly regarding the stickers I’m not sure what the legal status is but there is no doubt some loophole that allows it, I don’t think anyone asked Ferrari for permission I know I didn’t for my Ferrari F1 moc.
Next up I think will be the two new Speed Champions cars, then I have three cars from NV Carmocs and a few older 6 wide speed champions. But will look at the Pagani as well
Love that! This is one of my favourite designs of SFH Bricks. He got the look perfect for the 787B and he also chose to represent the Le Mans winner while CaDA did not, which is odd!
Out of the two I would definitely have the shf version. That colour scheme is great! The white one just looks wrong somehow. Excellent video, look forward to others!😀😀
Recently started getting into Speed Champions and I currently have the BMW set but I want to build this since Lego themselves haven’t come out with the 499P. Do you have the exact pieces or is that on Bricklink. I’ve never built a non- Lego model before so I’m trying to understand this a bit more
Once you upload the wanted list (list of parts) into bricklink you can get an automated buy list where you can see prices, then choose the most economic deal, don’t forget freight cost.
@@speedybrick thank you for the quick response! Perfect now I know what to do! Will definitely be looking to see if I can get it. I actually have the 499P Phone case that I got on Dizzy Case which looks sick. Really love seeing Ferrari at the top of their game in at least WEC. Wish they came to IMSA as well. They would dominate!
you mean by following my video, i guess so but the idea is you support the great designer who put the time and effort into the creating the model. he is still a student so needs the income from selling instructions on rebrickable, small as it is. Hope you support him.
It is not so much about the income, but the time and effort put into designing such a complex car. It is not a 5+ build or anything, genuine time and effort were put into making this car look as closely to the real one as possible. As we all know, Lego is a very, very expensive hobby, and this is one way to fund it. By supporting designers they can work on new projects and models. By just copying them or stealing, no one is happy
Thanks, yeah nice to meet these guys and build some of their designs. Got some cool custom wheels coming from Portugal for NV Carmocs Porsche 959 which I will build next month
some are better and some are simular, some sets from lego are not super to, the availebilety is better for sure, Cada is good to qnd bought a a-team van fromm Ventura that came out awesome!
Car looks good. Lots of stickers but works well with the car. Enjoyed the vid as usual. Thanks for putting it together and for your reaction and insights. Btw cool shirt - love the color scheme. 😊
@@speedybrick I’m well aware of rebrickable but have yet to purchase anything from there, so thanks for showing the products such as this sweet car. I’ll eventually get my feet wet in the rebrickable space and I’m sure that will open a whole new brick option for my Lego building enjoyment and collection.
@@speedybrick good to know, thnx. You’re becoming my Lego mentor. 😂 Keep it up, loving your videos and the amazing content. Give us that room soon! Keep on brickin’ !!
Nice video, I converted mine to 8 wide spec. Looks so much better! Just need to lengthen it a bit to match the current 8 wide sets as it's a tad too small.
@@BrickDeviationnice, might do the same later. But I quite like the cartoon proportions of the 6 wide cars so going to build some more of the older cars, I also have a display case that fit 6 wide but not the 8 wide 😄
So true, comparing the two cars the scale is way off. both really nice cars but with the relative size difference they shouldn't have been in the same box.
@@speedybrick exactly I have the set and having it in person is just really weird looking they should have did it separate I'm sick and tired of having two packs of speed champions especially ones that don't really look right
@@DREDD_BOT yeah it's funny, they know how to do it right but so often get it wrong. Perhaps the Speed Champions head designer moving to City has created a vacuum so that this sort of stuff is able to happen
Good question, you can contact him directly through his website he might have some he can share. However he is certainly legitimate, not only are his designs and 3D parts excellent he is also part of the designer community even running design competitions. I know first hand two designers that are participating in the current competition
I do make this model but mclaren one on brick link yesterday i think the difference is in the rear side pod where mclaren is flat rather than curved up i do replace almost all the wedge parts with curved as i mention in your mercedes MOC F1 build overall its a fun build trying to achieve similar shape using different parts and i do enjoy your videos
@@adamtrinchetto4508 the stud is there bit sticking up on the plate or brick. the jumper plates have a stud in the middle and there is an indentation in the middle of the stud so you can offset the piece by ½ a stud
@@adamtrinchetto4508 Have a look at the lego manual, it starts with stage 54 on page 56, you can see that the plate should be offset by ½ stud, (this was my mistake). if you get that one right then the rest falls into place. Good luck
@@onecleverpig yeah amazing what you can find at these events. The guy said it had never been built, which is amazing in itself 46 years and never used mind blowing, I couldn’t have resisted building it.
Thanks for visiting my stand! Enjoyed the conversation but completely forgot to say that i have 15 alternatives for 6743 i made in 2014-2020 so if your set is complete you can try em out ;)
@@speedybricki finished my model this morning i changed all the wedge parts using curved so the decals can be applied i don't think about photoshop after rendering i might be using this trick next project thx for the advice
I grew up in a humble family looking and admiring all this sets at the local supermarkets, they were way too expensive for my parents at the time, and I kinda forgot about them... Today at 26 years of age with my own money and after some years now collecting Speed Champions, I remembered this old F1 sets and I thought to myself "I need a Lego Kimi Raikkonen" as he's my favorite driver! I was looking for all this old sets and there are quite a lot of them for sale so I'm now aquiring all of them, waiting for my first two in a few days time with that said, it's cool to see a older man enjoying this as much as I know I will enjoy, good vibes in the video!
Thanks, great that you get a chance to collect them now. When I was a kid there weren’t the amazing designs they have today but I was lucky to find an old technic set from 1978 yesterday at a bricktopia event in the Netherlands. Sometimes you just get lucky
@@speedybrick I wish there were events like that in my area enjoy it! and if you find more F1 old sets do more videos on them, I loved watching this one!
